Something wasn't right. Silver Eyes had been patrolling around the city for suspicious activity when the most alarming of all was off in the distance. She planted her hand against the edge of the edifice she was perched on and cast her gaze towards the horizon. It wasn't seen, but rather, felt. One could compare this feeling to a gust of wind rushing over your bare skin.
Then she heard the scream.
The hair on her neck stood on end, and her observing eyes widened in shock. It was so familiar; but why? Silver Eyes got to her feet. The city was quiet. All she could hear was the sound of her crimson cloak rippling in the wind. Who was she really? Why did she recognize that scream?
Those thoughts were distracted by a familiar group of people below. She crouched down and watched.
---
"We have to call off the search," Jenna pointed in the direction Silver Eyes was looking, "It's happening just as mother told us. If we leave now, maybe we can assist in stopping it."
Rowen's staff tapped repeatedly against the gravel road as he walked beside his elder sister, "Mother doesn't know how to stop it. How can we even fathom the amount of power it must take?"
Jenna disregarded what he said with a wave of her hand, "We have to at least evacuate. Warn people. If anyone goes against her, we'll help in any way we can. You can heal, I can assist in that. Any bit counts."
"...and if we can't stop her?"
Jenna paused, and a grim expression was on her face: "We go home. There won't be anything left of this place if isn't stopped."
---
Silver Eyes watched them disappear around the block. Mother? Why was that a familiar association with what she heard and sensed? She sat down Indian style and rubbed her aching head. Memories were starting to jumble around; nothing too serious was unearthing. Except one: a woman, who looked very similar to her, wreathed in white light and a breathtaking set of wisped wings.
Mother?
A scowl formed on her lips. Instead of rising up to help stop whatever was coming everyone's way, she was resolved to stay put. Her reasons were her own, but there was a strong feeling of hatred radiating off her. But why? What reason would she have for this strong emotion?
Without making a sound, she disappeared from sight.
