Gabrielle made her way to the shelter within the city where she knew Zora had been staying since they first arrived. The most recent visit with the god of war still playing through her mind as she tried to figure out what his endgame was even now as she climbed up the stairs of the shelter to the floor the witch was on. The Traveling Bard finally decided to ward off those thoughts and focus on the task at hand. Informing Zora that she was going to take off for Elim and that she wanted her to remain here. It wasn't going to be easy, almost nothing was. But this was something the Traveling Bard just couldn't risk bringing Zora for. She was much safer here than with her anyways. "Zora?" Called Gabrielle as she entered her room on the second floor. "Zora are you in here?"

Zora was on the bed in her room playing with her wand. Watching the spark glow brightly at the tip as pieces of it rained down and burnt the carpet upon contact until her attention was taken over to the door that opened up while being knocked on hearing Gabrielle coming in from the other side.
"Zora? Zora are you in here?"
“Where else would I be?”
The spark on her wand's tip faded with a simple flick of the wrist and Zora tucked it back into her Slytherin robes before standing up and standing in front of Gabrielle now.
“Is it time to go?”

"That's what I came here to talk to you about." Gabrielle closed the door behind her and then knelt down in front of Zora with her hands on her on her shoulders. "I got a visit from an old... acquaintance. He told me some rather shocking news. Xena is alive. Xena is alive and she's currently located on a continent called Elim."

“Then what are we waiting for?” asked Zora. “I'll go grab my things,” she said before beginning to turn around.

"No, Zora. Wait." Gabrielle kept a firm grip on the girl's shoulders so she couldn't turn away from her. "I want you to stay here. Look, I know you're a big girl and you can take care of yourself but that's no excuse for putting you in danger as much as I have. I think it'd be better for the both of us if you stayed here and try to make a new life for yourself. This is a journey I have to embark on alone."

"No, Zora. Wait."
Zora was halted in her action and instead forced to look Gabrielle dead in the eye as the young witch raised an eyebrow in confusion.
“What is it?”
"I want you to stay here. Look, I know you're a big girl and you can take care of yourself but that's no excuse for putting you in danger as much as I have. I think it'd be better for the both of us if you stayed here and try to make a new life for yourself. This is a journey I have to embark on alone."
There was a silence between them for a moment, Zora's brown eyes looking into her own before she broke that silence with a stern tone so unexpectedly of what one would expect to hear from a child.
“I'm coming with you. You said it yourself, I'm a big girl and I can take care of myself so why worry about putting me in danger? I'm not cut out for this city life, Gabrielle. I was born to do so much more.”

Those words. Of all the things the witch could have chosen to say, it had to be those exact words. Gabrielle couldn't have had a better indication that fate was screaming at her than that. Those were the same words she had spoken to Xena when they first spoke with each other in her village. The words that led to so much trial and tribulation. And eventually here. They were destined to meet and travel together as she had with Xena before her. What else could it be? Gabrielle stood up and conceded to the child's wish as she looked at her. "All right, Zora. You win. Get your things we're departing right away."

"All right, Zora. You win. Get your things we're departing right away."
“I knew you'd see things my way eventually.”
Zora displayed a small smirk on her face as she spoke before turning around and packing, coming back to Gabrielle's side ready and willing to embark on this new journey. For the witch it was just another day at the office after everything they've been through together in the past year. She couldn't believe that much time has passed since the two met, strangely enough, here. Back when the city was still frozen over and known as the Crystal Expanse. What a strange twist of fate. Zora had grown attached to Gabrielle since their first meeting. Perhaps too attached.
“I'm ready to go.”

"Savor it while you can it isn't going to happen often." She said with a smile before leading Zora out of the room and the shelter. The luxuries Zora was used to was about to be gone and quite possibly it was a return to how she and Xena traveled back home. From town to town, village to village. Setting up campfires, fishing for food and other such endeavours. The Traveling Bard hope the child was up for it.
Because it was a long road ahead.
