A World Unlike Her Own (OPEN)

Luna wandered around Hallowtown as she observed the architecture and the people going to and from. It was quite an interesting development at the moment, she had found herself at the entrance to this strange city after she had fallen into the portal, people said that she was sometimes too curious for her own good. But that never really stopped Luna from being an eccentric intellectual, in fact she was quite smart then most Ravenclaws, if a little bit too dreamy if the whispers were true, "Hmm...I wonder if there are any Crumple-Horned Snorkacks in this world? Maybe I'll find one and bring one home, that would be a very good present for Harry," Luna said to herself.

She had read a lot of books, naturally, and was quite surprised to find that the buildings looked like something from the past. Almost 19th Century if she had to believe, almost the same as many wizarding buildings all over Europe. If it wasn't for the strange clothing, and sky, Luna would have almost believed that she had somehow teleported to another place in Europe...however this predicament did not interest, or faze Luna the least as she simply hummed along while inspecting the various trinkets around while people took one glance at her before moving on, "I wonder if Harry and the others is here?" she mused to herself.

Roy walked through the medieval-seeming city, focused more on the candy bar he was eating than anything. It was delicious. How come he had taken DAYS to discover something as wonderful as food? Then something he heard in the babble of crowds caught his attention.

Crumple horned snorckacks? Some girl was talking to herself about a creature that appeared in Kaden's memories quite often. As sacrifices. Kaden drank the blood and ate the hearts of the creatures to gain power. Not that he would mention something like that to anyone. It was disgraceful, sacrificing animals to gain power.

Then again, most people he could remember weren't interested in the long way. But then again, he was distracted again and bumped right into the young lady who had mentioned it in the first place. He would steady her before she fell or anything, and apologize profusely. He really hadn't meant to bump her, and it was terrible of him to lose focus every few minutes and think about something else instead. Blah.

"Terribly sorry. Are you alright, miss?"

Luna had been so preoccupied with her surroundings that she was completely oblivious to the fact that someone was approaching her until they bumped into each other. She had been a little 'ditzy' as one person told her one day, but it was merely because she had a lot of things going on in her head and she rarely completely zone out.

Terribly sorry. Are you alright miss?

She looked to see a strange man wearing strange clothes, she had seen a lot of strange people especially when she visits Diagon Alley, but this man tops the list. Furthermore she became interested in his ears as they were long and pointy like an elf. But that couldn't be right? Elves went into hiding centuries ago, and even the Ministry of Magic didn't know where they were, although truth be told Luna wouldn't be surprised if they didn't know anything really. "That's alright, you probably had a Ditzy Elf on you," she said dreamily.

A ditzy elf? Weren't those things disproven on his world? No matter. She was probably from another world with similar superstitions and whatnot. It happened, there were quite a few worlds like his. Kaden had walked on many in the guise of a human after becoming a god.

"I heard someone talking about Crumple Horned Snorkacks earlier. Was that you?"

He personally thought they were rather majestic creatures, though he had never actually seen one with his own eyes. The reality was they were kind of like cows back on Sivelos, but he just loved animals. Animals, while some were vicious, weren't like people. People could end up like Kaden, given enough time and power. But he was about to use Kaden's memories to hopefully make a friend. He needed friends.

"I think those things are adorable, though they can be dangerous if they get mad. My...uh...father...owned a few."

That was true. While Kaden had sacrificed them, he had technically owned them. And Roy was technically his son.

I heard someone talking about Crumple Horned Snorkacks earlier. Was that you?

Luna nodded as she brushed her hair away from her eyes, "Yes that was me, me and my daddy believe in them, though they're quite hard to find in Europe. People say that daddy is mad, but I'm sure that they exist somewhere...we just need to find it in the right places, sometimes people tell daddy that they've seen them in some remote place...we even took vacations to go there. But so far there's been no sight of them," Luna replied.

I think those things are adorable, though they can be dangerous if they get mad. My...uh...father...owned a few

Luna's eyes widened, "Oh so you've actually owned one? I'm quite envious of you, I wish that I would have met one one day, do you still have them? I would very much like to see them," Luna said excitedly.

Europe? What plane was that on. Roy's mind raced as he thought through the vast memories of planeswalking....Sol? Planet Earth? That sounded about right. Though for some reason, Kaden had stuck to a place called Ireland. He had had a woman there.

But Roy wasn't about to mention what kind of person his father was.

"Unfortunately...there don't seem to be any in this world, and I have no idea how to get back to my own."

Of course, he wasn't sure what state his world was in. There had been a world shattering explosion when Cadelfwch pierced Kaden's heart. Roy had an idea, though. One of the things that had been thrust through the dimensional portal upon his creation was actually a book on raising them.

"Tell you what, I have the next best thing...it's even got pictures of them."

He reached into the pack on his back and rummaged around for a bit, until he felt the raised lettering of the book. He held it out for her.

"This is a book all about them. I've already read it cover to cover, so you can have it."

It wasn't a very long book. It was only a few hundred pages, and Roy read like a maniac. The books he had with him had already been thoroughly read.

Unfortunately...there don't seem to be any in this world, and I have no idea how to get back to my own.

"Oh so you're also like me? Did a portal take you here?" Luna asked surprised that she would find someone in the same predicament as herself. That was not to say she would not like to stay in this world for a few weeks, if it was safe enough, but she would like to go back home as soon as possible. No doubt Harry and everyone else would be running around looking for Luna, perhaps she should have told them that she was going to take a walk around the Forbidden Forest? No that wouldn't have worked either as they would still would find no trace of her even if they scoured the entire length of the forest.

The man then told her that he had pictures of them as he gave her a book, saying that he had read from cover to cover, if there was anything a Ravenclaw loved it was books. Luna gave a small smile as she took the book, "Really? Thank you then...I really do appreciate it," she said as she opened a few pages to see what they looked like for the first time in her life, they didn't looked anything like what she thought they would look, but that didn't matter more so then the fact that they existed. Albeit in another world, but still they existed she then looked up at the man as she forgot that she hadn't introduced herself.

"My name is Luna Lovegood, I'm from Hogwarts, which is somewhere in Scotland, which is a country in Europe. What's your name?" she asked.

Roy smiled, and did an informal bow, customary of Sivelos. Despite never having been there, it was habit by now based on the memories embedded in his skull.

"Roy Nikanoru Atenwood. It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Lovegood."

He smiled, and stood up straight.

I....can't really say I have a home world. I was thrust through a portal, yes, but it's a very long story."

He nearly sighed. How to explain he was a shattered piece of an eldritch abomination without scaring off his new friend? It just wasn't possible. He had memories of things he personally had never seen, or experienced, and it was a bit jarring when he explained it to anyone. A bartender had asked him when he was eating nachos and drinking mead at a bar, and the man had kicked him out for being a freak.

And that was a gruff, surly bartender. How would a young lady react?

"Hogwarts....is that an academy for Magi?"

It reminded him of the Arcane Academy that Kaden had attended, and later destroyed. Kaden hadn't been a good man. Roy was determined to be one, however. Time to make something up on the spot to not sound weird.

"My...father...mentioned that he knew several people who attended on his interplanar trips. I, regrettably, don't have the power to travel between planes willingly, though."

Roy Nikanoru Atenwood. It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Lovegood.

Luna smiled at the introduction, it was nice to meet new people, before she met Harry and became his friend she was virtually a nobody. People were quite annoyed by her 'strange beliefs' and people kept stealing things and hiding them, she didn't mind them really she just forgave them for such things, in fact it made things exciting to look all over Hogwarts to find her things. But making new friends was secretly one of her hobbies.

Hogwarts....is that an academy for Magi?

"If by Magi you mean witches and wizards then yes it is, there are many other magical schools throughout the world, but Hogwarts is quite famous for many things. It's like a second home for a lot of the students, though right now I bet it's in ruins because of the battle," Luna stated as she wondered how long it would take for everything to be repaired? Probably a year at most since magic was quite handy for things like repairing old castles. "How about you Mr Nikanoru Atenwood? Do you have magical schools in your world?" she asked curiously.

Luna tilted her head in curiosity and awe, travelling to other planes? That must mean that Roy's father would be able to travel to other worlds, she wondered if his father ever visited her world? Probably not, or probably he did and the Ministry covered it up...wouldn't want people to be too interested in travelling worlds now would they? "How very exciting, I bet he told you lots of stories of other worlds, I bet they're very interesting," Luna said.

"Please, just call me Roy."

He smiled, wracking his brain again. He knew of the Arcane Academy, it was where Kaden had attended. He also knew of Taedo Academy, the school Kaden had applied to once he had finished four years at Arcane Academy. Taedo had been a school for gods, and the only reason he had been accepted was that his father was the God of War.

"There are two that I know of. Arcane Academy and Taedo Academy. Taedo means Deity in the ancient tongue of Sivelos. Arcane was where my father attended before Taedo."

Suddenly, a child fell from a window on a six story building. Roy heard the scream and acted immediately. As soon as the cry of "My Baby!" sounded, he jumped. And flew, catching the child about four stories from the ground, returning the young girl to her mother, and landing shortly afterward. It appeared that he didn't give this a second thought. People were staring, but he ignored them.

"I know many stories of planeswalking, yes...not all of them good, however. My father...was not a good man."

He wasn't stating things exactly, but there was a reason his visits to her world had been covered up if they had been recorded. Kaden was a monster.

Please, just call me Roy

Luna smiled at that, "Then you can call me Luna," she replied as it was only courteous that Roy would be allowed to also call her by her first name.

There are two that I know of. Arcane Academy and Taedo Academy. Taedo means Deity in the ancient tongue of Sivelos. Arcane was where my father attended before Taedo.

None of the names rang a bell in Luna's head, of course it wouldn't after all Roy was from a different world altogether. However it was nice to know that Roy's world still had magic, though she did wonder if they ever had problems with Muggles? Luna sometimes thought about what would happen if the Muggles ever learned about magic, it was obvious that there would be problems as the Ministry told them that they would want magical solutions for everything.

However to Luna that was the same line of thinking that eventually created Voldemort. Because Muggles and Wizards never got along it was bound to cause conflict when Muggle-born, and half-blood students come into school. For example Hermione Granger was the subject of many ridicule among the Slytherin while she could think of a few others that had been harassed due to their family background. All in all Luna thought that it wasn't a very good idea to implement such things.

Suddenly a baby fell from a window as Luna whipped up her wand intending to cast Wingardium Leviosa to levitate the baby. However Roy was faster as he saved the baby by flying there. Naturally people would be looking at him, but he didn't seem to mind and neither did Luna, she was used to be stared at while she was at school, "How interesting," Luna said as she frowned at his last comment, "what do you mean? Did your father do something bad?" she asked bluntly.

Roy was at a loss for how to continue the conversation. She seemed like an inquisitive young lady, though, so he figured it would be at least a learning experience if she knew what he was. What Kaden was. He let out a long sigh, as the crowds began to disperse.

"It's a long story....very long. Do you have some time to hear it?"

He almost desperately wanted to confide in someone, since the truth of what he was pained him. Kaden had been a monster, an irredeemable monster. He caused war and destruction for pleasure, and had killed and absorbed all the gods of Sivelos. Maybe confiding in someone would help him deal with it, somehow, though?

He sighed again.

"I'd really rather not bore you with all the details."

It would be best, he decided, to keep it to himself for now.

It's a long story....very long. Do you have some time to hear it?

Luna nodded, although she was quite lost as to where she was she was certain that she might be able to find some accommodation in this town. If not then she could Transfigure something into a bed, or some sort of sleeping bag and sleep outside, "I have plenty of time to hear a story," Luna said to Roy.

However Roy did not seemed pleased at the prospect of telling a story, perhaps because he did not wish to vilify his father? Luna could understand on that regard, she would not like to slander her father even if he did something bad, it was sort of an unspoken law amongst children...an in-built mechanism to never speak ill of one's family.

I'd really rather not bore you with all the details.

Luna nodded in understanding, "That's alright, I'm sure you have your reasons, maybe you could help me out? I'm not sure how long you have been in this new world, but perhaps you could tell me a little about this world?" she asked Roy.

Roy gave a slightly pained smile. He knew nothing of this world, and truly, even less of his through his own experiences. The only reason he knew as much as he did was Kaden's memories.

"I know very little of this world, though the sights, sounds, and especially the food and drink fascinate me."

Then his smile grew more pained. He had decided, which took quite a bit of resolve in his head, to tell her the story of Kaden. He had to have someone know, he decided. Someone to

"I think, as an apology for not knowing, I'll tell you Kaden's story. But first, we need to find someplace to sit down. It's a very long story."

At least he would know right off the bat, this time, if people were going to judge hjim based on what he was instead of who he was. He realized from Kaden's, ableit skewed, memories that Kaden was only the way he was because he had been judged his whole life.

He heard what sounded like Inoan music coming fron a small restaurant, and felt drawn to it. Inoa was Sivelos's equivilant to Ireland, in most ways. And he actually had some money.


"I'll buy you something to eat while I tell the story. That place over there looks inviting."

He pointed at the restaurant that reminded him of Kaden's home, and smiled.

Luna nodded when Roy said that he knew little of this world, she had not yet tasted the food yet, but she had hoped that it would be pleasant. Anyways it was just a hope that she would meet someone who would be more familiar with the area, someone who would be able to tell her what was going on around the world, it seemed the two of them would have to learn together about the world around them. That is if Roy would allow her to stay with him, if not then she suppose she could stay in this town and get used to the custom before exploring a bit of the surrounding area.

Luna looked at the restaurant as Luna nodded, despite her almost listless expression she was rather hungry, she had hoped she would have been able to eat something. However she then realised that she did not have any money with her, and even if she did she would venture to guess that it would not be accepted in this world. "Thank you Roy for the meal," Luna said softly to him as she entered the restaurant.
