“Where have you been!?” Boomed the voice of the manager as Achlys entered the pizza place where she worked. The earlier incident with Kat causing her to be late for the first time since handing in her resume and getting the job. Before she could even get a word in to her boss he was at it again. A chubby, short, nearly bald headed man with a black mustache and thick eyebrows and voice range that could go on for miles if he wanted it to. “I have over twenty deliveries that are late because we're understaffed and you couldn't get here on time!” Achlys closed her eyes as spit from the man's lips reached her face. Having a hard time looking away from the vein in her boss' forehead that appeared to be ready to pop at any moment. For a second time Achlys tried to say something in her defense only to be interrupted again. “We have demons and what have you running amuck and people want their pizza. Pizza may very well be the last thing they ever eat before they die, if it arrives before they die. How am I supposed to explain to our customers that they may miss their last meal because our delivery girl was late! Huh? Huh!?”
This man certainly had a knack for the melodramatics. Achlys could think of way nicer last meals for a person than just pizza but of course she wasn't going to say any of that out loud. Instead when it looked like she was finally giving some breathing space she explained: “I ran into an illegal on the way here who were trying to find her sister. The authorities got involved and I was held up for a bit. It won't happen again.” “See that it doesn't! Get these pizza boxes on your bike and deliver them to these addresses on the double!” “Yes sir.” “What was that?” “Yes sir!” “That's what I like to hear!” Achlys rolled her eyes the second her boss turned his back. Causing some of her coworkers who saw it to snicker as she grabbed the boxes and headed back outside where her bike was chained up in the parking lot. “We have demons running around, Achlys,” she mocked, “This could be their last meal, Achlys. They may die before you get to them, Achlys. Give me a break.”
