"Until we meet again."
Tori sighed, there was just no reasoning with some people. She let the girl go and then drifted up through the ceiling up above and peaked her head up into the loft where Kara and Utena were.
“Is it safe if I come up?”
The last thing Tori wanted was to set Utena off again.

Utena nodded, the urge to hurt others have completely gone away and she was feeling much calmer now thanks to the conversation with Kara. She jumped a little when Tori appeared but that was because she popped her head up through the floor of the loft, not because she looked identical to her. "It is. I would actually like a chance to speak with you, if you have a minute."

Kara smiled, happy to hear that Utena was ready to talk with Tori now. Leaving them to talk things out, she flew out of the window of the loft and over to where her parents were. Landing down on the ground, her feet firmly planted as she waited for her parents to back out to get the rest of the groceries and when they did, Kara ran into their arms for the tearful reunion.

"It is. I would actually like a chance to speak with you, if you have a minute."
“I have all the time in the world.”
One of the many benefits, if they can be called such, to being dead. Tori looked out the window of the loft and smiled when she saw Kara embrace her parents in a hug. It made her long for her body as she wanted nothing more in the world than to hug her friends and family close to her again and never let them go.
“What did you want to talk about?”
Tori asked, returning her attention to Utena.

Even though she was calmer now it was still difficult for Utena to look Tori in the eye due to them being so identical, so she looked at the floor hoping Tori wouldn't be offended by her lack of eye-contact when she spoke. "First of all, I want to apologize about before. I was wrong. I'm sorry." Though she knew an apology didn't count for much she hoped Tori would accept it regardless. "I would like to get to know you better, if possible. See if we have anything in common. Do you enjoy fencing?"

“Don't mention it. You weren't yourself.”
"I would like to get to know you better, if possible. See if we have anything in common. Do you enjoy fencing?"
“Never tried it. My primarily sport is basketball with some baseball on the side. I play in my school's basketball team. Well, played... I'm hoping to be able to get back to it among other things once I have my body back.”

"Oh?" That was one thing they have in common. Utena had played basketball in the past during her time in Ohtori but not that much of it. She was a bit too preoccupied with other things that was going on in that school to do much in the basketball department. "Me too. Which position do you play?"

"Oh?"
Tori nodded.
"Me too. Which position do you play?"
“Point Guard. My friend Lily plays Shooting Guard. You?”

"Small Forward." Utena stood up from the couch and started to stretch, stretching being something she did whenever she became nervous. And it was hard not to be nervous given everything that happened leading up to this conversation. It made her feel awkward. "Maybe when you get your body back we could play a game."

"Small Forward. Maybe when you get your body back we could play a game."
“I'd like that. I have a hoop in my backyard so we could play there.”
For Tori it's been a while since she had a good game of one on one with someone at basketball. It would be a good test of her body when she was rejoined with it.
If she was rejoined with it.
“What other sports do you play?”

"Just Tennis." Utena stopped stretching and looked outside the window to where Kara was rejoined with her family after being officially dead for a couple of days, though to them it no doubt felt like a life time. Remembering that Tori was still halfway on the other side herself as a spirit she turned to her with the question she really wanted to ask. "What's it like on the other side?"

"Just Tennis."
“Never played that myself.”
"What's it like on the other side?"
“Cold.”
And she meant that literally.
“It was like being in the middle of a blizzard in a frozen wasteland, with monsters. Pretty much the last thing you would have imagined the afterlife to be but to be fair we were only in what I presume to be limbo. We saw neither paradise nor damnation during our brief time there.”

Well, Utena couldn't say she expected that kind of answer from Tori. It sounded like something straight out of a comic book and that was unsettling. "I guess none of the religions got it right then, huh?" Unless there was a religion here in Genesis that claimed the afterlife is a frozen wasteland where monster chase you.

"I guess none of the religions got it right then, huh?"
“They all got it right when you think about it.”
Thanks to the known alternate realities in existence that meant that every religion in existence was both right and wrong about what the afterlife was like, because every single afterlife and then some would be co-existing in different dimensions. That said, religion itself was still one giant gamble where your soul was concerned. Assuming there aren't any universes where souls doesn't exist.
“But in Genesis? Not so much.”

"How about yourself?" asked Utena as she folded her arms in front of her chest and looked at Tori. "Did what you see shatter any of your beliefs or was it pretty much as you expected?" Utena wouldn't know herself as she never thought in great detail what life would be after death. She just always believed that there was something waiting for them on the other side, something that the living could never understand until they were dead.
