Integra hadn't been herself lately(literally). Her actions in leading Hellsing had brought a lot of attention to the order and personally to herself. While the vampire clans had gone dark and hadn't attacked since Alucard and Sebastian both wiped out the forces that had attacked nearly two months ago, one could still hear the whispers of the war if they listened hard enough. The echo's of the underworld told a tale of the Nosferatu clans being wiped out and the Giovanni rising steadily.
The stability of the underworld was waning as much as the world around her. Today Integra had gotten up earlier than usual to avoid Sebastians usual schedule. Something didn't feel right with today, she made her way to the kitchen, it was three in the morning and she knew she would most likely be running into her butler there. Of course she had already dressed and done her usual morning routine such as brushing her hair and teeth.
She made way down the stairs from the second level with the glint of light within the darkness made her reflexes kick in instantly. There was a brief moment where she stumbled down the stairs as she avoided an object thrown directly in her direction. When she looked to the darkness there was nothing to be had, she looked at the stair and noticed the metal wire dug deep within the oak finish.
It was obvious now that someone wanted her dead. What ever just tried to assassinate her had done so well as to almost kill her it had baffled every inch of her mind. How had anyone entered the mansion undetected and avoided the senses of Sebastian and Alucard? It was either the assassin was that skilled or had something that blocked the senses of all around them.
"Sebastian," she said in a very low voice using the power of the seal itself to call upon her demon butler.

It was a rather quiet night... Too quiet really... There was an eerie sense of foreboding which had settled around his consciousnesses. Something just didn't feel right... He was outside, doing his usual nighttime patrol around the estate and a mile out beyond the borders; making sure everything was normal and that no more unwelcome visitors would come by. He had done his rounds, and was making his way back to the manor; touched to silver under the moonlight. The crimson eyes gleamed within the darkness, alert and aware... But then... He felt it; the lash of burning pain from his hand which meant only one thing... His master was in danger. He would flash into his blurred speed and enter the manor within a second, just as he felt her summons ring in his head. He was standing at her shoulder before she'd even finished saying his name. A very real, almost feral snarl ripped from his throat, as his cold glare fixed on the piece of wire. Someone had the gall to sneak in while he had been out... Some bastard had slipped through his circling defense of the the estate, and even now... He could neither sense nor smell anything out of the ordinary... Who had been here? Why couldn't he pick up a sense of presence? Right then, he was closer to a demon than a butler; he wanted nothing more than to rip apart whoever had committed this move, more mess would have made it more enjoyable. And still, his breath hissed through clenched teeth as he took in great amounts of air. He didn't need oxygen, but the feeling of it slipping through his body was enough to provide some calm; to steady his violently trembling figure as he fought against the urge to take to his true form. It would do no good now to shift. If he couldn't sense the assassin now, he wouldn't sense them as a demon either. Sebastian leaned over to take hold of the short wire between a gloved thumb and forefinger, and pulled it from the stairs in a single smooth motion. He straightened up, and suspiciously sniffed it. Nothing but wire... Apart from the rather sharp end, it didn't really look like anything dangerous... But how deep it had gone into the stairs allowed him to calculate exactly how fast it hand been thrown, and the direction from which it came wasn't a problem to discover either. His other hand rose to take hold of the other end of the wire, gingerly touching the razor sharp tip and looking disgruntled. In the silence, a loud snap would be heard as he pulled on both sides of the wire. There was no bending or twisting involved, it was simply... Severed neatly in half with that sound ringing in the quiet. The two halves would be placed in a pocket, he figured he might find use for them later. He would have to apologize later as well for allowing this killer to give him the slip, and proceed to deliver punishment upon himself in some way; as he had been told to do so upon sealing the contract with Integra. But for now... His priority was to keep her alive. "Sebastian, I want you to find out what you can about this assassination attempt," Integra said. She was extremely unaware of the situation the unholy beings of her house were currently in as they couldn't sense or feel what ever it was that had thrown the wire at her but she was hoping that Sebastian had an idea on anything at all with this. She straightened her coat, it was a rough morning already and she hadn't even had her tea yet.
Meanwhile, the shadows within the mansion flickered uneasily each and every inch within the walls of the mansion itched with something moving within it, what ever it was was doing a fine job keeping itself on the down low but it was giving off clues such as moving some of the shadows out of place to their light source and removing entire sections of light even though the light was clearly and brightly turned on. The enigma continued through the entire mansion until the lights began to flicker, "Vampires, demons, zombies, and super soldiers... Now poltergeists, great."
Integra raised her hand to Sebastian, "Cigar."

Sebastian bowed his head to her again, as usual when answering to an order. "Yes, my lord..." He looked up at the walls, the shifting shadows giving him an even greater sense of foreboding. He had no idea what was going on here; he couldn't smell or otherwise sense a presence, and it made him feel half-blind... He hated it. How exactly could he find out more of what was going on without any form of lead? The piercing gaze followed every shadow no matter how slight movement was. No, he wasn't frightened or unnerved, but irritable. Someone, or something, was here to kill Integra... And no way would he leave her side to inspect what was going on. Obviously, he couldn't leave Integra alone for even a short moment; she'd just get attacked again. The demon moved closer to her side; constantly shifting so that he was always between her and the shifting shadows. The eyes would flicker to pink in an attempt to see something invisible, but to no immediate luck. Then he heard Integra's next words, and drew a cigar from a pocket in his tailcoat. He would light it with match from the box he carried with him; and then held out the thing carefully to her by holding it just above the lit end with his thumb and forefinger, the glowing red tip pointing at himself so she could take it with ease. Then he would resume making sure to keep an eye on the shifting shadows; scrutinizing them, struggling to make out a shape. So... Integra though it was a poltergeist? Perhaps... Integra didn't seem too unnerved by it though, and he had calmed as well. At least their state of slight relaxation might make this event easier to handle and end.
