Darius paused. The Crystal Expanse. So much had happened here. So many had died. For what he had in store many may yet die. Did he have that right? To gamble with the fate of everyone? It was a difficult question to answer to be entirely sure. Still the fact it was bugging him in the slightest was troubling. He stared at nothing for a while thinking. Not about his next move, but about those he had already caused to die in one cycle or other. Weither they deserved a fate or not he had given it to them. For the moment he just remembered their faces. He would kill if he needed to or if he thought it would further to stop the cycle, but that did not mean he would simple forget them. He owed the departed that small comfort at least. To know they would be remembered. Darius started walking along aiming to reach the ruins. There might be clues there. There may not. He could teleport there, however he wanted the time to think. Once he found what controlled the cycles he knew that decision from earlier would come full front. He would have to make that decision later, although truly he already knew what it would be. He would risk it. He had too. There was no alternative. He continued his treck along the snow in silence his cape slowly flapping in the wind. ____________________________________________________ Tag: Mariya Song: ”Unfolding Time” by Broken Iris Key: Thoughts “Dialouge”

The Crystal Expanse. The flood that froze over this once great city left many dead and even more trapped within the void between life and death. Not being able to truly live while at the same time never truly dying. A prison of ice that was only just starting to melt away, compliments of the warrior God sent to fix the mess caused by none other than man. Heaven would of course deny all responsibility, even though it was God who created the Arashi who would assist in the occurring chaos all around them. She had no right to speak out against any of them. Though deep down she would love nothing more but to tell all of heaven exactly how she felt. How she felt knowing she didn't belong, or that her existence will be over at the end of time when all life as we know it has ceased to be. Mariya's death was as inevitable as anyone else's. Life was the joke. Death was the punchline. And not a soul found it funny.
Mariya came to a stop when she saw the man up ahead. Remembering him through the lives he's taken. She was there to guide their souls as she did with anyone else. The Angel of Death came to despise anyone that took a life, seeing all that death would make your opinion of the one causing it very small. It didn't matter what the motive was behind it, in the end it all led to the same fate. Heaven or hell. Where will you go? For every man to make it into heaven, ten would be sentenced to hell from the one above. She could still hear their screams. Memories didn't mean anything when you were in the cage with demons of destruction.
"How many people will you be killing this cycle?" Mariya asked as she past him by, "Ten? Twenty? Thirty? I would like to know so I can prepare ahead of time." Darius would be able to hear the bitterness in her tone. It wasn't so much anger aimed at him as it was anger aimed at death in general and what she must endured for those that met it.

Darius paused not yet turning to face the angel of death. If anyone had to suffer because of his actions it would be here. He wondered how many she had guided to their destination because he had ended their lifes? Twenty? Fifty? Probably more then that he was sure of it, but the question was how many was it? He was sure the number was much further up there. He slowly turned to face her. He gave her a small nod. His way of acknowledging her presence. ”Mariya, it has been some time.” he said. ”You should know better then anyone that I will kill as many as are necessary.” he said pausing for a second. ”I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.” he said. Or course he would still continue to do this. He turned to stare past her. ”As you are well aware this is not the first time you have done this, but perhaps it may be the last. An end to having to lead people to their fate. Does that hold to appeal for you?” he asked. The idea did have it's charms. He wondered if she had been pushed far enough yet to want these things to end. ____________________________________________________ Tag: Mariya Song: ”Unfolding Time” by Broken Iris Key: Thoughts “Dialouge” OOC Talk: Sorry it's so bad. Mariya made a sound that came off as a snort in the man's direction. Inconvenience? Did he really just say that? The bitterness deep inside the angel of death was starting to grow until it was readable with a single glance at her face. Oh how she dream of the day where death would be abolished. The day where no matter how hard they tried, death just would not come and she would never again have to be called upon to deliver souls across the threshold of life and death. Some would say that was selfish but was it really? Parents would never again have to bury their children or vice versa. Married couples could be together forever with no death to tear them apart. Was that really such a bad world to live in? To never have to fear or worry about death? In Mariya's mind it was an utopia, and a dream that would never become reality. But even the hopeless were allowed dreams.
"No inconvenience at all."
Sarcasm at its finest. Some didn't think angels were capable of human emotions but they were, more than people realized. Mariya could get angry, saddened, annoyed, and of course bitter. Bitter at all the hardships she had to endured for generations. Darius spoke of an end. At this Mariya only could only scoff.
"As long as their is life there will always be death. Only when life ends will death be retired. Do you intend on ending life or do you speak of the end promised by the Arashi?"

It was clearly obvious before she even responded with words that his response had been dismissed. He had meant it. He was truly sorry she had to pay for his actions. However he also knew he would not stop. He couldn’t stop. It may seem unfair, but it wasn’t really. If he succeded. Those who suffered would not be caught in the same cycle. Those who profited from that suffering would no longer be rich and people would be free for a true beginning. Was that really such a bad thing? He saw nothing wrong with it. However if there was he would still continue. He paused at her next question. Not because he didn’t know how to answer it, but because he wasn’t sure if she wanted the answer truly. Still he had nothing to hide and she would not be able to stop him. ”Perhaps I intend on ending all of existence itself.” he said. He did not know absolutes. Maybe there was nothing after the cycles ended. Perhaps there was. He paused. There was one option she still hadn’t considered. A world look Utopia. One which didn’t need a leader however. Much like Azul, but that was much further off. With all the worlds merging however it was only a matter of time. ____________________________________________________ Tag: Mariya Song: ”Unfolding Time” by Broken Iris Key: Thoughts “Dialouge”

Mariya knew what the expected response to his intentions were but when her lips finally parted Darius would hear anything but the expected response.
"Good."
She wanted it all to be over. Not only would she be relieved of her duties but she would never again have to witness all the death and destruction in the world. In this reality or the next.
"I will not attempt to stop you but when word of your intentions get out to the public, and they will get out, you will find yourself on the receiving end of every powerful being in Genesis." A rare smile appeared on Mariya's lips soon after she said that.
"But you already knew that."

Darius was neither expecting anything from her or wanting any response from her. What she said was her decision, but standing against him or not it would not sway his opinion in the slightest. The Angel of Death. It was expected that she would agree with such a plan given her earlier response to his apology. It was clear to tell she did not enjoy her position. Darius slightly nodded at the statement. ”Do not mistake me. I know what awaits me on this path. I will not stop however.” he said. He couldn’t and wouldn’t. But perhaps at the end of it all if he was still living he could atone for some of the lives he had taken in the process. All those who had died to early because of him. It was one thing to remember, another thing entirely to honor. Something most people merged together. However this time things might end for the better. The realms were merging. It would be a simple thing to stop it all, but for what? Why? The more people that came and melded together the more ideas, cultures, technology that would come with it? With all of these in one place it became more likely a solution would be found for ending the cycles. On the other hand, that also meant more people would be more likely to clash, fight, and die. And then someone would have to guide all those people. ____________________________________________________ Tag: Mariya Song: ”Unfolding Time” by Broken Iris Key: Thoughts “Dialouge”

"Saying and doing are two different things entirely.
The angel of death moved closer to Darius, inch by inch but her feet never left the ground as both arms were now behind her back, hands folded behind her.
"Are you sure you know what you're doing? What you're getting into?"
Mariya stood right in front of him now, within arm reach of him, nose to nose. Not at all concerned with the idea that he could grab her if he saw fit to.
"In time I believe you'll find that people here can be very.... annoying...."

Darius already knew actions and words were different premises. He also knew the risks and the attention he would eventually attract to himself. He studied her for a moment was she slowly inched closer. Perhaps she trying to test him or really just see if he understood. The later was unnecessary. He had searched all the possible paths that existed so far. Perhaps it was something different entirely. He knew what the future held for now, but that could all change in the blink of an eye. ”Your thoughts are misplaced.” he said. No matter the reason he would not be swayed. ”I know full well this may make me an enemy of most everyone, however, that will not sway my decision; if they choose to stand in my way that is their decision. However I will not stop because of it.” he said. His price for yielding would be much higher in his eyes then they could know. ____________________________________________________ Tag: Mariya Song: ”Unfolding Time” by Broken Iris Key: Thoughts “Dialouge”

Your thoughts are misplaced.
"Are they?"
In the flash of an eye Mariya was to Darius' right, whispering in her ear seconds before disappearing again and reappearing right behind him. He would come to feel the colder than ice arms wrap around him from behind. One would have thought this was the being's way of coming onto him but they both knew better than that. Death had no such emotions. Where other angels would be tempted Mariya never saw passed the job. It would be impossible for her to become intimate with anyone even if she wanted to.
"You've grown to hate me haven't you? All those years of watching me take away your loved ones. Again and again because of this "grand design" that surrounds us. Yet you're forced to spread the same pain to the families of others to accomplish what you set out to do. They all ask the same question in the end you know. "Why?" It's funny, for all my power I never know the why or even the how. Only the when and the where of everyone the moment they are brought into this life."
Her lips returned to whisper into his ear.
"Even yours."

Darius didn’t blink an eye or even budge as she disappeared. Merely kept an eye on her position. There was a difference between inaction and carelessness, Darius did not intend to let the last occur. He made no move as she wrapped her arms around him from behind. Darius listened to her. She was mostly right. He already knew he took many lifes. It was why he remembered them. He knew it was not the same as them living, but it was some small reminder of what he was taking, the price of it all. He was already well aware of his origins. Too aware and that was the problem. If he had no knowledge he would have no qualms with his own existence, but he did. After learning all there was to learn, doing all there was to do, still he found no end. And so he had grown stronger searching for the way to end it all, but never succeeding. ”You misunderstand entirely.” Darius said possible surprising her. ”You have had nothing to do with those that I have lost.” he said. While she may think she had, his world ran itself. Once someone had lived as long as they should and would die of old age instead of simple disappearing as most would they became part of life itself. They were absorbed by them, or the light guarding their world. Originally formed by a noble effort of those who wanted a world of true peace. They became part of that, the power that others used on a daily basis, and was there wherever you looked. Most were unaware of this however assuming it had been there as long as the planet had existed. You could even talk to those departed if you knew how. However, it was never the same as having them beside you in the flesh. It was never the same as being able to hold them, and it was never helped with the process of watching them die again. ____________________________________________________ Tag: Mariya Song: ”Unfolding Time” by Broken Iris Key: Thoughts “Dialouge”

"No? There's no death in your word?"
Mariya didn't release the grip she had on Darius, instead she turned her head and rested it on his back. If anyone was to past them by they would assume they were just two lovers trying to stay warm in the middle of a blizzard. Mariya thought about all the versions of herself wandering the universe, all the avatars of Death being responsible for souls they previously had no stake in before the realms started to merge. Mariya could feel them all, feeling the same anguish she did. One was even currently trapped with a group of souls bombarding her with questions she could not answer. It was all too much to take. Any mortal man would have collapsed underneath the weight of it all. It was a good thing she wasn't mortal.
"Do they ever ask you why?"

Darius slowly shook his head. ”Not in the way you understand it. Yes people pass away on my world, but they do not disappear as on others. Instead they become part of the everyday routine, most do not even realize.” he said. It was only in a sense they were gone, but perhaps they were more there than ever. Aside from being there in any physical form. He paused. Sometimes they did, sometimes they were dead before they fully realized what was happening. ”On occasion they have. When they ask, I tell them it is unfortunate, but their existence is a threat.” he said. And his explanation was as simple as that. Whatever the cost he was willing to take it if it meant the end of the cycles. ____________________________________________________ Tag: Mariya Song: ”Unfolding Time” by Broken Iris Key: Thoughts “Dialouge”[/center]

"Do people get to see their loved ones? Are they still there in the flesh? If not then it's really not all that different."
When he answered her second question Mariya could only snort as she finally released him from her grasp and walked around to his front. He certainly wasn't one to shy away from the consequences of his actions, you'd have to not be in order to be so amazingly blunt.
"I guess one can afford to be heartless when powerful."

The truth be told. No most never knew, but then again most never cared. ”No.” he said. If he had been the kind for it a small smile would have played across his lips at how much she didn’t know, but he wasn’t. That smile never came. People found it difficult to feel anything but happiness. Even the loss of a loved one lasted a day or two before it was replaced once again, but they had the memories, but they were better off. And the ones left behind knew that. Then again most of them didn’t have the memories of seeing those they loved die countless times. Just once. Darius once again shifted his gaze to follow her. ”Some would describe me as that.” he agreed, though most had no idea of most the things that went on. ”Although I’m sure history will show me as a weak fool.” he said. After all people tried to leave their mark on history. And when Darius finally found a way to end the cycles history would not be able to see him as anything other than just that. A fool. ____________________________________________________ Tag: Mariya Song: ”Unfolding Time” by Broken Iris Key: Thoughts “Dialouge”
