Kyal couldn't see through the blizzard.
He stumbled onwards through the snow; wings limp and dragging, frosting over and weighing him down more. He didn't know where he was or what was pushing him onwards, but something was, like a hand that was pulling him no matter what his own wishes where.
He hadn't stopped moving in days - even for a God, in his mortal form he was ready to drop dead. But again, he couldn't. He was dimly aware of two rising structures - cliffs - flanking him now, as sheer as there ever was.
Why am I doing this? He asked himself as he stumbled, almost going down to one knee but catching himself - and immediately he carried on walking. Something wasn't right, not just with him... but something was wrong. He'd never done this before, and in the back of his numbed mind he realized he was afraid.
He plunged deeper into the cliffs before he came to a small clearing - where no snow fell. It was pure, green and fresh, as if it had suddenly turned to summer time. He sank to his knees in the centre, by a large body of fresh water.
Am I dreaming this? Is this a mirage?
A soft chuckle rang through his ears - a voice he couldn't forget, but he wanted to. It shouldn't have been possible, every single law of his universe had been shattered by that very sound. For several seconds his brain couldn't process it, and he sagged, hands catching his upper body and fingers sinking into the earth.
"No, my love. I'm very much here."
Kyal's blue eyes snapped shut and he held back a scream of anguish, of anger, of hatred... of longing. He felt feathers brushing beneath his arms, the claws resting lightly on his breastplate under the robe. His breathing stopped as he felt himself being pulled backwards, his head resting against yet more feathers, his head tipped back to look up.
"You can't be." He whimpered aloud, all of his power, his nerve, his assurances sapped away in the space of a few seconds "I... I killed you. You're a piece of me now, I-"
"And do you regret that?" The voice whispered quietly in his ear, like silk - but there was no subtle motive, no teasing or taunting - perhaps a little sadness, however. Just a tinge.
There was a long pause as Kyal's mind worked overtime, trying to process this. It was like someone had opened a floodgate and everything came pouring out at once. He began to cry openly, sobbing into the embrace.
"Yes. Yes I do. I know... I know we're part of each other and what you made me do... to my creations-"
"Was because they took up your time, Kyal. I am a bad apple, I know I am. I was born to be your black hole, as it where but... I sat and helped you, yet all I wished for was a night to ourselves. When you came back, before you killed me..."
He froze for a moment as his mind was torn to pieces at the realization of what had happened. His fingers sunk so hard into the earth he thought they'd break as the splinters of thoughts seemed to pierce into his skull itself - he couldn't have. He wouldn't. He didn't, that wasn't possible-
He felt the hands detatch from his waist and join with his and he clutched them as hard as he dared. He wanted to go home. He wanted to erase what he'd done to her - to Crow. She was just doing it for him, and in his anger-
And then he felt something else. His eyes opened and he looked down and he felt something he'd never felt before tear at his heart, threatened to make him collapse. It was perhaps a big as a football, pure black with bright white eyes. Almost comically was a pointed mouth that sat directly in the centre, literally forming black teeth out of the lips.
It looked very much like a black hole - blacker than the night itself. It seemed to yawn and snuggle into his hands as Kyal lifted it to his breast and began to cry again.
"What should we name him?" The Crow asked quietly, resting her head on his shoulder, her beak glinting in the sun.
Kyal paused for several long seconds, looking down at the child in his hands in thought.
"Shai" He replied suddenly, smiling as he felt her nod softly in agreement before she chuckled softly.
"You're a father, Kyal." The Crow whispered warmly, and held him tighter as the little black mass of baby Shai purred.

For anyone confused, The Crow looks like a Anthropomorphic Crow but a little more human in overall shape. She has wings like Kyal does, but the rest of her is Crow like on a human body.
