Burn [Chapter XIII]

Normally Kara's natural invulnerability would have made such a strike ineffective but the demon blade was different. Instead, when she saw the first slash coming at her at alarming speeds she had to reduce the strength in the blow sufficiently to where it was unable to launch her into the air, but what it did manage to do was interrupt her closing of the portal and bring her attention back on Ranko. Her eyes lit up a bright red and she unleashed a powerful blast of Heat Ray Vision against the Crimson Devil in retaliation.

[Sparda]

Demetrios watched as the blast of green energy flung at him by the sorcerer who answered him bounced harmlessly off his armour. He had felt the feeblest attempt at a direct assault upon his soul - or souls, to be more precise, for Asmodion's very being inhabited this body along with him. That was what had probably saved him from this attack.

Pleasantly surprised, the monstrous knight stomped towards Quan Chi, answering him with a haunting, metallic chuckle in the midst of the death screams of the demonic soldiers he cut down on the way. Each one who fell lost his soul to the warrior before it could be recycled by the hellgate, a faint cerulean mist creeping from their mangled bodies and into the glowing eye sockets of the skulls that adorned his armour.

"Confused? I suggest you spend your last thoughts pondering that failure."

With that, the Ajerian warrior vanished - only to reappear behind and to the right of Quan Chi, having sprinted across the distance with such speed as to appear to have teleported. Immediately upon touching down he set himself into a lightning-quick spin, kicking up a powerful cyclonic gust around his body that buffeted Quan Chi, possibly unseating him somewhat.

He stopped just as suddenly, braced firmly against the ground, and opened up with a brutal diagonal swing of his massive sword across Quan Chi's body that unleashed all that turbulence. Along with Diabolus' jagged blade came a flurry of razor-compressed gusts of air that ripped and lacerated the ground and air for five feet around his body; a sphere of death that encapsulated the Ajerian.

[Bee]

Anderson felt himself beating on his own chest with the large bible and his fist considering he had no bayonets drawn, at first he almost laughed at how ludicrous this was, but it didn't take long to figure out what was going on. "Smite thy doppelganger." The bible opened and the holy light from it burned away at his shadow where Saibot was.

All the while, Anderson felt no different than before. Perhaps it was the fact that the bible he held was a fuel for his power as much as the holy relics in this realm and from his own realm. As the soldiers came his way he continued to smile at them drawing his sword in hand while cradling the bible in his other.

The pages of the bible protected him and surrounded him, his sword slashed releasing a wave of holy energy that would wash over the soldiers advancing on his position.

[Ayen]

One Air Trick and a Slash Dimensional C later, the Goddess of Jherra would find herself amidst a cyclone of slashes by the demonic blade. Meanwhile the specter's powers of Scorpion and Noob Saibot would triple with the field advantage, and Quan Chi's own sorcery would increase as the three elites began their individual battles among the defenders of Moon Valley.

The rest of the soldiers continued onward, soon there were too many for the defenders to hold back as for every one they pushed back, twice as many moved past them and continued further into the rest of the city. They attacked the Moon Valley Police and the small army established there before forcing citizens out of their homes. The natives did their best to fight back, Tori was among them holding off the invading forces with her father and older brother giving others time to flee. The survivors of this battle would retreat to the desert Empire, the closest available city to Moon Valley. The ones that didn't would emerge from the portal as one of them, a demon. Doomed to spend eternity under the command of the ruler of the Netherrealm. Whoever they may be.

[Kragen]

Scorpion held up his arms and blocked the chains, striking back at the end of her combination with a leg scissor take down to ground the Soldier of Justice.

[Tenjou, Utena]

Grabbing the spear from Sailor V, Utena stood in front of Aminee to protect her and fought off the soldiers that came her way. She became panic-stricken when the soldiers started to grow so great in number that they were unable to hold any more back from entering further into the city. If they were going to have any hope to win this they had to get that portal close. She hoped the priest had the power to do but if not him then it was up to Kara. All Utena could do now was hold her ground and protect Aminee from further harm.

Speaking of which...

Utena caught Aminee about to run herself through with a sword and quickly snatched the weapon out of her hand. Under normal circumstances she would have tossed it but given the situation Utena kept it in her hand, now using the spear as a secondary weapon, using it to help her fight off any of the soldiers that came in her direction.

[DC Comics]

Quan Chi turned around and smiled at Demetrios, unphased by the attack as the soldiers moved around the knight and self-destructed to inflict massive damage. The Sorcerer had anticipated an attack the moment Demetrios vanished from sight; ignorant to the true power of the warrior standing before him he chose the safe route, he faded out of existence right when the attack hit and allowed the fallen angels to do the rest. They continued to approach Demetrios only to explode and repeat the process in an infinite loop demonstrating the hopelessness of the situation as the Sorcerer watched on.

[Garrus Vakarian]

The shadow dispersed before the holy light hit and Noob Saibot reappeared in front of Anderson after the wave of holy energy, sending a medium size bluish-white fireball towards the holy priest.

[Sailor V]

The Soldier of Justice was taken down to the ground but managed to break free from the leg scissors and on her way up, kicked several pieces of dirt up from the ground into the specter's eyes with her chains before wrapping it around his neck.

[Aminee Starlight]

Again she would be denied release in death, first by her own incompetence and now by her best friend. The Pop Idol yelled up at Utena, cursing her despite everything that was going on around them. Aminee was too far gone to be thinking straight so she was at the whim of her pain, and her pain said to end it; end it all. "Please let me die!"

[Kara]

In the midst of Ranko's attack, Kara made a duplicate of herself that was now closing the demon portal during the distraction. The Netherrealm field advantage and the infinite supply of numbers on Ranko's side was cut off as soon as the entrance was sealed, leaving the destruction of the remaining forces all that remained from freeing Moon Valley from this terrible nightmare. The Kara Ranko was attacking rejoined with the one that closed the portal before the Goddess of Jherra crashed into the Crimson Devil with a series of devastating punches and kicks.

[Bee]

Anderson continued his advance forward, and when the energy crashed into him it had only hit the barriers the pages put up. The smoke had allowed him a series of bayonets to get past the defenses of Saibot.

[Sparda]

Within his helmet, Demetrios frowned confusedly, watching his massive blade pass harmlessly through the sorcerer's body somehow.

He phased through it, echoed Asmodion's cool voice within his mind. The Ajerian watched his every move, an observer within his soul, offering advice from a differing perspective to the demon's. It often proved invaluable. Take him by surprise.

Demetrios gave no outward sign of acknowledging this, merely narrowing his eyes as he glanced about at the advancing soldiers... Then they exploded. The area around he and Quan Chi was enveloped in dust and flames as blast after blast engulfed the warrior - until he picked his moment and burst from the smoke, blade angled horizontally as he rushed forwards into a lunging straight aimed at Quan Chi's centre of mass.

All the while, he'd been absorbing the kinetic and thermal energy from the explosions as they struck him, buffering the blasts and mitigating the damage they would have dealt. They had provided the perfect cover for a surprise attack; and now, the Ajerian bore down upon Quan Chi once again, moving with lightning speed as his sword lanced out, the pressure of the energy he'd been charging erupting forwards from the unearthly steel in an explosion of force.

[Ayen]

The portal was sealed shut, the field advantage was lost and the infinite army became finite as they were cut off from the Netherrealm. But as the Crimson Devil began parrying the blows of the Woman of Steel with Kasul, the two armies would see something opening up in the air. Something that appeared as clean cuts across human flesh, and they all led to a terrible place.

Hell.

Since the beginning Ranko has been cutting through the dimensional barriers to her own realm with Kasul, creating several new points of entry for her army to exploit later and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. If Superwoman persisted on closing them all then Ranko would open more.

“You gave me the time, Superwoman.”

Another explosion of slashes erupted, this one meant to create distance between herself and the goddess.

“You can't stop us.”

She raised the tip of Kasul towards the goddess as she took a step forward.

“No one can.”

[Kragen]

Scorpion shielded his eyes from the dirt with his arm and grabbed the chain, pulling Sailor V towards him and then launching her into the air via uppercut.
