T'Stala went back over to the console and began adjusting it to the best of her ability.
“If I'm to understand it correctly these levers increase the power of the transporter while the knobs change its frequency. Unless I can find a way to translate the symbols...”
T'Stala looked up from the console to see the valley turning into a pathway of a dead city and a volcanic region before stopping on a Colosseum.

“The most you can do is channel surf.”

“An odd comparison but correct.”
Replied T'Stala as she stepped away from the console to rejoin her captain's side.

“An odd comparison but correct.”
“How long would it take you to translate the symbols?”

“Seeing that this place isn't already crawling with scientists or any other interest group I can only assume that it wouldn't be anywhere in the near future, Captain.”

“See what you can find out anyway. If we're to ever return home then we need to learn as much about this tower as we can. I want to know how it ticks.”

“Yes, Captain. I will run a scan of the symbols and then return to the ship.”
T'Stala turned around and began to head out of the room to do just that.

“I'll meet you back at the ship once I'm done here.”
“Captain.”
Yalea turned to the other two science officers, going over to the ledge of the platform they were currently standing on.
“Yes, what is it?”
“Take a look down there.”
Yalea peered over the ledge and saw a large pile of blood a couple of floors below. The aftermath of what looked to be an intense and gruesome battle right here in the tower itself. The tricorders picking up strong readings from it all the way up here.
“Let's have a closer look then, shall we gentlemen?”

T'Stala returned to the room the Away Team had started in scanning the various symbols found on the walls to study up on further back at the ship. While she was scanning these symbols more thoroughly her scanner would detect a temporal distortion but when she attempted to pinpoint the location T'Stala found that it was everywhere. Even if she wanted to follow a single trail she would never be able to narrow it down to just one. Meaning that she would be going in completely blind if she chose to search for just one of the distortions. Only one word could summarize all of this up.
“Fascinating.”

Yalea went down to the level where the literal bloodbath was located. Extending her hand towards one of the science officers.
“Your tricorder.”
The science officer handed the captain his tricorder allowing Yalea to do her own scans of the room. What her naked eyes could see however were terrible enough. Four mangled corpses laid down on the ground unrecognizable without scans to verify that they were indeed human. Three of them anyways. In addition there were pieces of an unknown creature that remained. The blood having dried up indicating how long it had been present in the room. The smell unbearable. Next were the temporal distortions which were even stronger in this room than where T'Stala were currently scanning.
“What in the world happened here?”
“I'm getting unusual readings from the fourth humanoid, Captain. The first three are definitely human.”
“Captain. There are some strong temporal distortions coming from the bodies. The strongest of which are radiating from the non-humanoid at the center of the room.”
Yalea clicked on her combadge to open up communications with the ship.
“Captain Emris to Midori, lock on to my coordinates and beam aboard the causalities by my position. I want to know what happened here. Emris out.”
The crew member on the other end acknowledged and them beaned up the corpses to Sick Bay to be properly examined. The good doctor was going to have a field day with this mess. Yalea clicked on her combadge again to contact T'Stala.
“Miss T'Stala, what's your status?”

“Scanning the different symbols now, Captain. I have detected temporal distortions registering from everywhere within the tower.”

“Scanning the different symbols now, Captain. I have detected temporal distortions registering from everywhere within the tower.”
“We've found a bloodbath. Five causalities, four of which are humanoid the last unknown. Whatever did this to them left no room for error. The good news is the blood is dry and the remains are old. It's doubtful that the one responsible is still here but I want you on the alert. If this place truly is a gateway to other worlds then there's no telling what all we can find here or what they're capable of.”

“Acknowledged, Captain. I'll keep communications open as a precautionary measure.”
T'Stala lowered her hand from the combadge and went back to her scans, getting closer to the unknown energy that flowed through the walls deep in the cracks of where the symbols were carved in the interior. While she was doing this the energy would break apart, turning a bright hue of red and attacking the Vulcan. Producing a sensation similar to electricity, shocking her and sending her plummeting to her knees and then to her side dropping the tricorder.

“Acknowledged, Captain. I'll keep communications open as a precautionary measure.”
Yalea went back to investigating but it would be short lived as she heard an energy disperse from the other end of her communicator followed by the sounds of her first officer falling to the floor.
“T'Stala, are you all right? T'Stala, respond!”
When she received no answer she beckoned the other two to follow her and then ran back up the staircases to T'Stala's position to find her wounded on the floor. Kneeling down beside her Yalea looked her over carefully placing a hand on her shoulder.
“T'Stala, what happened?”

Q poked his head through the crack of the wall, staring intently at the fallen Vulcan. A smile started creeping on his face, turning into a grin, and resulting in laughter. Much laughter. Q walked out of the side of the wall fully and crouched next to the fallen Vulcan. He tapped the commbadge on his chest, now synced with their frequency, and spoke with glee, barely able to repress a giggle..
Hello, Starfleet. It has been a long time since I have seen your silly little faces! Tell me, what brings you here to Genesis? Get caught like all the others, I suppose?
