OBJECTION!
The court house was jam packed this evening as the man sitting in the defendant chair literally had his life on the line as the Prosecutor slammed his right hand on the table he stood in front of at the Defense’s line of questioning against the present witness positioned in the middle of the court room.
“This line of questioning is irrelevant to this case!” proclaimed the Prosecutor.
“The Defense disagree, replied the Defense Attorney, “this line of questioning is the key to solving this entire case!”
“Then prove it. In the court of law evidence is everything. Can you prove that this subject has anything to do with the murder?”
All of a sudden the back and forth of the Defense and Prosecutor was interrupted as a bright white light blinded everyone in the courtroom. When the light finally dim down standing in the middle of the courtroom was none other than….
Luca Valentine.
“Oh dear.”
The crowd in the court erupted at the sudden appearance of the woman as the Judge banged his gavel and shouted, “Order! I will have order!” The Judge then looked at the young woman with wide eyes full of surprise. “What in great Cesar ghost!? You there! Who---? How---? Why---!?”
“Uhh…. Don’t mind me I’m just passing through.”
“Just….”
“Passing….”
“Through….!?”
“Well um…. Nice meeting you all.”
Luca clicked on a button on the black device that looked like a wrist watch and disappeared the same way she appeared. In a flash of light. Luca reappeared in the main hall of a great mansion that looked like it was ripped right out of a survivor horror movie.
“Wow what a mansion!”
Luca teleported again and this time appeared in a room with a blue robot and some old guy in a lab coat.
“Don’t mind me.”
Luca vanished again and this time reappeared in an all white room. When she turned around she saw a little black figure out in the distance waving at her.
“I love your hair!”
“Thanks! Still not it.”
Luca disappeared again and this time reappeared on a dark looking street. When she turned around she saw a building flashing a neon sign that said “Devil May Cry” at the front. Luca smiled and then approached the building, bringing her right hand down to the bottom and then ripping it up from the ground, lifting it up and then tilting it back slightly all with a single hand, showing off an amazing display of superhuman strength.
“Woohoo! Can the Devil May Cry come out and play?”
Luca dropped the building, watching it shake hard from falling back down in place as she took a couple steps back from the main entrance.

"Babycakes, what's the deal, eh? 'ere you are actin' like you've got nothin' ta worry 'bout yet ya do!"
"Why did you have to make this dream mobster-themed?"
Amoura stared down at her tuxedo and wasn't appreciating how the slicked back bun was pulling at her face. Still, the black fedora was a nice touch along with the dress shoes--Sasha would have been all over the shined leather. Standing next to her, in her blue-scaled glory was the "Other Amoura" also in a mobster-like get up only the tuxedo was a dark blue color to match her skin.
"'ey! I get these ideas from those movin' pictu'as yous watchin' over da years! Don't go blamin' me for da insp-aration." Other Amoura puffed on an expensive looking Cuban Cigar and blew out a lungful of smoke at her direction.
"What did I tell you about no smoking in my office?"
Amoura snatched it from her lips and crushed it under her expensive shoes. Wait, she has an office? Damn, the carpet is ruined. Amoura removed her fedora, placed it on the nearby rack and sat down in her comfortable leather seat--Other Amoura sat across from her.
"'ey, 'ey, 'ey! That was espensive!"
"Will you knock it off? I need to get a lot of rest because I'm leaving again tomorrow--the hell?"
All the furniture, including herself were falling at an angle that didn't make much sense.
"Looks like someone's messin' with tha' DMC buildin'."
"Can I wake up now, please?"
"Well, since you asked so nicely..."
---
Amoura awoke right when she collided with the wall by her bed. It wasn't painful but the worst wake up call in history. That Other Amoura could be such a pain in the ass sometimes. Quietly, she got up and used her ability to defy gravity on her way downstairs to start her day. The building was put back down followed by an exclamation from some woman outside asking to play. Could have just knocked on the door or rang the doorbell that no longer worked.
With a toothbrush and toothpaste, she started brushing her teeth and opened the door to look at Luca Valentine without a care in the world. Amoura didn't even bother to get dressed--she was wearing black shorts and grey camisole and her hair was a mess.
"No one's here. Want me to take a message? In words alone, if you please."
Amoura spat a wad of toothpaste coated saliva to the floor by the door and resumed brushing her teeth. Coffee actually sounded amazing right now. Wait, did DMC even have a coffee pot? No? Damn. Donuts would be nice too.

There were many scenarios Luca was expecting after allowing the building to fall back in place. The first one had to do with a certain silver haired man coming out guns blazing and then impaling her through the chest, like he has been more times than not. Another had to do with having her head smashed in by a guitar or shot in the face with a silver blessed 16mm bullet for disturbing the peace.
None of these things transpired. Instead Luca looked at a woman who looked like she literally just got out of bed. A woman she knew as Amoura. Luca just stood there with a blank expression on her face, it was only a moment but that blank stare had something “off” about it. Like it was more or less looking into your soul but it was a blank stare void of any emotion, not even a blink. Then finally after what felt like a full minute or two Luca smiled and clapped her hands together in joy.
“Are you Miss Amoura Ethelia?”

What the hell is she staring at? Was her choice of pajamas so out there? Wait, maybe it's the fact she's brushing her teeth in front of her and spitting just outside the door. Bah, let her judge, then. Amoura could care less if her manners were something to turn one's nose up at.
Ya know, toots--
For fuck's sake do you ever shut up? I'm kind of busy.
Don't mind me. I'll just keep looking through your 'archives'.
Instead of breaking the silence with conversation, the hybrid just kept brushing away to keep on her hygiene schedule. Above all, Amoura hated it when something came up that kept her from having that minty freshness in her mouth.
“Are you Miss Amoura Ethelia?”
"Mmhm." Amoura spat one last time and lowered her toothbrush. Mmm, mint. "What do you want? I didn't exactly appreciate your version of an alarm clock--I became well acquainted with my bedroom wall."
If she's only here out of boredom, then let her be bored.

Luca kept on that big nice polite smile that only looked right on the face of Luca Valentine. If it was Maricul it would’ve been something worthy of its own Twilight Zone episode. With Luca Valentine it was all the norm. She always had a rather positive attitude no matter how bad the situation combined with the kind of confidence you’d only expect from a good leader.
“Oh I do apologize for that. You see I was expecting someone else, someone who wouldn’t really respond to anything I did if I wasn’t a little “forceful” for lack of a better phrase. Won’t happen again.”
Luca readjusted her stance, shifting the weight from one foot to the other as she kept her eyes on Amoura. Something was “off” about this woman too but to Luca it didn’t matter. She knew what she was capable of and in this next endeavor that all that really mattered.
“Actually I’m here to hire you for a job. May I come in or do you prefer to speak outside? Either way is fine with me the weather is quite lovely.”

A job. Really? That's all she was bothering her for? The least she could have done was called and Amoura might have answered--let's put emphasis on the "might". The Silver Eyed Hunter wasn't always around so that's one of the main reasons as to why the phone may just ring until the voicemail picked up. Then again, Amoura never did anything but crash here.
"I don't work here anymore. I used to but I just make sure that nothing happens to it when I even bother to stay."
Amoura placed her toothbrush in one of her pockets, folded her arms and leaned against the door frame. Her vision unfocused from Luca towards one of the many grey strands that peppered her black hair. Should she dye it sometime?
"But," the hybrid shook her head, "if it's interesting enough I guess I'll look into it. No one's been here that I've been aware of. Devil May Cry's been on a lot of hiatuses lately. Dante's not here either."
So what other point was there for her to stay here? This place had memories that she hoped to forget one day yet she still kept coming back. Typical.
"Come in if you want," Amoura stepped from the door and walked inside.

Luca stepped inside the building and frowned at its condition. The place was a filthy mess, you could definitely tell a man lived here. It was in need of a woman’s touch, a classy woman’s touch. Unfortunately for the condition of the shop Luca didn’t have the time to give it that magical touch. The Demon Slayer that owns the place wouldn’t like her touch anyway. Well her touch on the shop at least.
“I’m amazed you can tolerate living in such a place.”
Luca turned around to Amoura and crossed her arms in front of her chest, making it a note to avoid leaning on anything to avoid germs. Oh how Luca hated germs. That was the last thing her otherwise perfect body needed.
“Oh it’s quite an interesting case if I do say so myself. Unheard of really. What do you know of the “grand design” Miss Ethelia?”

"It isn't that hard," Amoura hooked her bare leg around the door and shut it with a loud slam. There was no point in locking the place up since no one came here other than herself. Sasha left as did Michael due to the nature of the place and began doing their own work elsewhere. Michael was more concerned in finding his missing fiancee so Sasha was on her own for missions--it's a shame she was so dead set on collecting shiny things.
"I never stay here long so it doesn't affect me. The bills get paid, I still get water and the television if I feel like watching some show."
Amoura walked to Dante's desk, kicked up the chair and sat in it once it settled again. Well, come to think of it, this place really could be cleaned up. Maybe she'll get off her ass for once and give it a good run down with those dusty cleaning supplies stashed away in her room. Dante was always such a filthy bastard but he hadn't been here for seven months.
By the gods: most of this was her mess.
"I know absolutely nothing of this 'grand design'. Explain."

“Hmm…. Where do I begin….”
Luca trailed off, tapping her chin and thinking over how to explain this in a matter that was easy to understand before she finally spoke.
“The grand design consists of a single universe ever expanding as time goes on. Barriers were placed in this universe to separate each individual dimension which lies within it. This place is only one of thousands upon thousands of dimensions in existence. You with me so far?”
Luca waited for a confirmation before she continued.
“The grand design was created by one single “creator” that exists outside the universe. Nobody knows what the creator is like but it is understood that none of the gods we know of are the true creator. Recently a force has come along and shattered the barriers separating the dimensions and now they are all coming together and the grand design as we know it, hurled into chaos.”

Amoura sat in Dante's chair --well, technically it was her's now since he has not been around for a long time and she was paying the damned bills--, kicked up her legs, crossed them at the ankles, laced her fingers together and placed them behind her head to support it. The explanation was easy enough to understand and Amoura nodded to let her know she got it all. Come to think of it, it made sense, considering she was once thrown to another world for the longest time only to return here to mange what remained of this place.
"The creator did a piss poor job of making sure those barriers were invincible. It explains a few things, though. Maybe that's where the others vanished off to--somewhere else that's like this place."
That may also explain how she was able to get out of that nightmare world. The fight she had with Other Amoura couldn't have possibly triggered something this catastrophic so it must have been a stroke of luck that she found the right "rift" out. Still, the odds were far too much in her favor--maybe she's in the wrong universe.
"So you want me to go after the people who tore those barriers down I take it?"
This'll be fun to solo if she even bothers to do it. If the others came back, or if she found them, maybe she'd reconsider...

“Miss Ethelia, I do not believe you’ve quite grasp the severity of the situation.”
The smile on Luca’s face has vanished, the only thing that remained on her features was a serious expression as she looked towards the silver eyed female.
“Not just anyone can decide to one day tear down the dimensional barriers. It takes a kind of power that most beings in the universe can only dream of attaining one day. And then to remain hidden after accomplishing such a feat? Locating whatever did this won’t be easy, fighting it even less so.”

So what if the situation is severe? Amoura didn't think it'll bother her all that much so she didn't feel there was a need to rush things and figure out what the cause was for these tears were. Maybe someone just got bored and wanted to cause some chaos. Fuck if she knew. The hybrid continued with her "I-could-care-less" disposition and shoved her toothbrush back into her mouth just to chew on it.
After her explanation, which she thought wasn't all that necessary, Amoura removed her toothbrush and waved it, "No shit, Sherlock. No one can just do that in one day. To have that kind of power requires a collective working together and quite well."
Amoura placed her toothbrush back into her mouth and resumed, "It's obvious to state that each one has a lot of power at their disposal. Just don't know who would do it and why. You may as well tell me what it is you want."

“Now, now there’s no need for that kind of language. Especially from a lady,” scolded Luca. “Just because you work for that “Dante” fella doesn’t mean you have to take up his poor mannerisms.”
Look like it was time to get to the point of the business trip. After that last comment Luca had a prediction Amoura patience for the aqua-haired female would soon wear out.
“That’s simple really. After all this chaos took place towers started to appear throughout the various dimensions. These towers act as a gateway between the worlds, a kind of “regulated” means of travel. The one in my world is called the “Downward Spiral” and is now being fought over by the nations. It is my belief that these towers hold clues as to who or what has caused this crisis. Gaining control of the towers will be critical to solving this mystery. I believe you’re already acquainted with one of the nation leaders fighting over the tower. The Red Devil – Ranko.”

"Correction: I 'worked' for him. I just picked up on a few things over the years that added some 'taint' to said 'mannerisms'." Amoura put her toothbrush down and resumed lounging as best as one could with only a chair and a worn out desk. Why should she care if another woman finds her swearing and choice of lifestyle to be degrading to some degree? Oh, right, she didn't care.
That is, until the name of 'Ranko' was mentioned. "Hold up. Did you say Ranko?" Amoura put her feet down and got up from her chair. Now this was catching her interest, "I'm guessing this isn't the Ranko I know? I never took her for the type to want to take over something simply for power gain."
This got her mind racing on other things. What were the others like? Was Sparda a blabbering drunk or the same old demon she knew? Maybe Sasha was more serious? Ranka less serious? Or worse; what if Maricul was a nun? That image was a little too scarring for her liking.

Luca smiled. She had thought the name of the “Red Devil” would have pegged the woman’s interest. Now she was finally getting somewhere.
“The Ranko you knew didn’t have a nation at war with itself and an economy to consider.”
It was simple really. Different incarnations were roughly the same person in personality but circumstances and life choices caused the changes you’d see between dimensions. But Luca would allow the silver-eyed hybrid to figure this out on her own. You never know, it might be the same Ranko and it might not be.
“Managing such a tower would be a full time thing so just imagine the amount of jobs it could create. Not to mention that she could end war within her nation and bring everyone under the same banner by having a common goal and a common enemy. But it’s hard to say whether or not this is the Ranko you know. You’d just have to meet with her and see.”
