History: Thor was born the son of Odin, the All-Father of Asgard, and Jord, the Elder Goddess Gaea. His early life is shrouded in mystery and myth, but there are certain aspects which stand out clearly enough. Thor was always the more physically and martially accomplished when compared to his brother, Loki. As a young child, Thor was sent to Nidvaellir to have three treasures forged by the dwarf lord Brokk and Eitri. Among these was the mystic war hammer Mjolnir, which would one day become Thor's personal weapon. The weapon was later enchanted with many powerful spells by Odin and locked away for the day Thor became worthy of its use.
For years afterward Thor would strive to become strong enough to wield Mjolnir, and accomplished many profound deeds. He became Asgard's greatest warrior before he even turned twenty, and during this time he fell in love with the goddess Sif. She was kidnapped by storm giants and ended up a prisoner of Hela. Thor offered his own life in exchange for her freedom, and the goddess of death, impressed with his nobility, let them both go. Their romance would be tenuous at best over the years.
Sometime during the ninth century AD, Thor travelled to Earth to promote his worship amongst the Vikings. He and other Asgardians were hailed by both the Norsemen and Germans, and Thor actively encouraged this worship, pushing them to find glory in battle. He withdrew his presence and worship of Asgard died out when he discovered horrid atrocities being committed in his name.
Thor was sent to Earth to live out the lives of the mortal Germanic heroes Siegmund and his son, Siegfried. Thor played a large role in Odin's efforts to reclaim the Ring of Nibelung. Siegmund was killed by Hunding, but Thor was reborn as Siegfried. Siegfried took possession of the Ring after slaying Fafnir. Siegfried fell in love with the Valkyrie, Brunnhildem byt was murdered by Hagen. Odin resurected Siegfried as Thor, but wiped his memory of his two mortal identities.
Adolf Hitler was succesful in contacting Thor and deceiving him into aiding t he cause of the Germans in World War II. He fought against the Invaders and nearly killed Union Jack. Learning that Hitler was evil, Thor withdrew from the battle, healing Union Jack as he went. After this, Thor led an active life in Asgard, commencing and completing many adventures of great renown, and being sent to Midgard numerous times to learn humility. Thor's pride increasingly frustrated Odin, and after breaking a truce between Asgard and Jotunheim, Thor was forced to surrender Mjolnir to Odin and was sent to Earth in the guise of Donald Blake.
Thor's memories were wiped of his true heritage, and he learned the value of humility and perseverance in dealing with his crippled leg, and came to care for the sick and dying. He became a professional physician with great success, and quickly gained renown over the world as a skilled surgeon. After ten years in this life, Odin planted the idea of a vacation to normal within Blake's mind. There, he encountered a pair of Kronans. Fleeing from them, he took refuge within a cave. Within this cave, Odin had left Mjolnir, transformed into the guise of an old wooden cane.
When a boulder trapped him within the cave, Blake struck the boulder with the cane, and was transformed back into his true godly form. Thor escaped the cave and drove away the Kronans, though he still had no memories of his true life. Over the years his memories would return to him, and after several years Odin revealed the falsness of the Blade identity and the reason for it. Thor maintained his Blake identity and medical practive on Earth, realizing an unknown affection and affinity for the planet. He divided his time between Earth and Asgard, and did so for many years to come.
Since this time, Thor has engaged in countless battles against threaats to both his own home of Asgard and the Earth. He has become Lord of Asgard, become omnipotent, lost this omnipotence, faced death more than once, and even faced the nigh-omnipotent Galactus. Thor was among the first to explore a strange disturbance in the fabric of dimensions, arriving at a strange sort of tower which had speared from the Earth...
