History: Kasey's earliest memories are of the bulling older children at St. Anna's home for abandoned children, where she was sent as a four year old. She had no memories of her birth parents or where she'd spent the first four years of her young life.
When Kasey was ten, she was adopted by Stephen Sobotka, who recognized her as a member of the Mai race. Sobotka was the CEO of a genetics lab called Purity Reseach, which unbeknownst to the young Casey, was a front for S.C.R.A., a group that Margaret Walsh was also a member.
Kasey was sixteen when her Mai abilities first manifested when she was attacked by a mugger on her way home from a drama club meeting at her high school. Kasey's fear of what she'd done to the man's face kept him alive that night as all her instincts were screaming at her to kill her attacker and she ran the remaining two miles in less than fifteen minutes, seeking the safety of home.
About a week following the incident, Kasey made the mistake of revealing her claws to Steven, who immediately had her brought to Purity Research, where she would spend the next three years of her life as the property of SCRA. During the last hour she spent with Sobotka, he told her about the Mai, and that she was of that race.
It was shortly after Sobotka's betrayal that Kasey met Dr. Conrad Valchek, who for the three years of her imprisonment would become her main tormenter, even going so far as to kill George Keller, a latino guard assigned to keep her in her cell and one of the only people to show her kindness, right in front of her on her seventeenth birthday.
Keller's death had the desired effects on Kasey that Valchek had hoped, breaking her spirit, and Kasey's training as an agent of SCRA began.
Shortly after her nineteenth birthday, Kasey, who had been given the codename of Agent Lynx, was cleared for missions and sent to assassinate a state senator that was asking to many questions about Purity Research. This time the joke was on Valchek as Kasey broke out of the brainwashing, tipping off Senator Edward Carcetti to the death plot and using his resources to go into hiding.
Using the name Kaitlyn O'Roarke, she boarded a flight in Washington D.C. on Carcetti's dime, and landed on the other side of the country, looking to get as far away from her former captors as possible.
