It was finally over. The battle for the Downward Spiral between Kari and Jherrazad waged on for longer than any of them cared to keep track of. The Empire was starting to win the battle with the superior number and magic behind them, their equipment not ready to be used at the time of the attack until Utopia warriors came and helped Kari drive out the enemy forces. Forcing the Empress and her people back. They had avoided losing their nation a second time and Kain owed more thanks than he personally felt comfortable with. But this was life, war. Kain would do what he must. "All right!" Kain yelled out to the people surrounding him. "We rest here. Tonight we will change shifts to make sure everyone get a good night's rest. In the morning we go back to the refugee camp and move the rest here. Kari is ours once again!"After the speech to his men he turned to those among them who, if not for them, this victory never would have been possible. "Thank you." |

"No thanks necessary, Kain."
Gabrielle walked up to him, a hand on the back of her neck, cracking it slightly as she looked around the crowd mixed with Kari and Utopia soldiers. The Utopians staying in the back and not interacting much with the others as Kain spoke. She was curious to learn more about them at some point, and where they came from but for now Kari was still in need of being set up and that wouldn't happen overnight. There was always the chance that Jherrazad would be back with reinforcements and then there's the matter of the red sky up above.
"I don't suppose any of you have any idea why the sky has changed red?"

Spoke up Sincara from the right of Gabrielle and Kain's position. She made a point not to venture too close to the Utopian soldiers on site. Finding their presence here a necessary evil as they had no other way to force back the Empire otherwise.
"If we don't find a way to close the seal back in Moon Valley we won't have a world for Kari to thrive in."

The Demon Assassin Eva, recently renamed Edie, led the group of Utopian soldiers and agents and was currently chowing down on a chocolate chip cookie while the leader of the Kari's army was speaking to what little troops he had left. Among the Utopians beside Edie was Jill Valentine, Ra Constantine, Jenesis and Lemara. Luca Valentine regrettably couldn't make it and the Ranko doppelganger was kept out of the party for obvious reasons. Zora remained close to Gabrielle, still shaken up after the battle for Kari that nearly cost the young witch her life.

“I have a hunch.”
"The demon world has merged with the human world."
And Sincara confirmed it. Edie still remembered what happened the last time the demon seal was opened in Moon Valley and how it affected the world around them. It took Superwoman sacrificing her life to give them a chance to seal it up that time and something told the Demon Assassin it would take more lives to close it up a second time.
"If we don't find a way to close the seal back in Moon Valley we won't have a world for Kari to thrive in."
“W-what are you talking about?” asked Zora. “What do you mean the demon world has merged with the human world?”
“It means...”
Edie took another bite out of her cookie, making a point to chew and swallow her food before continuing.

"Someone opened the demon seal?" Kain couldn't believe his ears. To think that somebody in this world would be so foolish. They may have very well killed them all with such an action. Kain looked over to Edie who appeared to be far more calm than one would expect anyone to be in this situation. "If this world merges with hell and a demon army is on the move that means trouble for Utopia as well. We need to get into Moon Valley which I've no doubt is surrounded by demons by now and I don't have the numbers on my side. What of Utopia?"

"You want to watch the language?" Gabrielle said to Edie. "She's just a kid."
Gabrielle still wasn't sure what to make of the Utopian people around them. She was grateful for the help but there was something about them that made her weary of being around them. And as such she made a point of keeping Zora close to her. The witch has already seen more battle and bloodshed than she should have because of her and Gabrielle would never forgive herself if she ended up dead for tagging along.

"No. Superwoman already removed the people who wanted the seal opened in the first place. My guess is whoever's leading this demon army managed to break through the seal from the inside. Meaning it'll take more to close it up for good."
It was quite ingenious actually. Sincara could only wonder who the leader of the demon army would be and how they managed to finally break through the seal separating them from Genesis for so long.

Kain shook his head. "I disagree. The longer we allow that seal to go unattended the longer we allow this demon army to grow in power. We must act now to close the seal before it gets that far." The only question was how. Obviously they couldn't take them head on, perhaps they could sneak their way through. "A small infiltration team may be enough to do the trick and would attract less attention than a large group." |

It was like the woman honestly couldn't care less about what was happening around them. The entire world was in danger, Zora was scared out of her mind and they were being pulled from one life or death situation straight into another life or death situation. She's been in plenty of those herself so it was beyond her how anyone could take such things likely if they weren't a god.

Sincara paid no attention to the back and forth arguing of Edie and Gabrielle and kept her attention on Kain regarding the demon army that she believed would make their way here before long. If they managed to get control of the tower to boot then there would be trouble. Big trouble.

"Then you will stay here and help guard Kari." Kain looked back to Sincara and contemplated who he wanted to send to Moon Valley for a moment before answering. "You and Gabrielle, I think, would be best suited for the task. And whoever Edie wants to send with you from Utopia. I will stay here with the others." Kain looked to Zora. "So will she."

Gabrielle dismissed Edie and looked back over to Kain. Glad to see that he was also thinking about Zora's welfare and didn't expect her to go after a band of demons so soon after what happened here. However Gabrielle didn't feel right about leaving and wanted to make sure the witch would be okay. Getting down on one knee, Gabrielle placed a hand on Zora's shoulder and looked her in the eye.
"Are you going to be okay if I'm away?"
