The soft sound of whispers filled the small alleyway, throwing papers down the cobblestones with a hissing and crackling. A figure seemed to form from the very shadows, lightly leaning on his walking stick. He was tall, very tall, and very thin. The right half of his face fell into shadows, pupils replaced by yellow stars in his red eyes. As he took in his surroundings, he mused to himself on his current situation. Having left his own dimension of Malice when a rip appeared, he had been separated from his apprentice. A soft tsk left his lips at the thought. 'She will not be far behind' he thought to himself. After all, he would not choose an idiot for his powers to be bestowed upon. No, though sometimes he wondered upon the real reasons for his choosing her. He slipped from the alleyway and began to stroll down the streets, a rather menacing figure even in something as simple as his walk, a slow but deliberate limp, leaning ever so slightly on his walking stick.

Mey Rin continued her search for someone who could tell her how to get home.
She turned the corner just in time to see darkness fading behind a very strange-looking creature. So many strange people here! He looked like a skeleton, tall. He was walking toward her.
Mey Rin still had her rifles out and ready from an earlier encounter, her skirt still hooked out of her way. She clutched the rifles tightly.

Tall Jakes discolored eyes fell upon what could only be a human female, if his senses were correct. A hostile human female. He felt no concern over the weapons, though his knowledge on that type of weapon was not strong. He raised a brow, the visible one, and stopped before her. A small chuckle, a harsh and creepy sound, left his lips. When he spoke it was with a voice that could never have been human, like a mix of whispering wind and claws on a window, the very sound creating the illusion of icy fingers up a persons back, chilling and dangerous. "Now aren't you quick to judge, my dear.." he cooed. Had she been able to see his mouth beneath the collar of his coat, she would have seen needle like teeth, razor sharp. "I do not suppose you could help me locate my apprentice? Or would you rather test your luck and pull the trigger?" Amusement danced in those eyes, which seemed piercing and chilling as the rest of him. An embodiment of terror.

Mey Rin paused only a moment before rapidly sheathing her gun and pulling her glasses on from her head. "Oh, I'm so sorry, yes I am! I thought you meant me 'arm... I'm a bit on edge, you see, just got 'ere from London... don't s'pose you've ever 'eard of the place? No one 'ere seems to 'ave. I could cert'nly 'elp you find your 'prentice, as I'm looking for me own folks meself! We can ask around togetha, yes we can!" She smiled broadly and made a motion to put forth her hand, but paused, and curtsied quickly instead, "My name's Mey Rin, and it's certainly a pleasure to meet a fellow stranger in need of 'elp, yes it is! I'm a housemaid to the Phantomhive estate (don't s'pose you've 'eard of it?) and just the best sniper there is, yep, that's me!"

Tall Jake was just the tiniest bit caught off guard, though his expression stayed stoic. For one, her accent hardly suited her appearance, or rather appearances, which led to his second point, the fact she had changed demeanors so suddenly. Still, he inclined his head ever so slightly. The third thing that surprised him was the mention of London, though he kept the familiarity to the location to himself. "I suppose we can.. help one another.." Something about the way he said it gave the simple words a certain 'nails on a coffin' edge.

Any air put forward by this man that would have made another suspicious blew entirely past Mey Rin. If the man said he wanted to help, she took him at his word; what else could he possibly want, anyway? She only had a little bit of money that did not seem to be worth anything here. And there were her guns, but this man probably had weapons of his own. He seemed only to be carrying a walking stick, which certainly could be quite deadly, if wielded with skill - and this man at least acted like he had such skill, Mey Rin could tell that much. Well, if he was wanting to take her weapons, he was not treading an easy path. Mey Rin smiled cheerfully. "Well, where should we start?" her brow twisted in concentration, "I've already asked at a lot of these shop about me own 'ome. Everyone just says they don't know anythin', except the restaurant owner of... forget the name... it's the one over... oh, I don't even know, some restaurant. Anyway, 'e said 'e thinks I fell through a portal. As crazy as that sounds, it makes the most sense. I was in London one minute, then I was 'ere, though this place looks at first a lot like London, but it ain't! Oh, I just want to go 'ome! But... sayin' it like 'fallin' through a portal' sure makes it seem like I won't be gettin' back."Mey Rin put one hand under her chin and frowned.

Tall Jake looked thoughtfull for a moment, nodding as he leaned on the walking stick slightly. "Then it seems we share a similar misgiving...My apprentice and I entered this world through a similar means from my own world..." He glanced at the sky with amusement in his eyes, then turned his attention back to the girl. "I suppose if we search the city it is possible we may come across our... companions..." he offered.

"Right! Where should we start?" she said. She wasn't one to give orders, especially to one who seemed so intimidating.... His eyes were weird.

Tall Jake seemed almost thoughtful for a moment, eyes half closed before turning his gaze back to the girl and peering down the bridge of his nose in a slightly eerie fashion. He could feel his apprentice was not far, indeed her energy had suddenly appeared but a ten minute walk away... or at least ten minutes for his long legs. For the shorter female, it could take twice as long, as far as he could judge. "My Ademi is not far," he told the girl. "I can sense she has appeared not far from here..." He led the way, leaning a bit on his staff as he walked with a faint limp. Indeed, he seemed to have been in an old battle, the half of his face often hidden in shadows was littered with old scars. Even the hand on that side was bandaged. Yet despite his decrepit appearance, a certain dark power emanated from him, especially his eyes. Up to this point, he had yet to share his own name, and he did not make any offer to do so now. He was apparently the type to give little information unless directly asked. Even then it was a gamble on whether he would share or not. He spoke little, and when he did speak his accent was of some ancient civilization, a speech old and regal. Something one would expect to find in old poetry or medieval writings.

Brushing some dust off her clothes, Summer Fall stood up straight. A quick glance around told her she had never been here before, so she grasped her sword tightly in her hand, just in case. Reaching up to around her neck, she gently laid her hand on the metal snake that was coiled around her neck. She turned in a slow circle and saw nothing of Tall Jake, the one who was to blame for her being here. With a sigh, Summer spotted a small bakery next to her, so she walked in and after ordering some coffee, she sat down in a chair and waited, figuring Tall Jake would be around somewhere.

Mey Rin followed the strange man, not knowing who Ademi was. She knew he had mentioned he was looking for someone, but what relation was she to him, again? She couldn't remember, and did not want to ask.
She ran to keep up with him. His long legs had made it difficult for Mey Rin to keep up, while walking, with his brisk walking pace, but she did not have to run to terribly fast to keep up.
Mey Rin followed him in silence, wondering what this companion of this stranger would be like. The name "Ademi" sounded feminine to Mey Rin, and the man had called this person "my," so maybe this was his wife or girlfriend or something... but he had not said he was looking for those or a similar title, she was sure if that. It was... she almost thought, "daughter." That was closer. It was someone he was in charge of.

Tall Jake drew up short quite suddenly. His gaze flickered to a familiar figure and he breathed a sigh of annoyance. "Just a moment..." he indicated for the girl to wait, then suddenly dissapeared, reappearing behind the seated female with his face so close to the back of her head his breath tickled her neck as he spoke. "And what, pray tell, do you think you are doing?" His voice held a slight venom to it, revealing some of the irritation he rarely felt. Then again it wasn't an unusual occurrence that his charge would create such feelings.

With a slight start and small chill running down her spine, Summer turned around to face Tall Jake, her long blonde hair blowing into her face as she looked up at with, showing no fear. "Waiting for you." She stood up and faced him. "Where are we going now?", her voice holding a bit of curosity

Tall Jake turned his gaze to the other girl who had followed. "Mey Rin...was it?" he asked the red head. With a slight guesture he introduced his apprentice. "This is my Ademi, Summer." He paused a moment in consideration. "It is only fair I assist you in finding your companions" he added to Mey Rin. "Perhaps we may have better luck if we consult the current head of this area?" he suggested.

Mey Rin looked at him with some surprise. "Do you think that would work? I've arsked about everyone... including policemen, and no one's 'eard of the Phantom'ive Manor. Although, arsking someone loike the King.. 'e moight know about the portals, if they are common around 'ere."
