History: Not much is known about Quan Chi's history, he was born in the Netherrealm and spent many years learning and mastering the darkest of sorcery so that he may one day rule over the entire Netherrealm. Ever cunning, manipulative and an opportunist, Quan Chi bide his time with former ruler of the Netherrealm Lord Hades and when the time was right, he removed Lord Hades from his throne and ascended as supreme ruler of the Netherrealm, using his necromancy to take control of Genesis' strongest warriors and once they arrived to him upon their deaths, they were but mere slaves to his power, though they would not know it.
Quan Chi made several trips to the upper-world of Genesis, taking many forms each visit so he could venture into the world unseen. During one of his trips he studied and observed the Shirai Ryu warrior Scorpion and decided that he would make a powerful servant to the Netherrealm. Taking the form of his rival clan's top assassin Sub-Zero, Quan Chi killed Scorpion's family and clan and then resurrected Scorpion as a spectre. Allowing Scorpion's desire for revenge to consume him they later returned to Genesis and Scorpion saw to the death of Sub-Zero, removing his candidacy as God of Jherra allowing for Lord Yahweh to rule over the continent for the next 10,000 years.
Unbeknownst to Scorpion, upon returning to the Netherrealm Quan Chi also resurrected Sub-Zero and turned him into the wraith Noob Saibot, now having both the Shirai Ryu and Lin Kuei strongest assassins at his side.
