The sound of the alarm clock buzzed across the room as the rays of the suns above slipped through the blinders on the windows reaching the corner eye of Achlys vision, blinding it the moment she started to awake from her slumber. An irritable groan leaving her lips as she turned her back to the rays and rubbed her fists into her eyes. The suns were still something she was getting used to as she lived the past twenty-two years of her life knowing only darkness. Never venturing outside of Isafaro even once. Her mouth was forced open by a yawn as her feet touched the ground by her bed and she continued to get the sleep out of her eyes. Running her hands down her face and through her hair before pulling herself up to her feet. Dressed in a navy blue pair of pajamas, Achlys turned off the alarm and made her way into the bathroom.
Once there she removed her pajamas tossing them into a basket by the shower door and then stepping into the shower. Warm water came pouring out of the shower head and onto her naked body as she closed her eyes and let out a soft moan. Relaxing at the feel of the water against her soft skin while the shower doors began to fog. Taking the shampoo and scrubbing it hard against her scalp before rinsing it out and soaping her body. The water turned off and Achlys stepped out of the shower rubbing her feet against the rub and drying herself off with a dark green towel. Achlys came out of the bathroom with the towel over her naked body and walked over to her closet.
Opening it up and pulling out a long sleeve red shirt with a button up collar, a black jeans, black jacket and a matching hat. Reaching into her drawer taking out white 2-pack soft cup bra and hipster panties. Removing the towel from her body and placing on the bra before sitting down on the side of the bed to put her panties on, followed closely by the jeans as she stood again to pull them up and zip up the jeans. Grabbing the shirt and pulling it down over her head, arms through the sleeves and hands buttoning up the collar. After putting on her socks and shoes she placed the hat on her head and left the room while putting on her jacket.
Passing through the living room of her apartment she left, locking it up and descending down the stairs into the lobby and out into the parking lock where her bicycle was chained up. Even here the various and beautiful skyscrapers could be seen with the light of the suns reflecting off the glass. The large colossal tower visible in the background in its location south of Isafaro in Kari. Just by looking at it you'd never be able to tell this was a metropolis ran by a madman who's causes his enemies to unleash heavy amounts of destruction because they were coming after him with how beautiful it was. Mounting her bike, Achlys rode off out of the parking lot and down the pavement by the streets on her way to work. Eyes admiring the sight of the technological juggernaut now bathed in daylight. Though it did little to raise the temperature the people here were used to the cold by now. Isafaro was so often plagued by war that visitors rarely see what the city is like on an average day without conflict. Crowds of people walked past her on foot from both directions, each looking to get to their designation as quickly as possible. Cars driving by on the roads stopping at the traffic light up ahead on the nearly intersection. Beggars in poor clothing shaking small cans and asking, “Spare a credit?” to the people that past him. But none gave him a single credit and he continued on with his head lowered wondering how he was going to keep from starving on another day.
Vulture patrols stationed on each side of the highway, keeping a close eyes on things as they always do. Achlys was actually familiar with a couple of them through her dad who worked at the local Vulture outpost in the sector. Ever since the attack on the outpost in sector 4 by the Spokesman of Insanity she was worried that something would happen to take him away from her. But her father ensured her that he would be just fine so she did her best not to worry. On the same note Achlys worried about her mother who worked in Vulture's research after the news of what happened to the research facility in sector 12 and she attempted the same reassurance. Though Achlys had no idea how things there escalated in the matter that they did.
Achlys stopped at the red light of the intersection, waiting for it to turn green as she turned her head to see two soldiers nearby talking to themselves, overhearing their conversation. “No way man, Ayanna was definitely hotter than Meryl,” said the first soldier. “All that black leather. A guy could die.” “Ayanna always seemed too clean and neat to me,” replied the second soldier, “now Meryl on the other hand... Redheads are feisty and she looked like the type who wasn't afraid to get down and dirty if you know what I mean.” Achlys looked away in disgust just in time for the light to turn green allowing to cross over and make a right-hand turn as the windows of the surrounding building revealed to be a screen monitor as “Isafaro News” flashed across it complete with music and all as a woman brunette in a dark gray suit appeared to speak to the nation. “Disaster struck last night when up to 200 Vulture researchers were killed in a laboratory in Sector 12 just hours before the sector was closed down due to mysterious flooding. Known terrorists Spokesman of Insanity who is believed to be in tides with the terrorist group calling themselves “The Resistance” is believed to be responsible for the attack. We will have more on this development as Vulture patrols continue to investigate the sealed off sector.”
Achlys continued down the pavement on her bike, unsure whether or not to believe what was being said. The media, as most everything else in Isafaro, was controlled by the Vulture and it seemed unlikely that even they could shut down a whole sector that quickly. As she came around a corner she came to a stop when she heard a disturbance across the street. A poor man being cornered at the edge of an alleyway with some stolen goods as the Vulture patrols had their weapons aimed on him as their currently unarmed leader took the food back. “Stealing from us again, citizen?” said the lead Vulture's patrol. “Please those are for my family!” cried the man. “Family? Let's see what your family thinks when their dad comes home in a bodybag.” “No! Please! No!” Achlys froze up. The way across this street wasn't that long and if she wanted to she could have driven across to help by the time the lead soldier drew his pistol and fired. But fear took her and instead she just stood there and watched as the man was shot to death and fell against the cold pavement. The screams of two little girls echoing across the air as they were held back by their mother. The soldiers taunting the family before walking away, leaving the family to grieve.
Achlys looked away, shaken up at what she just witnessed. Telling herself that there was nothing she could have done even if she got there in time. They were trained, armed soldiers. She had no military training, no weapons training. Her father had wanted to teach her how to shoot but Achlys refused. What could she have done to save that man? That what she kept telling herself at least as she put her feet back on the bicycle pedals and rode down the sidewalk. Not being able to bring herself to look back to the grieving and starving family who just lost their father and the other citizens merely kept on walking without a second glance.

Darkness. That was all she saw now as she looked straight ahead after stepping through the portal to another world. The world that bastard vampire had discarded her sister Chloe to like a piece of garbage. It was so dark that Kat thought she had fallen asleep. But her eyes were wide open and her body, well her body couldn't move. Was she lucid dreaming? Her eyes finally adjusted to the darkness for her to realize that the thing above her was the inside of a casket lid. She was trapped inside a casket six feet underneath the ground.
Panic filled her body. Kat could see mental images of her sister going through the exact same thing as this. Her hands ripping out the cloth of the inner lid and banging through the door led by nothing more than adrenaline as she broke through the casket door only to be greeted by dirt pouring down into the casket threatening to bury her alive.
"Help me. Please!"
Somebody please help me!
Kathleen wasn't about to allow her search for Chloe to end before it could even truly begin. Though she would never be able to explain it to either herself or anyone else, Kat found the power to dig her way through the dirt and manage to make it up to the surface. Her hands sticking out of the grave site, followed closely by her head and the rest of her body as dirt fell down her skin and clothes. Gasping for the air that came back down into her lungs. Her still-beating heart pounding harder than ever before as she got up to her hands and knees. The second her fingers felt up the soil more images flashed through her mind. Through her sister eyes she could see a blonde woman trying to kill her. A mysterious female with silver eyes and violet hair show mercy to her and a silver-haired man who entered the scene later. Immediately after she saw that silver-eyed female again putting on some kind of shroud and the silver-haired man fighting some kid in the sewers before she came to. Her body still shaking in the aftershock of the flashes she just saw.
Not content with staying there and try to explain why and how she just broke her way out of a grave, Kat dusted the dirt off of her body and left the cemetery. Checking her pocket to make sure the picture of her and Chloe was still in tact and sighed in relief when she saw it was. This would make people identifying her sister much more easier having a picture for them to observe. As she left the cemetery and walked down the pavement her eyes were taken away by the vast amount of skyscrapers that now surrounded her. It was enough to make you dizzy and she about lost her balance getting caught up in all of them before she quickly regained it. Even New York City didn't have buildings this tall and there were people everywhere. Sadly people who didn't even have the time to wave as they past by, ignoring her. Getting frustrated with being ignored Kat jumped out in front of one person riding a bike to get their attention.
"Stop!"

Achlys' eyes widened when she saw the blonde jump out in front of her bicycle from out of nowhere. Instantly she turned to the right to avoid hitting her and pulling her feet back on the pedals to apply the brakes, the bike slowly falling to the ground as she hopped off of it and looked at the woman. “Are you crazy!?” she asked angrily. “You don't just jump out in front of someone like that!” Achlys picked her up bike and led it away from the people who were passing them by minding their own business before she climbed back over it and sat down on the seat. “Now please get out of the way. I can't be late for work.”

That got her attention. More than her attention actually but at least no one got hurt. Already though she was hopping back onto her bike and Kat was quick to run up to her side and keep up with her pace just to talk with her.
"I'll only be a minute. What is this place exactly? Where am I?"

Achlys began to look nervous when the blonde asked her where she was. That could only mean that she was one of those outer-worldly foreigners that kept popping up all over the world that Vulture has been hauling away when they showed up here. She was concerned if she was found associating with one that they would haul her away too daughter of a Vulture soldier and scientist be damned. Sweat began to pour down her face and she wiped it off with her sleeve as she looked over to the Vulture patrols who were still talking amongst themselves thankfully. But Achlys wasn't one to tempt fate. “Look, I can't help you. You're just going to have to find somebody else now please leave me in peace.”

"I'm not asking you what the square root of X is, I just need to know where I am!"
Kat was getting frustrated and it was going to be a long journey if everyone was as uncooperative as this girl. It was a simple question that shouldn't have taken more than a couple of seconds to answer. "Where am I?" Why was she so nervous all of a sudden? Kat's eyes glanced over to the soldiers nearby. Wondering if that had something to do with it.
"What, is it against the law to stop and ask for directions?"

“What's going on over here?” asked one of the patrols that came up to the pair. Achlys froze in place as her attempts to shake off the stranger and get to work was just halted by the Vulture's patrol. She applied the brakes on her bike for a second time in the morning and rolled up her sleeve to show the barcode on her wrist to prove she was a natural born citizen. “Just trying to get to work when this person jumped out of nowhere in front of my bike.”

"Finally! Someone who can actually help me."
So she thought. Kat walked around Achlys and her bike in order to talk to the patrols that just came up to them. Noticing the barcode on the woman's wrist and wondering if she was some kind of prostitute or something. That would explain why she was so jumpy before but what kind of hooker dressed up like a pizza delivery girl? How is that sexy? Oh well, whatever floated people boats. Wasn't any of her business anyway.
"I'm not trying to cause any trouble, officer. I'm just a little lost right now and need some direction."

“Show me your barcode, ma'am,” replied the soldier. The second patrol scanned Achlys and started reading through her records to see she was legit. The daughter of a local Vulture's patrol and researcher. As she got the clear to go on her way she looked over to Kat as she was told to show her barcode. Knowing that she didn't have one the young woman began to worry as the scene developed, looking to head for the worst.

"My what? What kind of a girl do you take me for?"
Her ignorance would be seen in that line alone as she looked between the two Vulture soldiers. Spotting the other soldier scanning the barcode found on Achlys' wrist and reading something on a small device in his hand before looking back to the soldier that questioned her for her barcode.
"Um... I'm from out of town..."

This girl was from out of town all right, and brand new. Anyone who knew even the slightest about this place would know better than to freely admit that, they'd be running as fast as their feet could carry them away from the soldiers right now. Achlys was given the clear to go and she wasn't about to push her luck getting involved in this altercation so she climbed back up on her bike as the Vulture troops looked back to Kat. “You're coming with us,” they said.

"I'm not going anywhere with you, I know my rights."
Kat proclaimed as she started to back away from the two soldiers that wanted to take her away like some kind of common criminal.
"Look, I'm just trying to find my sister. That's all."

“Rights?” The two soldiers looked at each other and chuckled before looking back at Kat. “You must be new here.” The two soldiers began to advance on Kat as Achlys just sat there and watched, finding herself in another inner struggle to do anything. But what? What could she do? As she wrestled over these thoughts the young woman only sat there and observed as the two soldiers reached out to apprehend Kat and take her away.

"Stay away from me!"
Kat slapped away the hands of the Vulture soldiers that were approaching her and then turned her attentions towards Achlys who were just sitting there on her bike watching.
"What are you doing? Help me!"
If she wouldn't Kat would give her no choice. She jumped on the back of her bike and screamed in her ear.
"Move!"

Achlys froze up once again as Kat was calling on for her help. Deep down she wanted to help her, to do what she believed to be right. But she was afraid of what the soldiers would do to her. They weren't gentle with anyone who broke Vulture's law and she heard about some of the things they did with members of the opposite sex. She didn't want to be dragged into any of that. But before she even had a chance to respond the blonde got on the back of her bike and told her to ride. Not wanting to be associated with Kat, Achlys swung her arm against her to knock her off the bike as the soldiers moved around Achlys to get to Kat. “Get off me!” shouted Achlys. The display was enough to keep the troops off her case however her chances of sleeping soundlessly tonight was severely limited.
