“Pray you won’t have to kill.”
Without another word on the matter Imai started to lead Kira through the lab, going over the various members of the resistance at their computers, some were working in front of a mountain of text while others were looking through surveillance cameras on their computer monitors.
“These are our hackers. They hack into Isafaro’s security feed to try to give us an edge for future missions. They have to be careful not to get caught whenever they do. One false move could lead them straight to us.”
All or nothing. That was the struggle the Resistance faced everyday. All or nothing. It’s why they could only afford to have the best on their side. Imai led Kira to the back of the lab where the smell of burning oils and chemicals were at their strongest.
“Back here we work on explosives, solvents, medicines, smoke screens, malodorants and fire-based weaponry. You’ve any questions so far?” |

Kira remained silent at her words. It wan’t that he hadn’t ever killed or knew thought that everything could be solved with words. Twenty-four. He had killed 24 people. He had kept count. He killed them because they had been the enemy. He had been told to kill them. It was either them or him right? That hadn’t been the case in reality though. Kira followed her through the base. ”How is your own security?” he asked. As they both knew they weren’t the only ones with hackers. Both sides did and if they found a way into the system….it wouldn’t end that well. Kira knew the importance of moving in secret with a smaller force. He followed her to the next area. It was what he expected to be honest. ”No. This isn’t my first time being involved in a war.” he said his voice taking on a sad tone. This would be his third. Three wars. How many wars would he have to fight in? Had Rau been right? Was this really the fate humanity wanted for itself?

“We’re still here aren’t we?”
That would be his answer. It should be more than enough of an indication that their security was good since this entire place has yet to be compromised. Imai was for explaining but still kept some things secret no matter who she was talking to. Trust was always an issue when it wasn’t 201 standing across from her. Speaking of which….
“Then if you have no questions I’m going to have to leave you now. I have an important matter to attend to with others and time is of the essence. One of the other personnel can show you around.”
Imai looked at her watch while she spoke and then to Kira one last time offering him a warm, welcoming smile before walking off. |

Kira nodded at her words, but that was all. He said nothing else after that. He silently waited as Birdy landed on his shoulder and tilted it’s head. Kira held out his hand as it hopped onto it. Kira remembered when this had been given to him. And then Athrun and he had ended up as enemies. What was it that caused people to fight? Kira thought back to something Flay had said once. ”War is a terrible thing. I wish it would just hurry up and end.” she had said. In this moment Kira agreed as he had back then. He just wanted peace. He pulled out his laptop and set about making updates to his own Mobile Suits OS. He would ask about updating the security here later.
