"Brave," replied Kara after a moment of silence. "It takes courage to keep on living in this life, Aminee. And trust me I've been on the other side, it's really not a whole lot better than this."

"Then it doesn't really matter if I live or die now does it?" Aminee never believed in an afterlife prior to coming to Genesis, but after everything she had seen here it wasn't a matter of believing anymore. It was saddening to think that if she did kill herself then she wouldn't have found any peace in the aftermath. Suicide wasn't a matter of courage or cowardice to her. It was an escape route, and now it was only an escape route to a worse life than this one. "What was it like? Being dead."

"Don't talk like that."
Kara placed her hand on Aminee's shoulder to comfort her. It was funny how quick the one who needed comfort had switched since Kara first arrived at the apartment.
"It matters."
Kara retracted the hand from the Pop Idol's shoulder at the question and thought back to that day trying her hardest to remember.
"You don't realize you're dead straight away. You just think you've been sleeping for a while and were transported somewhere else. I was in the middle of a snowfield wandering between paradise and damnation, belonging to neither until Tori rescued me. It took me a while but eventually I realized that I was no longer alive and hated myself for failing my friends. The second time I died was different. I wasn't just killed, I was wiped from existence. There was nothing and then, suddenly, I was floating before the Creator again in space. So the second time I didn't feel anything. I didn't exist."

"It matters to you because you're my friend. If I was a stranger you wouldn't care." Aminee explained flatly. People were a lot more selfish than any one person wanted to admit to. They made attachments to people and only cared about them, anyone outside the circle could shove it. It was just the way they were. Herself included. "Are you sure you were even dead?"

"I'm sorry, have you met me?"
To think that after everything she had done for strangers Aminee would make such a claim. She must have been suffering from some memory loss.
"Oh, I'm sure. I shared a body with Tori's ghost after we returned because Darkseid had destroyed her body when he killed her. It's not what we were taught in Sunday school but that is what the afterlife looks like. Our afterlife anyway."

"No I haven't. My name is Aminee Starlight and who might you be?" Aminee joked. "Yeah, I remember that. That was weird. I also remember how I felt after your body disappeared. How casual everyone else was about it. Like it was no big surprise, like death had no consequence. I feel so out of place here, Kara. I feel alone even when I'm surrounded by people."

Kara smiled at Aminee's joke.
"That's more like it."
The smile faded after Aminee began talking about the day of her funeral, the day of her resurrection, and how she felt at the sight of her missing body. A sympathic expression appeared on the former Woman of Steel's face before she replied:
"I'm sorry, Aminee. I didn't mean to run off the way I did after I returned but I couldn't stick around. And in a way I know how you feel. Everyone else from my homeworld is dead. I'm the last of my kind. I often wonder what my real parents were like, what the rest of my kind were like. Were their abilities different than my own or was it all the same? Now I'll never know."

"Wait, what do you mean homeworld? You're not from here?" Aminee always assumed that Kara was born on Genesis. With all the other things that were native here a person with superhuman strength, speed, invulnerability, etc. etc. weren't all that hard to believe. But it sounded as if she was born elsewhere. "What happened to them?"

Kara shook her head.
"I crashed here when I was two."
Kara couldn't remember it, being so young. But when her parents felt she was old enough to know the truth they showed her the space ship that had crash landed here and that was the day she found out where she came from. It made perfect sense as her strength and speed had already manifested at that point and she was only growing stronger everyday.
"My parents found me and took me in. They raised me as if I was their own and I'm eternally grateful to them for that. My homeworld was destroyed. I don't know the full details of what caused the planet's destruction. I just know that I'm the only survival. The last kryptonian. Though I suppose now I'm not even that."

"You flew a ship when you were two?" Aminee thought that was impressive, the crash not withstanding. "I'm sorry, Kara."

"Well, no. I didn't fly it manually. It was put on auto-pilot. And don't be sorry it wasn't your fault. While I would have liked to know more about my own world and its people Genesis has been and always will be my first home to me. I'm happy to be here, to have met you."

"Right, how silly of me." Even though they lived in a world where a girl can become the pope at the age of twelve and children can be more war-torn than some adults she knew, this realm still fell to the same logic as her own when it came to infants operating heavy machinery. "I'm glad to have met you too, Kara. And I'm glad you're back."

"Glad to be back, but enough about me. I want to hear about you. What have you been up to since the war?"

At Kara's question, Aminee looked over to the piece of paper and pen she had put down prior to answering the door. She grabbed the piece of paper that possessed the lyrics she had written down earlier and looked back to the former Woman of Steel. "I was working on a song before you came over. I'm looking to get a fresh start in the music business here in Kari. I have a meeting scheduled for tomorrow."

Kara took the piece of paper from Aminee's hand and looked it over, a smile grew on her young facial features as she glanced it over before giving it back to the Pop Idol.
"That looks great, Aminee! You'll knock them dead for sure. I always thought you had such a beautiful voice."
