The dawn arrived over Hallowton, and while the city slept, plans were already being laid. As the dawn rose, a massive castle shimmered into being on the outskirts of Hallowton, overlooking the plains between Kari and Hallowton. Dark spires and turrets rose far above the parapets of the massive black wall that surrounded it, the ground around it pristine, filled with elaborate topiary displays, rose gardens, hedge mazes and everything else that could be imagined. The castle itself rose seven stories over the land, and at the wide balcony on the second floor stood a solitary figure with a wineglass in his hand. His black hair hung around his face, a half smile playing along his lips as his black eyes scanned the horizon. Dressed in loose black trousers of silk and a grey button up shirt of matching material, he hardly struck an imposing figure. Of course, the least threatening were usually the most dangerous. He drains his glass of wine, setting it on the bannister to be cleaned up by his serving staff as he turned and strode back into this castle. It would only be here for a short time, but he felt it fitting that if he were to throw a party, the guests should have every luxury and indulgence. It was past time that he'd begun getting to know his new neighbors.
The invitations had been sent out to all those that had sparked his interest, and if what he'd heard about the man he'd hired to take control of the serving staff here for the moment, he'd be arriving shortly himself. He seemed the punctual type. He slips into a pair of black leather boots before proceeding down to the first floor audience hall, lowering himself into his black marble throne, raising his hand to rest his cheek against his knuckles. It would be a long day before the guests began arriving at twilight, and there was much to do. With any luck, the demon wouldn't keep him waiting long, and they would be able to begin their preparations soon. While he waited, he began going over what he'd had in mind. He'd heard of the celebration of this "Halloween" on other worlds, but it was something much different on his. On his world, it was a night for dark magics and rituals of power. It was when all the terrifying things in the night had the most power and were free to wreak havoc on the world of the living while even mighty paladin orders cowered in fear of the display of strength. But for the time being, a party would be more than acceptable. Any entertainment to come of it, well...he'd have to see how the night went. A half smile danced along his lips as he sat in thought, waiting for the first of the night's players to arrive.

A party, huh...? He pondered over what was to come as he walked down one of many hallways in the Hellsing manor; returning from waking up Sir Integra and bringing her the usual morning tea, cigar, and newspaper. She had tried to give him a day off once before, and now she had done so in a more clever way. She was giving him a day off from Hellsing duties, but she had taken into account that he would work anyway... So now, he had been told to go cater a party... Integra had been holding a crisp white envelope upon his entrance, and had a rather... Sardonic smile in place. She had received this invitation to a Halloween party from one 'Nicodemus.' However, she had no intention of attending any parties. But there had been more than an invitation in envelope, there had also been a request to hire her butler for the event. He'd of course been reluctant to leave her side, but he'd said nothing. It was his master's choice after all. "I figured you'd find some way to work even while on a break I grant you; so you will go cater this party for Nicodemus this evening." That strange smile had remained, as if she were amused that he had no choice; she most likely had been laughing to herself. It hadn't been a question, it had been a statement; and she obviously expected him to do it... So that made it an order... So here he was, crouched atop one of the highest roofs of the Queen's castle, silhouetted against the sky which was showing the first rays of dawn. The letter had said to keep a lookout for a castle to appear on the plains between Kari and Hallowton at precisely 6am. And sure enough, as the hour struck, he saw the shimmering of seemingly empty space in the designated area... And the castle materialized. This world was so strange... That a structure that magnificent could just... Appear out of thin air... Or perhaps it had always been there, and had simply been invisible to the human eye? Well... It didn't matter. Much as he disliked it, he had a new task for the day, and it was time to begin. He would show no evidence of a grudging attitude though; that would have been so very unprofessional. Before the time changed to 6:01, he was standing before the massive doors, studying the majestic architecture. He had to admit, this Nicodemus fellow certainly had a taste for creating a castle which was appealing to the eye. Without wasting a second, a hand rose to take hold of the heavy brass knocker, and he brought it down against the door with heavy but muffled bangs; three total, anymore could be considered signs of an impatient visitor. The Hellsing coat of arms was pinned to the chest of his tailcoat would help the party host recognize who had come to his door in under a minute after he had first revealed the castle. The moment the door was opened, no doubt by a servant of Nicodemus', he would seek out the man to properly introduce himself. A pleasant smile would hide all his misgivings about being away from his master for a full day. The door would open in no time at all, and the butler found himself face to face with a maid. "Straight ahead, Sir; please. You'll find the master in the audience hall just beyond the lobby..." She stepped back to hold the door open for him, and he bowed his head graciously to her. Of course, he didn't miss the light flush which had risen to the woman's cheeks at the polite greeting; but now he didn't have the time to waste to amuse himself with the reaction. He walked by her, a purpose in his step, and made directly for the large double doors at the entrance to the audience hall. The doors had been propped open, so he could clearly see the man upon his throne at the far end. Well... Time for a proper greeting... This wasn't the first time he had approached someone who seemed to appreciate life similar to a King's, with the throne and all. The butler stepped into the hall and moved toward the man, stopping a respectful number of meters in front of him. The demon rested a white gloved hand and rested it on his chest, then sank into a deep bow at the waist while inclining his head. Had this man been his contracted master, he would have knelt. But as he was only a human hosting a party; the bow would be plenty formal enough. "Good morning, Sir... Sebastian Michaelis, butler to Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing; who received your invitation and has chosen to grant your request... I am at your service, and will do my utmost to aid you in running this party to the best of my ability..." He held the bow, and would continue until given consent to rise. Nicodemus stirs from his thoughts as he hears the resounding boom of the door knocker, knowing that at least his guess had been correct, the butler was punctual. How very professional of him. Not to mention quick. It had been less than a minute since his castle had been brought into being and he had barely any time to seat himself and sink into his thoughts before the man was there. Either he had been remarkably astute in guessing where the castle would appear, or there was more to him than would meet the eye. He hoped for the latter, it made things so much more interesting that way. Perhaps this social gathering wouldn't be nearly so droll with a little intrigue to spice things up. He smiles as the butler approaches, taking in his immaculate appearance and the manner with which he carried himself. Both highly competent and professional, excellent qualities and only made him lament the fact that he'd already been gathered up by Hellsing. He'd be willing to pay a great deal for someone like Sebastian. Good help was so hard to find after all. He smiles as Sebastian bows, a genuine grin of pure amusement. He rises from his throne, chuckling lightly. "Rise Sebastian." he says with a light smile, "I didn't know that such manners still existed in this day and age. It is so refreshing, and so formal. I find myself already fairly impressed by you." he says with another grin.
"I'm glad I was able to obtain your help, I can only hope that your performance will be as magnificent as what I've come to expect, given the things I've heard of you." he says, extending his hand in greeting. One way to tell a lot by a person was how they shook hands, especially males, he'd found. The pressure on the grip, the speed with which they respond, the expressions they make. All of it were clues that told him more about the person, and now he wanted to learn more of Sebastian. "Has Sir Integra filled you in on my plans thus far? Or has she just told you that you shall be on loan for a short time?" he questions, wondering how much the butler already knew. It would make things quicker if the butler already knew what the vague plan was, and he could use some help refining it. His social courtesies were rather dusty, and he hadn't hosted any sort of event in ages. Not since his former days as the High King had he done such. However, he felt it was time to get to know the people of this world. "Ah, forgive me, my courtesies are not what they once were. I am Nicodemus Archleon, lord of this castle. I've sought your aid in hosting a party, as I've heard many good things about you and I'm certain you've much more experience in this area than I." he says, laughing lightly. He could carry on with his titles, but he was certain they'd be meaningless to Sebastian, doubting he'd ever even heard of Dominaria, let alone the nations in it. They were irrelevant in any case, as they held no ground or meaning here. On Genesis, he was just another man that had arrived here, albeit of his own choosing.

Once given clearance to rise, the butler straightened up; looking as ‘dapper’ as usual. The crimson gaze would rise to lock on the dark eyes of his master for the day, curious and scrutinizing. The man was… Intriguing… Human, yes, yet he could sense a certain power emanating from him. He had been able to just make a castle appear out of thin air, what else could he do? Even his scent was nearly tantalizing. This was one of few humans he felt he could respect; both for attitude and their power… Their sense of authority and the way in which they carried themselves as well as lived their lives. Nicodemus was an interesting human if anything. The demon may have considered offering a contract had he not already been contracted to Integra. As the man spoke, Sebastian simply dipped his head again. ”Yes, manners and formality seemed to have faded over the years… I make an effort to retain those, while most of reality slowly forgets... I am humbled that you find me passable, and shall make an effort to not lower your view of me…”So… Then man had heard about him? From whom? Simple residents of Hallowton? Former refugees living in their own sectors within the city? The main square of Hallowton which was nestled at the base of the Queen’s Castle had become familiar with him over the past few months; he certainly visited often enough on errands for Hellsing. Something about him made him easy to like and appreciate, to respect; despite his status as a mere servant. Out of all of Hellsing, it was him who was most often seen out and about. All of those things would certainly explain how Nicodemus had come to learn of Hellsing’s butler and put forth a request for his services. Then the hand was extended to shake, and Sebastian hesitated. A handshake? For a servant? Handshakes were the greeting between two equals, two friends or acquaintances. While he may not have been Nicodemus’ personal butler, he was still only a servant… It wasn’t proper to greet a superior as an equal. But no… Nicodemus had made the first gesture, so it would be proper to comply. He extended his own gloved hand after the brief hesitation to clasp Nicodemus’, offering a slight smile. ”It’s an honor to meet you, Lord Archleon.” He said after the greeting. He released the hand after a moment, and then lowered his arm back to rest at his side. ”In response to your question, I know very little; my lord. Sir Integra spoke of my hosting this party under you, and she mentioned that you had plans for… Excitement… But no details were given in your invitation. I do hope you’ll forgive my ignorance. If you would be so kind as to enlighten me, I shall be able to better prepare and decorate for this evening.” Perhaps this evening wouldn’t be quite as uneventful as he had expected. If that were the case, then he might actually be able to amuse himself; enjoy the entertainment of watching guests. Of course, that wouldn’t lessen his concern over Integra; but his master did have Alucard and Seras with her… She’d be fine. He needed to stop concerning himself over her; or it would be difficult to focus on tonight’s events. Sebastian clasped his hands neatly behind him, looking up at Nicodemus with a polite interest as he continued to breathe in the scent. He smiles, gauging his reaction to the hand shake. Hesitant, but firm grip. Conscious of protocol. How intriguing. "The entertainment has yet to have been decided upon. But for tonights event, I'm thinking a masquerade." he says with a grin. His attire had already been selected, he was still debating over masks however, but he was feeling rather...energized by this event. It was a strange feeling to him, who'd been so detached for so long. Ever since the events in Moria, he'd become more and more detached from normalcy, it felt like a return to an earlier age. He felt so...young. "If you are familiar with the ritual of...I believe they call it "halloween," that is the type of feel that I wish for this evening. Something...dark, I think is the best way to describe it. I'm not familiar with the custom myself, but we have something similar from what I've learned. To the people of my world, it is akin to the solstice. A night of magic and mysticism, where all the dark and terrible things in the world are free to reign with impunity. For my world, it is a night full of terror, yet I believe it is something less...sinister to these people. Really a disappointment, but ah well." he says with a shrug and light sigh.
He motions for Sebastian to follow him, he leads him up the staircase to the side of the throne room and to the second floor, weaving between the various galleries of art and armour as he walks, continuing to speak of his plans. "The guest list will, hopefully, include some high profile individuals. I've invited her royal majesty Queen Lori to attend, as is only diplomatic. With her I believe shall come her guardian, Sparda I believe his name is. I know little of the demon save that he seems to be a powerful and influential figure here on Genesis. In addition to them, we'll have several users of the "Force," which I'm sure you're familiar with, as it was used in the fight against the demonic incursion of which you partook." he says offhandedly, leading him into a smaller chamber dominated by a table in the center with several chairs around it. On the table itself were the blueprints for the first two floors of the castle, no need for anyone to know the lay out higher up after all. "The floor plans for the first two floors, and the grounds surrounding this castle. It'll be faster for your to familiarize yourself with these than wandering around, perhaps ending somewhere you shouldn't. The grounds will need to be decorated appropriately in order to receive the guests as it shall be their first impression of their host. The dining halls shall also need to be arranged properly for the evening meal. Nothing genuine silver I'm afraid, I know not how some of these guests will react to it." he pauses, frowning in thought for a moment.
"I do not much use them myself, so they shall probably need to be cleaned properly as well. I usually dine at restaurants while I'm out, so my kitchen staff is usually a little lax, especially given the rarity with which I receive guests. I do believe I have gold or crystal ware somewhere though. I suppose those shall do unless you can find a better solution. It has been awhile since I've thrown a stately affair, so many of these things I shall leave to your judgement." he says, waving his hand dismissively. He returns to the maps on the table, indicating additional areas for Sebastians attention. "The ballroom of course will need the most attention as I anticipate much of the events happening here. As well as the grounds around the terrace outside of it. Pavilions should be raised as well for those that wish to refresh themselves in the evening air, with food, refreshments and additional music outside." he elaborates, indicating further areas on the first floor. He pauses an additional moment before sending a question his way. "Tell me, which do you think would be better. An additional music group outside on the grounds as well as the ballroom, or an enchantment that lets the music carry over the entire area? It would make things less complicated I'm sure, but again, it has been awhile since I've preformed these sort of functions, I can't quite recall what was expected of the host." he says with a frown. "Hmm. In any case, I believe that does it for the first floor. For the second, as you've seen, it is mostly galleries and museums. The arms and armor shall need to be polished, the tapestries and art works cleaned and dusted, carefully mind you. If at all possible, I want you to take care of those. They are much more fragile, and I shall have the heads of anyone that damages them." he says cooly, raising his glance to Sebastian, making it clear he included the butler in that statement. He'd hate to return Hellsing a headless butler, but he did not take any slight to his person, however small, without retribution. "I shall also supply funds for you to procure additional items as needed for the event, and to add to my collection. Hallowton and Hellsing should be represented here as well I think, certainly if the queen herself deigns to come. Tables where guests can take their rest should be set up as well, one with the Hellsing coat of arms and another for the Queen. We shall have them on a raised dais overlooking the ballroom and a separate table in the dining hall. Despite this being my castle, it is my desire that the queen have the highest place of honor here, arrange it appropriately." he says, thinking back on everything he'd relayed.
He studies the maps for an additional moment, trying to determine if he'd left anything out. Years in solitude were not conducive to his mental state unfortunately, and he couldn't see anything, yet he knew there were additional details that would need to be taken care of. "Any questions Sebastian? I shall make myself available for consultation should he need me during the day, though I shall be indisposed for an hour or so later as I prepare myself for the event. Let's see, what else? Hmm. Ah yes, in the first floor of the underground you shall find the kitchens, store rooms and anything else you might need. Down there as well is a small chamber like this weapon. There is a portal there that will bring you to my plane of existence should you need me. I'll be stepping out for lunch as usual, and that will bring you to the country known as Cephalia. It's a massive market like area, where you can find anything from across the planes of existence. If you need to go shopping, it can be done there and they'll have things more native to my world if you decide to use them for decorations, though I think the style is mostly similar to Genesis. You can put the purchases under my name if you decide to buy anything, and indeed I insist you do to repay Sir Integra for loaning me you at the very least, or you may browse and return to me with a list for my review first. If you see anything that will be of use to Hellsing, note it and bring it to my attention and I shall make a gift of it to Sir Integra." he finishes, straightening and clasping his hands behind his back, returning his gaze to the butler. "I've hired staff for the event here and they shall be under your direction. They've not served me before, so I do not know what they expect, nor how proficient they are. Unfortunately my servants are usually of the undead or demonic nature, so dealing with living staff vexes me. If there is nothing further, I leave the matter in your hands Sebastian." he says, waiting to see if any questions were forthcoming.

The butler remained mute throughout the entire speech and movement to where the blueprints were. Nicodemus sure liked to talk a lot. As the words continued to come, he was already making a mental list; listening with rapt attention to every single word. Halloween? Yes, of course he knew of it. And this wouldn’t be the first time he’d needed to prepare a party for the holiday. He’d set up a castle much larger than this to accommodate the festivities only a few masters before the Phantomhive boy. A masquerade theme… And still Halloween-like… Yes, he had some plans already. As his mind wandered to brainstorm, he still held on to every word spoken by Nicodemus and locked them away for future reference. The man certainly knew how to put his temporary butler to work. Amusing really; what a strange human… Not to mention the sense of power which flowed from him. He could do things normal humans couldn’t, much like Integra could do unique things. Such power was tantalizing to him, but he was already contracted. So the frenzy would not come, it would be replaced by his being vexed by such matters. As for Halloween… He quite honestly found it to be a rather insulting holiday evening. Sure, he was all for a night filled with horror… But humans did not understand the true meaning of fear. They thought that having battery powered reaper ghosts hanging from trees to be frightening, more so when they made noise. Spider webs, fake ones at that, cast all about their lands? Nothing but a mess to be cleaned up later. Fake gravestones: merely mocking Death itself. Zombies and undead? Utterly revolting… Dressing up as the very creatures they believed to be frightening, but were too narrow-minded to understand the said beings actually existed. Particularly demons, a more vengeful form of hell-spawn… Humans would trapeze around with horns and bat wings, pretend to be devils, put on dark cloaks and fangs… Their interpretations of demons were far from accurate. He, as a demon, found it un-amusing; as did the majority of demons. It was thanks to such things that horrible “accidents” tended to happen on Halloween evening; demons with their bruised egos would find ways to make the humans suffer for such tactless attitudes. The same applied for ghosts, vampires, werewolves, and many other creatures who the humans mocked with their little holiday. Halloween was like discrimination to hell-spawn; as if they could be copied by mere mortals… Sebastian held back a sigh of discontent. He would have to decorate the place up for the very evening he despised, the evening which served as a direct stab at a demon’s pride and very being. Unintentional of course, humans being ignorant bastards in most cases… But still… Completely humiliating… Well, he would put forth all effort to provide a very Halloween-like evening in any case, that was his duty for the moment. Now in the room with the blueprints, he simply nodded in acknowledgement of the important guests to attend. Of course the Queen and her guard would want to attend… A Random castle appearing on the edge of their city was naturally a cause for concern and suspicion. He figured Integra had been thinking along those lines, and that thought was what lightened his mood. No, Integra hadn’t placed him here simply to provide a party… It was to also keep a close eye on the party host; to make sure he wasn’t an enemy or distraction from a real attack. He would have to stick close to the Queen if he could, should she show up. This could very well simply be an assassination attempt. He mentally rebuked himself for not realizing the core of this assignment sooner. The demon continued to listen quietly as Nicodemus rattled off his plans and expectations; he obviously wanted this to be an impressive party. Wandering around and ending up somewhere he shouldn’t? The man seemed to be under the impression that whatever secrets which rested in his castle would prove troublesome for him to handle… That made the corners of his lips twitch upward into a smirk. He would keep to the assigned floors, but he knew it would have been no trouble to move through upper floors for him. Grounds and dining hall decor… No problem. He would find dining utensils that weren’t silver with ease; he could always make them if need be. Kitchen staff and cooking… He opened his mouth to say something, and then closed it as it became apparent that the man wasn’t done speaking yet. So he merely dipped his head and held his tongue. The ballroom would of course be important; he had suspected that much upon first laying eyes upon the floor plan. And on the list went. He was asked his opinion, but given no chance to answer as Nicodemus plowed on. That was a bit rude in his eyes, but there was nothing to be done about it. The human moved on to speak of the galleries and museums, stressing that the armor was to not be harmed. Again, the butler chuckled quietly under his breath. Once again, the man was displaying an immense amount of arrogance. That was obviously a veiled threat to the one who would be setting up his party; one who would not be easily harmed if he happened to ding the metal. But of course, he would never have left even a fingerprint on the armor. All the same… He was highly bemused by the open display on the human’s part that he could get revenge on a demon. He probably had his ways to harm the unholy creatures; but he was Sebastian Michaelis… Not one who could be taken down by a human and his play-things. Nicodemus hadn’t the faintest idea what he was dealing with here; apart from the demon bit, perhaps. And on the monologue went. Funds, good; not that he needed them. He preferred to hand craft his décor, anyway. A raised table for the Queen and Hellsing… He’d already been planning to do that as well. At long last, it seemed Nicodemus was finishing with the laying out of his expectations. There was a portal downstairs…? To some other world in a way? Fascinating. As Nicodemus wrapped up, Sebastian inclined his head once more. ”I have no questions, Lord Archleon. You’ve made yourself inescapably clear. I prefer to be consistent with creating my own décor from scratch; but if you insist on repaying Sir Integra through such means, I shall oblige. However, I assure you that my master has no wish for repayment. She’s been rather eager to give me a day off from my duties; she insists that one as efficient as me needs a break. It is likely she will thank you for providing an excuse to send me away if she attends the party.” He pulled the watch from his pocket and pressed the button to flip it open, looking down on it with narrowed eyes. ”I will train the staff to be on duty later today. Those who work in the kitchen will be relieved of duties; I will take on all cooking matters. They need only be trained to serve and restock food from the kitchens, as well as clean; so it won’t take long to pass on such knowledge. As for the music, I believe different music outside than inside will prove more desirable to guests. Decorations and preparations will not take long. It is 6:34 now… Your entire castle and grounds shall be presentable and ready to host this party at exactly 7:30am. I shall then train some servants, and move on to perform final checks of the castle itself. You said in your invitation that the party would begin at 7pm, I will be confining myself to the kitchens at 5:30.” Sebastian closed the watch and tucked it back into his pocket, before bowing again to Nicodemus. ”Please excuse me, I must begin.” Then he turned and swept out of the main audience room. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As 7:25 struck, the butler would be seen strolling through the grounds of the castle and re-entering the castle; both of which were now unrecognizable. He had gone to great lengths to decorate as the humans’ desired their outdoor Halloween to be pictured; complete with the spider webs and gravestones. There were fake wraiths seemingly suspended in midair; live bats would be fluttering about later in the evening. For the safety of the guests, and his own preference, he had refrained from bringing in live spiders. There were the pumpkins which had not-so-friendly faces carved into them, candles sheltered within to bit lit as night fell. As Nicodemus had requested that he send some of the money, he had purchased fog machines and hidden them at equal intervals along the grounds; to cast that eerie feeling over the scene. Those were all only a portion of what had been done. In general; the outer grounds would be quite frightening as the sun went down. He had decorated the pavilions on the grounds as well; and they would be tended to by the servants. These decorations were not quite so formal as they would be indoors, it was more of a relaxed; not so manner-important dining area for those who disliked the professionalism and courtesies of dining in the presence of the Queen of Hallowton herself. He had taken a more party-like effect indoors. The hallways would all have fancy chairs and benches ; along with tables which carried refreshments for those who needed them: Along with yet another Halloween-centered decoration set: Even the museums on the floor above had been decorated for the occasion. He had taken great care when handling the armor, as requested. The grande ballroom had been well tended to. There were long and round tables set up away from the dance floor; each with crisp and clean white tablecloths. Every place to seat a guest was already professionally set at each table as well. They would be loaded down with food as the evening approached. A wide variety of fall décor had already been laid out as well; flowers and fruits of the season. He had chosen to make it more formal and less frightening in there; as it was a place for enjoyment. There were many tables set up along walls which would offer a wide variety of food and drink for all. At the far north side of the ballroom; he had prepared a bar with a more haunted appearance. The lights of the ballroom would steadily dim toward the bar itself; until any guests going to get a drink would be among the eerie atmosphere. The closer they were to the bar, The more unwelcome the said bar would appear. Honestly, it was really just a matter of amusement. He had decorated in such a way not to dissuade going to the bar rather that request drinks form passing servants, but he was curious just how many would be willing enough to approach. Of course, they would be in no danger, but the point of Halloween was to be frightened, wasn’t it? He had built a raised dais by hand, adding intricate designs and carvings into the highly polished wood which be supporting the distinguished guests. The dais had been set up at the side of the dance floor; directly opposite from the more civilian seating. There were two tables set on the raised platform, set with even more formality that the others in the room. One of the tables bore the Hellsing coat of arms on the center of the tablecloth, as well as on the side which hung over the edge of the table facing the dance floor. The other table was similarly decorated, only with the Royalty coat of arms. The table meant for the queen was raised slightly above Hellsing’s table as well. Queen Lori and her guards would have a wonderful view of the ballroom; and he would make certain to be their personal waiter, butler really. Sebastian was within the ballroom, doing a final sweep to rid the place of any dust or unwelcome pests. The floors all over the castle were clean; every single article in the above museums and display cases had been handled and dusted with the care of an expert, all the suits if armor had been polished to the point of being able to serve as mirrors. The kitchens were well stocked and ready to be utilized; he was already planning out certain recipes. Every room which would be open to the guests had been cleared and made presentable. He would be assigning a pair or trio of servants to certain areas of the castle, to make certain every guest would be provided no matter where they were. Music would be covered both outdoors and indoors, outdoors playing more haunted themes while indoors would offer more of a variety intended for a masquerade ball. The butler set a final menu upon the Queen’s table, and then drew out his pocket watch again. Exactly 7:30… Perfect. "I think this will do just fine..." He murmured to himself, though a very real growl rumbled in his throat. "Much as I hate this insulting 'Halloween' occasion..." He cast a quick glance at a window, glaring out into the decorated grounds; obviously displeased that he'd set it all up. He walked over to the window, and gently slid the cover over it to hide the horrid view of outside; though that gentleness was forced. He doubted Nicodemus would take kindly to broken windows; more exposure to the grounds. He would take a round through the room; making sure every window was covered and the sliding shutters were locked. Now then, if Nicodemus didn’t come in himself to inspect the décor, he would go find the man himself. It was time to meet these servants of his, and to start their training. Nicodemus smiled in amusement at the butlers declaration to have it all prepared within an hour, somehow not doubting Sebastian in the least. The confidence with which he delivered such a claim made him hard to not believe, part of the danger of dealing with a demon. And he could see a vague hint of amusement on the demons face, as the thought of prowling the upper floors or reprimands from damaging anything were nothing to him. Many had thought similar. Their skeletons resided within the dungeons still, their souls bound to them for an eternity in solitude. But he had no reason to press the issue, he knew Sebastian would follow the orders without question. And if he didn't, well. He'd certainly find much more than he had bargained for. He'd made certain after receiving a visit from one of the nine titans alongside an angelic army that his home was more than capable of dealing with any level threat, especially those of demonic origins amongst which he had the most enemies. "Very well then, one hour it is. I look forward to seeing your preparations." he says dismissively, turning to stride deeper into his palace, leaving Sebastian free to work. He merely retrieved a cloak of midnight black on his way out, stepping through and into the streets of Cephalia as he sought his breakfast.
It was an uneventful meal and shopping period as he made a few extra purchases, things he'd need for the party and personal interests. He returns to his castle expecting nothing out of the ordinary, and was pleasantly surprised by the changes that had been made in such a short time. He drops his purchases off in his room, stowing the items away with meticulous care, returning his cloak to it's hanging post in his wardrobe before descending to tour the grounds. He eyed the drastic changes with the looks of vague disgust, as well as being impressed. Sebastian certainly lived up to his reputation. He drew on a white glove as he went, casually trailing a finger across surfaces to check for dust as he eyed the decorations critically, noting all the changes. It certainly didn't resemble his castle anymore, now it seemed like some cheesy haunted mansion. How distasteful. It reminded him of the pretenders to power and the dark arts that thought these things were what it meant to be a powerful dark practitioner. Gaudy and tasteless. He ignores the taste of bile in his mouth as he continues walking the grounds, forcing his pride down and into a dark little corner in his mind filled with all the other useless emotions and thoughts that could very easily lead to his death, instead looking at it all with a detached interest. His concern was not for his agreeance with the decorations, but rather his guest's enjoyment and entertainment. He couldn't let his personal feelings cloud his judgement at what he expected to be an important event, he needed to be concerned with his guests more than anything. He sighed lightly as he slipped the glove away, standing outside in the pavilion where the guests could enjoy the night air. He glared suspiciously at the little machines Sebastian had placed around, having no idea what there functions was, nor what they were there for. Once again, he found himself lamenting his lack of familiarity with technology, resolving once more to fix that discrepancy, especially now in a world where technology seemed much more widespread than his own.
He pauses as he notes Sebastian inside the ballroom, drawing the curtains over the windows, closing the distance as he gathered his thoughts. He turns his gaze out on the grounds before speaking, knowing Sebastian would want his thoughts. "I'm moderately impressed, I half doubted if even one of your reputation could make good on such a claim as having everything ready within an hour." he says, nodding approvingly. "You've done extremely well, and exceeded my expectations. Hopefully this will be sufficient for the sheep." he says, slightly cross. He couldn't really help himself, and he knew it was through no fault of their own, it was just how they were raised. A world where true terror was something to be mocked or laughed off. Half these people had no idea of the things that went bump in the night, things from the darkest nightmares that would shatter their sanity just by being seen. Or certainly some of them might understand, especially given some of the events that had occured here, but the rest...mindless sheep, ignorant of their true peril. He sighs, brushing away the emotions, turning his attention back to Sebastian. "You're a demon, tell me, how do you feel about this 'Halloween?' I personally find it distasteful, the mindless masses have no idea of what true fear is, nor the danger they court in mocking entities beyond their comprehension. I find this whole thing to be a ridiculous farce to be perfectly honest, yet I suppose I must be diplomatic in my approach. Were it up to me, I'd have a night of true terror, not this ridiculous hanging.." he pauses to blink at the ghoul hanging in the yard. "What in the nine bloody hells...oh forget it." he says, shaking his head, tasering his rising ire. He could already feel the headache forming behind his eyes, and he pinched the bridge of his nose, inhaling slowly and deeply to calm himself. "I feel a mild aneurism coming on. Are these the kind of things they really enjoy? Gods above I feel old." he mutters.
"Oh to hell with it. It's what's expected, and I don't want to disappoint my guests, whatever my own misgivings. I plan on burning each and every decoration after this in the deepest pits of hell." he grumbles, well aware of how petulant he sounded, only serving to increase his vexation. He forces himself to remain calm and not reduce everything to fine particles of dust as he directs another question Sebastians way. "Also, what are those little box things you've hidden around here? I am unfamiliar with technology and do not recognize them." he says, trying to distract himself. Perhaps he'd take the opportunity to learn more of the demon he'd requested for the party, gods above knew it'd be engaging enough to keep him sufficiently distracted from the decor outside. He had a much greater fondness for the indoors decor by and far, much more fitting to his sensibilities. Less...fake. Anything at all to not look at the destruction that had been wreaked upon his once peaceful and soothing grounds.

How amusing... The moment he had started to consider going to look for Nicodemus, he heard the footsteps approaching the ballroom and the very man entered. The instant he caught sight of the man's face, his own crimson gaze narrowed in concern. Had he made an error? He couldn't see how, Nicodemus had given him free reign of the decor and other preparations. The man had no right to be angry when he hadn't laid out explanations of what he didn't want done around his castle. But no... It would soon be made clear that he wasn't displeased by the butler's efforts; merely decor required of the occasion was distasteful. However... Nicodemus was human... Yet here he was... Referring to his guests, who would mostly be human as well, as sheep. The demon raised his eye brows at the choice of wording. That was a rather unlikable attitude, it spoke of a very deep arrogance which he had already suspected of the man. A human didn't normally go around calling his or her own species such a thing, as they would be referring to themselves as the same thing. How laughable... Nicodemus was saying that he too was one of these 'sheep' whom he didn't seem all too fond of. But of course, none of those thoughts showed; he hid such opinions well. The face was a mask, crimson gaze unwavering as he listened to Nicodemus. At least he was pleased with the speed and efficiency, and was able to bring himself to express that he was impressed. That in itself improved the demon's view of the man. But his opinion of the man would further be improved as he spoke of his dislike toward the Halloween holiday. He hadn't expected any human to practically take the event as a personal insult. "I share your views, Lord Archleon." He responded without much emotion when asked his own thoughts on the matter. "I am not fond of Halloween. To be quite frank, I rather detest the occasion. As you said, I am a demon after all. Such mocking of my kind is a direct stab at my pride; a risky move with any demon. You are human, you will not understand entirely how deep the hatred runs. However, I can tell you that such defacing of us leads to some... Unpleasant accidents... Which normally end up with a human learning exactly what true fear is." There was a rather sadistic trace in the smirk he offered then, fangs noticeable against his pearly white teeth. "I do not lie. I am also guilty of such actions, I do love to watch humans run about in utter terror of the suffering demons bring them. There is a certain satisfaction which comes from knowing I caused some of that suffering myself. It is always more pleasing when my own hand is involved." He chuckled under his breath, an odd gleam shining in the infinite red of his gaze. As Nicodemus held his nose, Sebastian blinked again. So he was feeling a bit ill? Decor did that to him? Perhaps he was weaker than he appeared... An interesting though. "Not everyone enjoys this sort of thing, but it is a tradition among the Halloween Day, much to my own discontent..." He paused for a moment, then added "If you are not feeling well, then perhaps you should go lay down for a bit? If you would be so kind as to summon your supposed servants, I can begin their training while you rest and prepare for this evening..." Humans were so weak... Nicodemus asked yet another question, the demon couldn't help but crack a slight smile at that one. "They are a machine simply referred to as 'fog makers' by most simple-minded humans. When evening falls, I will activate them to cast an artificial fog over your grounds; to add to the suspense of your little haunted castle. I would of course, be more than willing to cast true fog... However, I'm afraid such a thing of my own creation would likely result in your guests dropping like flies due to toxins. So artificial fog seemed the better route to take." He chuckled quietly at that. He chuckles as he listens to Sebastians thoughts on the subject, his mood moderately improved by his response. "I find myself agreeing with you. I myself have partaken in the causing of fear, it's rather...entertaining, I suppose." he says, flashing a quick, boyish grin at Sebastian. "It's useful to remind people that I haven't yet faded into oblivion, and that despite their mockery of beings such as I, that they do it at their own peril. But alas, we must fulfill the expectations of the the guests." he says with a shrug. He gazes around the ballroom viewing the arrangements that had been made. So far, he found the indoors to be much more to his taste, and planned on spending the majority of the evening within the castle itself. It would be less taxing on him mentally, at the very least. He was already trying to figure out what to do for music and that seemed to be the last of the plans that needed to be taken care of before he could retire for the day, in order to rest up for the social warfare that was surely to come this evening. He could only hope that it would be a simple and pleasant affair, yet he found it best to be prepared for whatever that might come.
He turns his attention back to Sebastian as he makes a comment on his health, "Hmm? Ill? No no, I'm fine. Just maintaining my calm. I find this whole thing distasteful. Not to mention the grounds of my castle are filled with a terrible faux pas. It's a gesture humans sometimes do in order to help calm themselves. For me, it's to keep from reducing everything around me to fine dust and ash, as well as to ignore the headache I feel building up." he says, waving a hand dismissively. "I'll be fine as soon as this is over. I find social events to be rather taxing, not to mention the expectations that go with them. It makes me long for the simplicity of fending off hordes of monsters, demons, angels, elder gods or whatever nasty little thing that decides to try and make a meal of me." he says with a shrug. He listens as he explains the functions of the little machines, frowning lightly at them. "I can raise a fog quite easily. I'd prefer that over those little boxes. I do not trust them. In my experience, things with but one known function seem to usually have more. Explosives, recording devices, that sort of thing. I do not enjoy having something detonate next to me." he pauses for a moment. "...Again. I'll gather those up and cheerfully smash them. Or sell them back on my world. I might be able to make some good money off those." he pauses for additional thought. "Well, I can sell one. Smash the rest." he says, laughing lightly. He didn't have any reason to not keep increasing his own wealth. He'd plundered an entire world of gold already that a rival of his had ruled, and that had set him for life. But there was no reason not to add to it. Besides, smashing the rest of them was going to vastly help him relieve his stress. "I mean no slight to you Sebastian, but I prefer things I can understand. Gives me one less thing to worry about, and smashing things makes me feel young again." he says with another boyish grin.
He moves the fingers of his left hand through a quick little dance, summoning forth small creations of his that prowled usually unseen through his castle. They were small little constructs, quadrupedal that could go to bipedal when the need struck them. They mostly appeared as a small, circular disc that would move across the floor, black as night so they were rarely seen, though moving across the grounds, Sebastian would see that the colours on them shifted to help them blend into the area. He preferred his constructs to not be seen after all. When they shifted to bipedal form, it took four of them to move each fog machine, from the front, they appeared as normal humans with massive discs on their backs. Each one had different features, showing that they were modeled after someone at sometime. "Disregard those. They are my personal creations that I use when I don't want the stench of sulfur, brimstone, or rotting corpse around me. For tonight though, I've hired human staff for you to take command of." he says, moving to stride back into the castle, he beckons for Sebastian to follow him, talking as they went. "I've hired the best that I could find, and the most well trained. Of course, they are hardly as capable as yourself." he says with a smile. "But this way it'll be easier for you to handle, and then you aren't training some new servants without me gaining anything off of it. I've billed them regardless for it, in case you do manage to teach them something." he explains with a light chuckle. He sends out a gentle surge of magic, one that would contact the servants and have them gather for instruction. He presses a stone in the wall that slid aside a section to reveal a passageway leading down to the lower levels. "Come along. I'll give you an additional map that shows you the other passageways for the first and second floor so you can move about quicker. Just be discreet about them, I'd rather no one else know my secret ways. It's a rather fun hobby of mine to appear as if out of thin air when guests are over. Not to mention it gives me an excellent means to gather information. It's amazing what people will say when they think they are alone." he says, leading Sebastian down into the sub levels.
A few twists and turns, he opened the passageway back into a stone corridor, well lit by torchlight, leading him into the servants audience chamber, where the hired help was amassed and waiting. Good morning staff. I am your employer for the next few days. The man with me shall be the one you report to and are in service under. You are to serve him as best and capably as you would myself. If you do not, don't expect your payments, or bonuses." He says to them, casting his gaze over them all. More than a few refused to meet his gaze, as the men and women of his world were more than familiar with the legend of the Necromancer King. Not one of them would dare to cross them, they enjoyed living their comfortable lives after all. "Sebastian, I leave them in your care." he says, before another gentle surge of magic coalesced into a swirling, silvery orb in his hand. He held it out for the butler. "Here, this is my knowledge of the first two floors. You will know them as intimately as I. If you need anything else, I shall be in Cephalia for my lunch, then in my chambers on the second floor so you have access to me. Try not to interrupt unless it's important. I've a particularly enjoyable book I've been trying to finish." he says, waiting to see if Sebastian needed anything else. If he chose to take the orb, the knowledge would infuse itself into Sebastian, becoming as if it were his own memories, so there was a far less chance of it falling into the hands of anyone else. "And Sebastian, I would appreciate you keeping this knowledge to yourself. I can understand you being ordered to report it should Sir Integra ask it of you, but otherwise, do be so kind as to keep my secrets. I don't need more people crawling about randomly in my castle." he says lightly, somehow not doubting that Sebastian wouldn't reveal anything.

Sebastian raised his eyebrows at the words spoken. He didn’t like machinery as simple as fog machines? It was amusing really, that this human who acted like he wasn’t a human could display such weakness. The demon wasn’t quite sure what to think of this man, he was constantly exposing more strange personality quirks and habits. It was obvious he held extensive power, but no matter what… He was still human… So how was it that he could bring up a natural fog? Was he one to tamper with magic and sorcery? The butler watched without much interest as the strange little things rose up, seemingly out of the ground itself, and moved into the grounds to remove the machines. So be honest, the removal of more fake fear-instilling things lightened his own mood. Anything to make these “Halloween” decorations fewer in number would be pleasing to him. Nicodemus went on to explain that he had hired human servants, and the butler inclined his head in acceptance. ”Yes, I thank you. It is quite a pain to train humans who have no trace of experience and make them into proper servants within a few hours.”He turned follow close behind Nicodemus further into the castle, not surprised in the slightest by the secret passageway. Castles such as this tended to have quite a few such passages, hallways hidden by faux walls or behind impressive canvas paintings; sometimes beneath a trap door disguised as floor. He made no attempt at conversation, it wasn’t proper to converse with a superior unless granted permission by being asked. The man had made no inquiry of him just yet, and so he would simply keep his mouth shut. At the man’s request for secrecy however, the butler dipped his head in acknowledgement. ”My master has no interest in the secrets of your castle…” He said in a silky voice, his usual tone. ”If she did, she would have sent me here to spy and scout about, rather than serve and run your party smoothly. I will speak nothing of your secrets, Lord Archleon.” He trailed after the man until they reached the end of the hallway, and stepped into the room at Nicodemus’ shoulder; the crimson gaze passing over the servants who had gathered. The moment they had entered, all murmured conversation ceased, and he could feel the eyes of every single living being in the room, excluding Nicodemus, locked on him. The way the servants were staring at him, he assumed they weren’t quite sure what to make of him. They had never seen or met him before, they knew nothing of the one placed in charge of them. For all they knew, he could be some strict bastard who reveled in their suffering from attempts to carry out impossible tasks. Well, that wasn’t too far from what he would be, so he could give them credit for that. But their confusion and uncertainty about him would be deepened by what they saw standing before them. Humans were so easily deceived by what they saw… These men and woman saw a well-dressed butler, one who stood straight-backed and proud, and one who was confident in his abilities. Not to mention the strange sense of fear and respect they would feel toward him as he approached. That inexplicable sense of being in the presence of something greater than them, something they couldn’t understand; despite his obviously human appearance. They didn’t know who or what they were dealing with… That made him smile in bemusement. His attention would be drawn back to Nicodemus as the man spoke again, and brought forth a glittering silvery orb. Sebastian blinked for a moment, surprised that the man would be so willing to extend knowledge such as that to a servant he had only just met, a servant he had little knowledge of apart from the estate on which he served. But he extended a gloved to accept it, and found that it felt pleasant warm in his hands before seeming to melt in his grip. ”I am honored, Lord Archleon. Your knowledge will prove useful in facilitating what is to be done this evening. I assure you, you will not be disturbed. I shall bring some tea to your chambers later.” He would bow to the man as he took his leave, and the other servants in the chamber hastily followed his example. Once they were no longer in Nicodemus’ presence, Sebastian turned back to face them all. Most were looking rather indignant at being put under his charge. A few even seemed to be planning to be rebellious. Well, that wouldn’t persist long; he made careful mental notes of potential troublemakers. But along with the bad, there were also good. Some of the servants were actually looking quite excited, and even admiration gleam in a few eyes which locked with his own piercing crimson gaze. ”Now then…” He began in a pleasant voice as he stepped toward the uneven and messy line of humans. ”We shall begin, as our time is limited.”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was approaching 4:00pm by the time he had finished with the training and assessment of the humans. But while the invested time had been taking a toll on his limited patience, the results were passable. The servants had gone from uncertain, disorganized, and rebellious to being confident, perfection-obsessed, and respectful. Even those whom had not been happy at all this morning at suddenly being given a superior servant had been humbled. After spending hours under his training, in which had had performed quite a few demonstrations of proper service and attitude, it had become impossible for any of them to disrespect him; they didn’t want to. They feared and admired him, respected and made efforts to follow his every example. He now had a well-trained team of human servants which were like him in every way possible. Of course, as he wasn’t human and had much more experience in servitude, he still outshone them; by a landslide really. But that was only to be expected. By now, they knew full well he wasn’t human at all, but they couldn’t work up the guts to ask him about it; not that he would have answered anyway. But one thing was certain… This party’s guests would be well cared for and tended to with the highest quality service. Any misbehavior on a servant’s part wouldn’t be tolerated, and the perpetrator would answer to him if they caused trouble. The humans all knew that, and they also knew that they didn’t want to be standing before their charge in the case of problems. Sebastian’s gaze passed over the line of waiters and waitresses, each one dressed in a neat suit or dress depending on their gender. They looked professional at last, standing in a flawlessly straight line across the very center of this chamber. He had his own white-gloved hands clasped behind his back as he studied them one final time. ”You’ve done well so far, all of you. I expect to see this party run at the peak of quality. If there are any problems you can’t handle, come to me. I will be carrying out my own duties, but it shouldn’t be hard to locate me should you require assistance that your fellow servants can’t provide. At exactly 5:30, I want you all at your stations, guests will begin arrive at 6:00 and after. I’ve briefed you on everything which needs to be seen to prior to the party. Go now and carry out final checks and confirmations. You are dismissed.” With those words, he would offer a final pleasant smile at the return bows to his words, then turned and moved toward one of the smaller kitchens. He had already brewed tea, and it was ready to be served. Within a few seconds, he was making his way out of the kitchen with a silver platter balanced expertly on his fingertips; carrying a teacup and a steaming silver pitcher, along with a bowl of sugar and another small pitcher of milk. The servants were starting to run around to make final preparations, and those he passed cast more admiring looks in his direction. The hallway on which Nicodemus had his chambers located was deserted; Sebastian had instructed the servants to avoid this hall. He reached up to knock lightly on the door into the main room with the back of his knuckles. ”Lord Achleon, I have brought you some tea .” He called gently, and then waited for permission to enter.
