“I fail to see how the universes merging together has to do with growing hair.”
At Yalea's command T'Stala walked over to the center of the room with the rest of the Away Team and pressed her combadge.
“Transporter room, three to beam up.”
A bright blue light filled up the three and they disappeared, being transported back onto the USS Midori in orbit.

“Because someone with my capabilities could eradicate this entire planet and possibly make things suck for everyone. This planet and it's happenings are unknown despite our omnipotence. It's like that one hair that stands out on end regardless of how often you mess with it. Sometimes, you just need to teach the hair to grow the right way. That's why you Federation are needed. I need hairs to go back with your fancy hairdos.”
“I fail to see how the universes merging together has to do with growing hair.”
Yalea could only chuckle at the comment made by her first officer before she beamed back up to the ship. Now that she was alone with the man, Yalea slowly leaned back in her chair. Somewhat in awe that a man, an alien race, she read so many tales about were sitting before her here today so early into her career as captain.
“I've always dreamt about meeting you. The great Q!”
She exclaimed, raising up her arms to further illustrate before dropping them.
“Devious, amoral, unreliable, irresponsible, untrustworthy, obnoxious...”
She repeated the descriptions used in the briefing she attended once reaching command status, curious to see and gauge his reaction to such claims.

Q looked at the captain with a look of almost horror. That was what they thought of the great and powerful Q? After all he had done for them? How... predictable. What an absolutely riveting description of me. Tell me, do you know my high school football career? How about my retirement plan? You humans think you know everything about everyone, don't you. 'Oh Q's a bad man who just want to meddle.' Why must all you Federation captains think I'm so bad? I followed through with the deals I made, and I've obviously got your best interests at heart. Or, whatever you'd call in me that would equate your "heart". Though I suppose I'm glad you at least dreamt of meeting me.

“Do you deny it?”

“Humanity best interest at heart. Is that what you think?”
Asked the captain as she stood up from her seat and moved to stand behind it.
“Tell me how many lives were killed while you were having humanity's best interest at heart?”

I neither agree nor disagree, personally. I can be whatever I wish, so it'd be wrong of me to say otherwise.
Tell me, captain, as a child, wasn't the best way to learn no to touch something was to get hurt? Be it from getting cut, smacked, burned, frozen, the pain taught you not to do it again, and it jogged your little minds to try to find out how you can overcome that. You humans work best when you get hurt, when there is a challenge to overcome. Me meddling would make you stagnant.

“There's a difference between mankind needing obstacles to survive and unnecessary death.”
Came the captain's answer as she pressed her hands up against the back of the leather seat. Coming to another disturbing realization.
“Is this what happened to Ambassador Spock?”
Yalea remembered what she learned in history at the Academy. When Romulus was destroyed by a supernova. Spock disappeared soon after preventing the supernova from wiping out the whole galaxy. Spock was presumed dead. Was it possible that he was pulled here or a place similar? Was it possible he was still alive? And if so did that mean they would never see home again? The thought didn't sit too well with the captain.
“Funny this planet's name. Genesis. A little cosmic space humor?” said Yalea in reference to the Genesis Device.

Spock? That old windbag? I remember when he was sucked into that black drain of a black hole. He was an old noble soul who's time in the galaxy was over. How heartbreaking. I weep in thought.
Q flipped his hand to his head and faked a faint, then looked up bemusedly.
I will tell you though he's doing a lot more good than you could possibly wrap your head around. He could, in theory pop up here.
And no, it has nothing to do with your little fusty device. I don't care for the name really.

“You're no short on tact, I see.”

“You know where he is?”
“And no, it has nothing to do with your little fusty device. I don't care for the name really.”
“Could be worse. Could just be a lonely letter of the alphabet.”

Of course I do. When I'm not looking like this, I do know. But that's for me to know, and you to find out... somehow. Not my problem.
How rude, but it's not my real name, sorry. My real name is two light years long, and explaining cold fusion to a child would be easier.
Our problem, however, is more important right here and right now. We need to figure out where this planet's going, power-wise. We don't need something of this much potential to be controlled by the wrong people. I can not directly interfere and eliminate people. The Continuum, fusty things, brought me here originally without any sort of power. It was dreadful. And then they refused to allow me to hurt anyone directly. I can't interfere with the power play here as much as I could. And too much normal interference is risky. I need a meddler, a goodie-goodie-two-shoes to do this. You, Captain, fit that role wonderfully. Even though you're not my dear Picard.

“Terrible to have your hands tied up like that,” Yalea said with a small, amused smile on her face.
“Are you asking for my help?”

Oh, you have no idea how terrible it is. I am not a creature who enjoys being shackled in any way.
Q leaned forward from his chair and his usually expressive face turned serious.
I am not asking. I hold the one thing you desperately need, and my price is your help.

“Few creatures are.”
“I am not asking. I hold the one thing you desperately need, and my price is your help.”
“You already made it clear you can't help us. What then are you offering?”

I made it clear that you can't do anything. I however, am I different story. I have a ticket out through the Continuum, and I can bring you home with me. You and your crew must try to bring Genesis to some form of harmony, and get it to settle down, whatever the cost. If not, you're stuck here. If so, you get to go home, and I will be out of the way. It's a straightforward deal, mind you, and there are no strings attached.

“I should have known. You want me to violate the Prime Directive.”

Q rose up from his chair and walked right next to Yalea.
You've already violated the Prime Directive by being here. There are other space-faring people here, who probably detected your uncloaked ship. I've heard of ships from Earth that match nothing you have. So you have nothing to fear.
