Her heart dropped as the crimson sprayed over her flesh. She hadn't hit that har- "Oh fuck..." She had forgotten, she wasn't human anymore. Of course it had gotten through! She was about to rush to him when she caught that look... Those gold eyes... Oh shit, she had fucked up good. Nothing to do now but fight- for real. Time to put her skills to the real test as the sword materialized into his hand and the sonic boom rushed for her- wait, she could see it? She wasn't human anymore. So that meant the she was faster now. Digging the balls of her feet into the ground, literally as fast as lightning, she sheathed her blade and ripped out out as hard as she could. She prayed that this would work...
Because of her added speed and power, she sent her own sonic boom right hack at him. it sprayed up the earth as it flew to meet his and collide head long with it. As an added measure she flung herself to the side out of the way, only to be met by Kenshin's Kuzu Ryusen. In that instant, something happened that she couldn't understand. He flew at her in slow motion... the entire world slowed down. Was this her traits finally kicking in? She didn't wait to ponder it over tea. She returned it with her own Kuzu Ryusen, striking as fast and as hard as she could, meeting the tip of his blade perfectly with each strike- only to be knock backward. She needed to act and she needed to act now. She pulled a move she hadn't done in a looong time. A move long taught to her by one of her teachers- the God-speed. She kicked into action, aided by her new found traits she used her kickback momentum to spring back out of the way and land a good twenty feet from him. "KENSHIN! ENOUGH!" Her voice was solid and firm as it bellowed out over the field. Thank goodness she had strong lungs. She doubted it would be enough to snap him out of it, but she had to try. Better than killing him or getting them both killed.

His Kuzu Ryusen had been picked off perfectly, leaving no doubt that she had indeed learned and mastered the Hiten Style. But even so, handed down through the generations, it would have lost it's power. Just as his wasn't as powerful as his masters, and nowhere near as powerful as the creator of the style's had been. Perhaps that added strength would give him a measure of equal footing against her. His eyes lock onto hers, ignoring her bellow, fully enveloped by the Battosai. He takes a deep breath, before letting out a short shout of his own, the air around him brimming with energy as he used his swords aura. His senses were at their peak, as was his speed and strength. Already the bleeding had stopped on his chest, and he gave her his death glare, perfected in the midst of the turbulent Bakumatsu revolution.
He slowly starts walking towards her, his eyes never leaving hers before he seemed to simply vanish, appearing above her as he hurtled down with the Ryutsuisen. No matter what she was, he'd gone through hell and back, literally even, on his own world. His speed had been augmented beyond that which one would achieve through the Hiten Mitsurugi style, more than enough to match her. Despite his wounds and exertion, he only seemed to being going faster now. Without waiting for her to reply in kind, he hits the ground, dancing back a step as his sword changes hands as he dropped and charged forth with the Gatotsu, his thrust aimed for her right shoulder, intending to take her sword arm out of play. Or off her body. Whichever.

She did nothing but stare right back at him, giving him the same exact glare that he was giving her. Inside, deep deep inside a small voice spoke to her- Kill him. Just kill him. He is not even your own blood. What does he matter to you? You know you want to... She sighed and closed her eyes as he vanished. In her mind's eye, she saw a different pair of golden eyes staring back at her. Normally she would have ignored them, knowing full well what the voice was. But this time, they were overlapped with the faintest hue of purple. I will trust you... she spoke to the double hues and felt Kenshin descending upon her like the vicious killer he was. She simply took backpeddle out of the way of his new blade. He stepped back, adding to the distance "And you can fuck off!" She screamed at the single golden pair.
Her eyes snapped open, mirroring the dual pair in her mind and instantly she vanished, the demon and vampire blood coursing through her and completing her transformation. No trace of her would be left behind for him to follow. The Blood of Sparda and the No Life King filled and fueled to her speed- she would be impossible to follow, even for him... Until the hilt of her sword came down on the back of his neck to incapacitate him and her free hand tried to grab his wrist to activate the tendons in his wrist to release the sword.

In a flash she was gone, but he'd seen this trick before. He lets the momentum of the Gatotsu carry him forth, tucking into a roll to put distance between him and Melany as she appeared behind where he'd been standing, launching another Ryumeisen was she was in the process of attacking a target that was no longer before her. With that in mind, he enacts a bit of his own magic, appearing before her as his sheath flashed out to strike at her out reached arm, strong enough to shatter even her bones, sealing her off as his blade came back from the other side to slam hard into her. The Soryusen Ikazuchi.

A vicious attack indeed. She remembered how fast she had healed back in the room... Better to just take it- but not her arm. She drew that back and tight into her side as the blunt side of his blade crashed into her other side. Knowing that loosing her sword would be a bad option right now she kept it over his blade so as to not get her arm caught in the blow. Sure enough the metal struck true and she caused her to fly to the side, but only a small crack was heard. So her body was stronger too, she winced in thought as the pain spread. But even as she was flung to the side, the ribs healed and she was whole again before she hit the ground.
She brought her feet under her and slid back in a crouched position to a stop. Immediately launching herself back at him, time to volley. She sheathed her sword and sent out that same ripping and rampaging vacuum soaring at him at near the speed of sound- but immediately after it, there wasn't just one wing... there were six. Six criss-crossing vacuums, each immense in size and packing enough punch and speed that the ground didn't even so much as shudder until a good time after they passed. But when it did, it practically exploded from the sheer force. The Kaiten Kenbu Rokuren... and now she had the speed to pull it off with one blade. if he looked, her would see that she had grasped the blade itself to shorten it enough.

He didn't blink as he sheathed his blade in a flash, dropping into the Battojutsu stance. He enacted a simple ability, and his form seemed to dim as if he were fading out. He'd gone intangible. The strikes of the Kaiten Kenbu passed through him harmlessly as he materialized fully back into reality, becoming whole and hale once more. A simple blink teleport closed the group between them as he drew his blade. All of his speed and skill were poured into this attack, the Amakakeru Ryu No Hirameki. The first strike was inconsequential really, whether a block or strike. The sheer speed and power with which the blade was drawn forced the air in the area out, creating a vacuumn that pulled her in as he spun, coming up in a rising slash for the second attack of the two part Battojutsu. The rising upward slash would deal heavy damage to her and launch her high into the air, and as he stepped back, he turned his blade around, wielding the killing edge.

"She had done this time and time again, working and perfecting for hours, days, weeks, months, years on end- and now it was time to show the fruits of her effort. The air around her, so agitated before with it’s shimmering and undulating form, become totally still. Her response was simple. The Amakakeru Ryu No Hirameki had one flaw and one flaw alone. After it was completed, it left the user open for a brief second because of the power and momentum necessary to complete it. And this is what she used. No matter how powerful the strike, no matter how fast it was, it was done by a thin blade that couldn’t cover an exceptional area at one time unless done in special ways. This was the flaw.
When she felt the pull of the blade tugging at her body, she let it take her and add to her momentum. Then, just as she Battosai’s blade was about start its bloodied path at her hip, she put on a burst of speed to fly straight past and over the blade and over his shoulder, her own blade turned to rake his shoulder as she passed. Once she landed, she would turn and returned the favor with a Kuzu Ryu Sen of her own, followed swiftly by a quick drawing of her sheathe to strike him across the ribs and circling back with her sword to cleave clean at his shoulder simultaneously.

((Just a small mental cameo. Nothing too fancy.)) Mel, I'm going to be away for a while. This is gonna suck but bare with it.His fledgling would suddenly get a bad headache before suddenly having knowledge of every technique he had ever learned, every ability, how to control her healing, her regeneration, her familiars whenever she got them... everything Tony knew as far as combat was concerned she knew. Years of training now in her mind, in her muscles and bones, in her blood and soul...

Despite his appearance and his barely contained rage, Battosai was a master swordsman. His eyes watched her, never blinking, noting every tensing of her muscles. All but screaming at him what she would do. As he comes around for the second and oft lethal strike, he adds his own burst of speed just as she does to dive over him, planting and pivoting on his foot to continue his spin, his rising blade catching hers as it sought to strike him. Foolish child. The force of her blow knocked him back, giving her the opening to launch into the Kuzu Ryusen, but he was still no fool. The only move faster than that was the Amakakeru Ryu No Hirameki, but he was in no position to employ it once more.
Instead, he counters with his own Kuzu Ryusen, each blow picking off hers perfectly as she advances with the Soryusen Ikazuchi. She was fast, but he was no slouch himself. He pulled his blade in, pulling his sheath up to block both her strikes, leaving him free insider her weapons with herself defenseless. However, he couldn't disengage his sword to strike at her directly, and could only settle for a quick disengagement. His legs twitch as the send him into a flip, aiming a kick just beneath her chin as he lands, rising with a quick Ryushosen, aiming a second strike at chin. Due to her quick actions, he hadn't the time to reverse his blade, so he was still wielding the blunt edge. It wouldn't be fatal, but it'd surely rattle her teeth. By now she would clearly note a few simple facts. The first being he was no limited to the Hiten Mitsurugi style alone, the second being that he was just as fast as she. His eyes flash as he leaps back to disengage from her after touching down once more, lifting his blade to the ready once more.

"What?" The headache hit her hard- it felt like something deep in her mind had literally snapped and her vision split for a brief second. However, as fast as it had come, the pain vanished and in it's place was nothing short of some of the most amazing knowledge she had ever witnessed. She had no idea what had happened per say, but that didn't matter for the moment- she had to move and it was a simple thing to do. Lean back to avoid both the kick and the Ryushosen, jumping back over herself in a handspring, sword in hand, and letting the attacks fly right past her. She landed on her feet and knelt, waiting. She let all of this new information and ideas flow through her mind.
Knew what she had to do. She didn't want to do it, but she would. Just like all the other times she had maimed or killed, this would be but another notch in her belt. It would be sorrowful if the events unfurled themselves and she honestly prayed that it would not come to that, but if it did... she was prepared. A hand slipped over her shoulder, a kind and comforting but solemn hand. A hand she well knew and trusted. His hands formed with hers, his eyes became hers, his blade became hers. And if Kenshin looked closely enough, he would see the mirror of himself cloaking through her form and staring back at him.
Her only move was one that would seem very unorthodox. She placed her right foot only slightly in front of her and kept her weight even on both feet. Her sword, now in her right hand from her previous attack, was held sideways at angle to cross her body. The other hand lay open and pressed against the back of the blade... And waited.

He narrows his eyes as she settles in, reading her stance. However, something more was revealed to him. Behind her, there appeared to be a shadow of some sort. Upon closer examination, he recognized it. It was himself. The realization rattled him as he realized how far he'd slipped in his control of the Battosai. He wavers as he drops his blades, staggering back a step as he covers his face in one hand, eyes shut tightly as he fought for control. "I can't...I'm sorry." he manages to gasp out, spinning on his heel and sprinting away. He had to get far away, far from anyone else that might get hurt because of him. Already he'd lost control of the Battosai within, and were she not as capable as she had been, she would've been killed. He flees into the darkness settling around them, not once looking back as he sought to escape the Battosai and the past that haunted him.
