Superwoman knew that Mayor Carari Grey did not like her one bit. She saw her as a vigilante that needed to be locked up but regardless of that Carari needed to know about the people that wanted her dead. Superwoman could only hope that the mayor would hear her out. The only warning Carari would feel of her arrival into the office would be that of a cool gentle breeze as now, the caped blonde stood across from her desk with her hands pressed up against it looking down at the mayor. "We need to talk." Here went nothing.
"I know you don't like me and that's fine, that's your right. But there are people who want you dead. An unknown group of thugs were found at the old warehouse in town, they had hostages and they admitted to being the ones to had hired your assassin who ended up dead. There was a woman there too. Long dark hair and silver eyes, wore all black and had something "off" about her. She also wants you dead. Now I want to help but I need to know if you know of any reason why so many people want you dead."

Carari Grey looked up when she felt the rush of wind and narrowed her eyes upon the sight of the vigilante she’s grown to despised since her debut during her “sworn in” speech as the mayor. Now all Moon Valley could talk about, instead of her, was Superwoman and how amazing of a person she was. They didn’t even know anything about her. At least with Carari there was a story the public could look up, what did they have of her to look up? Nothing! Carari Grey would never understand the public. Be it a professional wrestling audience or an entire population of people.
“You have some nerve coming here. Who the hell do you think you are!?”
Carari held herself back when Superwoman talked about people wanting her dead, but one piece of information stuck out the most and that was when she described the woman with dark hair and silver eyes. There was only one person on Genesis with that eye color and it was the one Maricul had called “The Night Angel.” So, Amoura wanted her dead. No doubt she knew about her affiliation with Maricul. Suddenly Superwoman wasn’t looking so bad.
“There’s many reasons people would want me dead,” began Carari, leaning back in her chair, “My policies, beliefs, power, money, or it could have something to do with the gateway to hell three feet from your current position.”

"What?" Superwoman turned around and started looking through the floors in the room with her X-Ray Vision. Her eyes would see a round gray seal with devil drawings on it way down below buried deep in the basement of the building but upon trying to look down deeper something was blocking her vision. Perhaps it truly was a gateway to another world. The demon world. "All right what's going on!?" demanded Superwoman as she looked back to Carari angry and confused.

“What I say doesn’t leave this room. Then again no one would believe you anyway. No one of importance that is.”
Whether her enemies liked it or not, she had the public eating out the palm of her hand, for the most part. She knew how to play the politics game and she also knew that even heroes like Superwoman words could only take her so far without any proof. That was the way the world worked. Be it Earth or Genesis.
“I was appointed this job as mayor of Moon Valley for one specific task: to guard the seal of the demon world like my predecessor Luca Valentine did. The seal is why this city attracts so much supernatural activity to begin with. To the general public I’m just a mayor, in truth I’m a guardian and the only thing keeping this world from being plunged into darkness. No surprise our silver-eyed friend is involved with plotting my demise. She has a habit of destroying every world she inhabits.”

Superwoman blinked, pressed her hands off of the desk and took a step back. Needless to say she was blown away by the reveal, all this time their mayor was guarding more than just their civil liberties. She was guarding hell itself. "You're telling me that all this time, we were living above a hellhole!?" Unbelievable. Tori was right, there was a reason why so much supernatural activity occurred here, but none of them was prepared to hear the reason. Superwoman assumed that was why everything concerning the seal had remained secret for so long. "How many people know about this?"

Interesting choice of words in Carari’s opinion. Now it would be the mayor’s turn to keep a cool head while the other person was starting to get worked up. To think this was only from one person. Carari never wanted to see what would happen if the entire town found out about the gateway of the hell dimension or a place like Isafaro or Aircano for that matter. One would want it for the power gain and the other would probably call them all heretics upon discovery and have them killed.
“Asides from you and I? Not many. How these people found out about it is a mystery to me but I can only assume they want the gateway as a bargaining chip.”

"Bargaining chip?" Superwoman didn't want to know what they would do if they got their hands on the seal, the very idea made her shudder and this was coming from an invulnerable living being so that wasn't a good sign. She wished she had managed to get the name of the group but it seemed that the mayor knew about their newly acquired ally. A person Kara felt she would inevitably have to face if all reason failed to reach her ears. "What can you tell me about the woman?"

“When you want your demands to be heard you need something to force the other side’s hand. Some use kidnapping a loved one, others plant bombs. Imagine if a terrorist group got into possession of that seal. They could hold the entire planet hostage with it. That’s why I’m here.”
Carari pulled out a pack of cigarettes from her desk and lit one up, placing it inside of her mouth and smoking its contents before responding to Superwoman’s question.
“Elizabeth “Marie” Gatekeeper but only answers to Amoura “Clarice” Ethelia or The Night Angel. She’s a vampire, demon hybrid who uses stealth and fear tactics against her enemies. Sometimes prone to dropping the occasional bad one-liner. With her is enough emotional baggage to bury most psychologists. Death normally follows wherever she goes.”
Carari drew the cigarette from her mouth and blew out a smoke ring. This was not common information that was being given to the superhero. “The Seductress” Maricul, was a great source of knowledge and relaying information that many would rather keep secret.
“She’s a threat to every man, woman and child on Genesis.”

Carari Grey knew more about this Amoura person than she could have asked for. "A vampire-demon hybrid?" That was a mixing Superwoman never thought possible until now. Then again with all these different worlds merging it may very well be impossible here while still being possible wherever Amoura came from. Superwoman thought back to that fateful day in Hallowton, how all out hell was unleashed and Amoura herself was in the thick of it all. Was she the reason behind that whole attack? Would Moon Valley be next on the list? No. Kara couldn't think like that and she wouldn't allow this woman to plunge Moon Valley into the same type of chaos. It was her home and she would protect it with her life. "How do I beat her?"

Carari snorted. Like anything around here would ever be that easy. She stuck the cigarette back in her mouth and continued to smoke before going on further.
“Your best bet is to force her into a retreat.”
As Carari said this she stood up from her desk and turned around to look out the very same window Superwoman came in through only a few minutes ago.
“If she believes there’s no chance of success on her part she’ll leave on her own. Of course, that’s easier said than done. You shouldn’t forget about the terrorist group either. They’re most likely the brains behind this entire operation. Amoura is just a fortunate distraction to keep you out of their way.”
While she spoke Carari had turned back around to face Superwoman, the cigarette between her index and middle fingers again as she blew out another puff of smoke from her lips, turning her head as to not have it blow Superwoman’s direction.
“Either one get their hands on the seal it’s all over.”

"I won't let that happen." Superwoman would make sure neither got their hands on the seal. It was funny how life worked some times. In the beginning it was just a thug with a gun trying to take out a political figure. Now it was about demons, vampires and a gateway that threatened to swallow them all whole in the wrong hands. It reminded her of the situation with the Downward Spiral and Isafaro declaring war on Crystal City. Speaking of which, that made her think of something. "Couldn't one access that seal through the Downward Spiral? With the worlds merging as they are isn't it possible what lies beyond that seal could end up merging with us too?"

That was the smartest thing Carari heard come out of Superwoman’s mouth since she made her debut in the public’s eye by saving her life from that assassin.
“Even with the most advanced technology it would take centuries to understand how to work the Downward Spiral. It would be easier for the terrorist group to just kill me and open the seal here.”

That was one concern off her mind but the threat on the mayor's life still remained and it had to be dealt with. One way or another. Superwoman refused to take anybody's life, a characteristic that set her apart from the rest and that was the whole point. As a superhero she had to be more. As Superwoman she was a symbol for all the things that were still good, just and pure about Genesis, Jherra and Moon Valley. Something these terrorists would never understand. Kara wouldn't let them have their way. "How do I find them?"

“They’ll find you.”
Taking one final puff of her cigarette Carari burnt it out on the ash tray found on her desk and sat back down in her chair. There was work to be done and the mayor couldn’t spend this entire night talking to just one person. Even if it was Superwoman.
“If there is nothing else you require I’m going to have to ask you to leave. I have other matters to attend to. We can’t let the terrorists change how we live after all.”

That was unnerving. And when the invulnerable felt nervous that didn't speak too well for the vulnerable. Regardless, Superwoman wouldn't let it show on her face. As the defender of Moon Valley she had a responsibility to rise above the obstacles that stood in her way and this situation was no different. "Don't worry, Mayor. I won't let anything happen to you!" With those words Superwoman flew out of the opened window and off into the sky. She had to make preparation for the inevitable confrontation and knew just the person to go to.
