Dragon [Chapter XVI]

The dragon let out another loud screech of pain as it returned to a right side up position and flew downward getting the dart right into the back as the dragon crashed through the top floor of the apartment complex, destroying the surface underneath Laura's feet and attempting to take down two birds with one stone as it tore a hole through the top of the building.

[Miracle]

All Miracle could do now was buried her face into the back of the dragon and held on tightly as they made their way through concrete walls, windows and pillars destroying the roof up above and causing it to collapse on the rooms they broke through still managing, by the grace of God, to remain on the dragon as unbeknownst to Miracle Laura was on the roof of the apartment that just came crashing down.

[Tenjou, Utena]

Laura fell all right, right on top of the dragon.
"Miracle!"
Laura tossed the staff over to the child and then aimed the tranquilizer gun unloading several point blank shots into the dragon's back. It was time for a nap.

The tranquilizer's darts were starting to take effect as the dragon's eyelids closed and its wings came to a stop which of course, for all of them riding it, meant there was only one way to go from here. With the dragon drifting off to sleep Miracle and Laura found themselves on a collision course for the streets of New Orleans, right on top of the screaming civilians down below.

[Miracle]

Miracle caught her staff in her free hand and felt the sudden shift in the wind as the dragon began to fall through the air.

"Hang on!"

The High Priestess held up her staff and a faint heavenly glow surrounded them and the dragon, slowing its descent to the ground and giving the people of New Orleans a chance to get away before the large sleeping dragon gently laid against the streets and stopped moving. No longer a threat to anyone Miracle saw fit to rid of the beast forever, climbing up on its head and bringing the sword down to penetrate its brain.

[Tenjou, Utena]

"Miracle, no!"
Laura grabbed Miracle's sword just in the nick of time to spare the dragon's life and took the sword away from the child as she attempted to plead with the High Priestess.
"The dragon has been put to sleep, there's no need to kill it. We can transport the dragon back to his home and you can close the portal from there."

"Miracle, no!"

Miracle felt the weapon get taken out of her hand and turned around to Laura.

"The dragon has been put to sleep, there's no need to kill it. We can transport the dragon back to his home and you can close the portal from there."

"Your people has already failed to protect the worlds once. How do I know they won't keep this dragon locked up for further study?"

"I give you my word, don't you trust me?"
As the two spoke they would soon be surrounded by police, a news crew and several of the on-lookers from before and they all had one thing in common; they were in shocked at what they had just witnessed with the two and the dragon. Taking Miracle's hand, Laura climbed off the dragon and quickly got them both under police protection not wanting to answer any questions for the media.
"Just keep walking, Miracle."

"I give you my word, don't you trust me?"

"It is not you who I distrust."

Miracle turned her head in time to be nearly blinded by a white flash of light from a smell metal device from one of the people down below as Laura helped her down from the dragon's back. The young High Priestess was used to both large crowds of people and bright flashes of light but never together like this. She heard them ask her several things such as, "What is your name?" "Who are you?" and "How did you take down that dragon?" But Miracle would not be given the time to answer any of them as Laura led her back to the car and drove off.
