I've failed them. I've left them without a hero.I've failed them. Superwoman stood in the middle of a snow storm. There was no sun in the sky. Just clouds from which the snow fell. She extended her right hand to touch the snow. It felt real, it felt alive, but she knew better. She wasn't alive. This wasn't the Crystal Expanse, Moon Valley, or anywhere on Jherra or Genesis. She was dead and there was no god. She was alone with no one to comfort her, nor did she believe she deserved to be comforted. Superwoman, despite defeating Doomsday, deemed herself a failure, a failure for leaving her world without a hero to defend it, a failure doomed to wander a blizzard for all eternity. Alone.[/color]

Tori pulled her face out of the snow--- wait, snow? A puzzled Tori looked up to the sky to see nothing but clouds sending down snow on what looked to be a frozen wasteland, only this frozen wasteland looked nothing like the Crystal Expanse from her world. What did that mean? Tori scratched the back of her head, trying to remember the last thing that happened before waking up. She was at a funeral... a funeral for---
“Kara!”
Tori's emerald green eyes lit up in pure joy as she saw her friend down the path of snow, running towards Kara and throwing her arms around her to embrace her in a hug. Tears of happiness falling from her cheeks as she was happy beyond words to see her friend again.
“You're alive! I can't believe it. You're really alive!”
Releasing her grip on Kara, Tori took a step back and that smile on her face quickly turned into one of curiosity and worry as Kara didn't seem like herself.
“What's wrong? And where are we? Last I remember I was in Moon Valley attending your funeral.”

"Tori?" Kara turned her head to see a figure fast-approaching. No. It couldn't be her. Tori was among the living, she the dead. But as the figure became clearer, horror quickly grew in Kara's eyes as the terrible realization kicked in. "No!" Tori was dead, just like her, and she had no idea. Tori embraced her but Kara was still in too much shock to hug back. As soon as Tori pulled away, Kara placed her hands on Tori's arms and looked at her urgently. "Tori, you can't be here! We have to get you back! Straight away!"

“What? Why?”
Tori was confused. Why couldn't she stay? What was this place? Why was Kara here and not back home where she belonged? How did they get here? Tori was still jogging her brain trying to figure out the last thing that happened before waking up but it just wasn't coming to her. Pulling away from Kara's touch, as inviting as it was, Tori had to question her and find out everything she could.
“Kara, what is this place? Where are we? Answer me!”

Kara looked towards Tori with sadness in her eyes and sorrow filling up her heart. She knew the words that would inevitably part her lips for Tori's ears but they were words that Kara never wanted to utter. If it was within her power to do so she would send Tori back with no memory of this event but that was one thing Superwoman couldn't do. It made her feel just as powerless as she felt when she failed to defend Moon Valley against Doomsday. Even after death, Kara felt the anguish that came with being worthless.
"Tori...." There was no easy way to say this so she might as well just come out with it. Kara honestly wished she was back in Moon Valley fighting Doomsday as what that monster could do to her body was nothing compared to the pain she felt in her heart for her best friend. To Kara, there was no greater punishment than having to say to her best friend what she was about to say. "You're dead."

Tori felt weird, like someone had just knocked the winds out of her sails. Then she came to realize that she has fallen to the ground. The shock from it all made it too hard for Tori to stand. Now she knew why people always recommended for you to sit down before receiving bad news.
“No. No. I can't be dead. I don't feel dead.”
Denial, it hit her like a brick. She slowly got back up to her feet grabbing a hold of Kara to help her do it. Trying desperately to remember where she was and what she were doing before coming here. That would prove once and for all that she wasn't dead.
“I was... I was at your funeral. And then--- and then... I...”
No matter how hard she tried Tori just couldn't remember.

She watched her fall, heart shattered into a million pieces at the sight of seeing the woman she loved dead and in such a blatant state of denial. Not that Kara could blame her in that aspect. It took her some time to accept that she was dead as well. That she was a failure neither worried of paradise nor eternal suffering. Just a wanderer destined to travel aimlessly between salvation and damnation. Kara hugged Tori tightly when she stood back up to her feet, quietly weeping while her lips reached Tori's ear to whisper into it. "I'm sorry, Tori. I failed you, I failed Moon Valley, I failed everyone and now because of that you're dead."
Releasing her hold on Tori, the Woman of Steel turned around and stared down at her feet, too ashamed to look Tori in the eye any longer. "Take it from me. The sooner you accept the fact you're dead the better. Follow the light of the sun, the light of salvation. Don't venture into the darkness and don't follow me. Farewell, Tori." And with that Kara said goodbye to her friend for a second time as she walked off into the never-ending blizzard.

Tori couldn't believe what she was hearing while wrapped in Kara's warm embrace. How could she say those things about herself? What happened to the young always optimistic about everything Kara that Tori has come to love like a sister? No, this couldn't be happening. This couldn't be real and if it was Tori would not stand for it! Grabbing Kara's by the shoulder she spun her around and placed both hands on her arms while looking her straight in the eye.
“Kara, listen to me. You need to snap out of it! You didn't fail me and you didn't fail Moon Valley. If it weren't for you more people would be dead right now because of that hellish beast. Do you understand me? You saved me. You saved us.”
While she was giving the pep talk memories started to float back to her. Memories of the funeral, of what happened during the service. Memories of that gray monster eyes lighting up and blasting her to kingdom come. Her face froze and then a sense of urgency filled up her emerald green eyes as her grip on Kara tightened.
“And Moon Valley needs you again! There's another monster attacking Moon Valley. Gray skin, red eyes. He's the one that killed me! Your body is still on Genesis so we have to get you back this instant!”

Kara was forced back around by Tori and again took a glance into those beautiful emerald green eyes that still managed to take her breath away, even in death. But the more Tori spoke the larger the already existing frown grew on Superwoman's face as she broke eye contact with her friend. "You don't get how this works." Kara slipped out of Tori's gradually increasing tight grip. "There is no going back. You have the light, dark or the road between. Choose one."

Tori felt herself growing angry; angry at her situation, Kara and Kara's behavior. The redhead would have slapped the blond if it weren't for the fact it'd do more damage to her own hand than anything else. She would have to settle for another means to snap someone back to their senses. Yelling.
“What the hell has gotten into you!? What happened to the woman who was optimist about everything? The woman who believed there was always a way even when the odds were against her and everyone else around her had given up hope!? And don't tell me that woman is dead because I refuse to believe that! Now you talked about getting me back not two minutes ago. That says to me there's a way back to your body and that's exactly where we're going, do you understand me?”

By the time Tori finished, a look of confusion had overtook Kara's face like she had no idea what Tori was talking about. Like she was just shooting off at the mouth looking for any reason to cling onto life even if it was just made up on the fly. It was sad yet at the same time Kara couldn't blame Tori for wanting to hold on to life so badly. That what she did when she first got here and it took some time to accept it. They were both stubborn people by the looks of it. "Tori, I never said anything like that. I just told you there was no going back. Why would I lie?"

“Y-you can't be serious.”
Tori didn't want to believe this was happening. That Superwoman was possibly beyond saving at this point. How could she forget about something so critical in such a short amount of time? The more she thought about it though the more she realized that Kara wouldn't lie to her. But that also didn't mean that what Tori heard didn't happen and if both theories were correct then that could only lead to one conclusion.
“Something is making you forget! Something that doesn't want you to leave. It must not be affecting me either because I just died or I've yet to accept my death.”
Yes! That had to be it but that left one question remaining. How to jog Kara's memory. Perhaps if she put enough shock into her system it would be enough to help Kara to remember but what on Genesis could she do that would shock Kara just enough to get her memories back?
“That's it!”
Without any prior warning Tori pulled Kara in close, cupped her face with her hands and then kissed her on the lips.

Kara opened her mouth to speak but that was when it was claimed by Tori's. Her eyes grew so wide from the shock of it all that you'd swear they were about ready to fall out from her sockets. The lips that's grown cold over what felt like centuries of wandering aimlessly in the cold became warm at the gentle touch of her best friend's lips, the woman she loved. Those blue eyes of the Woman of Steel closed and she surrendered to the pleasure Tori's lips were giving her, not aware that it was only meant to jog her memory of how to escape. But Tori had in fact awakened so much more.
Kara wrapped her arms around Tori as she kissed her back passionately. Tori would be able to feel the strong romantic feelings that her friend has had for her all this time in the form of a single act of intimacy. She didn't want this moment to end. She didn't want the warmth of Tori to leave her as she kept her close, refusing to let go no matter what. This was well worth refusing heaven and resisting hell. For Kara this was her eternal bliss: to be with Tori for all eternity.

It was Tori's turn to be shocked as Kara kissed her back passionately on the lips. Pushing her hands against Kara's shoulders, Tori pulled herself away breaking the kiss. There was so much love and passion put into that one kiss that there was no denying the feelings Kara had for her but she had to focus on getting her out of here.
“Kara, listen to me. Do you remember how to get back to Genesis?”

"Wh-what?" It was starting to come back to her. The way out of here. This place wanted you to forget, to accept that you were dead so you wouldn't try to return to life. She didn't fully understand it herself but why question it when you want to live? Turning to the left, Kara pointed in that direction and then began leading Tori that way. "It's this way. Once we're close we can-" Suddenly the ground began to shake and breaking up through the ice was a giant ice worm that released a loud screech and looked to block their path to the land of the living.
