“We are live on the site of Moon Valley in the aftermath of what was one of the most brutal attacks since the destruction of Aircano. Just 24 hours ago a mysterious seal was opened and unleashed a hideous beast that threatened to destroy everything in its path. Though the seal was closed and the beast defeated last night's hectic confrontation would end in tragedy. Superwoman is dead.”
The new report heard around the world came to an end as every man, woman and child in Moon Valley gathered together in hushed silence at the center of the city-state. In-between the large crowd and the crumbled City Hall building was a stand, and in front of that stand was a casket covered in the torn red cape of Superwoman as her body resided inside of it.
Near the front of the crowd, still unknown to the world, were Superwoman closest friends. Tori was being held by her mother, wrapped around in a towel as tears continued to stream down her cheeks and she was too much of a nervous wreck to say or do anything. Her parents didn't even want her out there but she protested through the tears that never stopped falling since she was found in the desert. How could they refuse?
When Carari Grey was seen coming up on stage escorted by Lt. Gordon and a couple other Moon Valley officers, she were booed by many of the people that has assembled there. Hated for her open opposition against Superwoman and blamed for the hell that Moon Valley has gone through since being elected. Ignoring the boos, Carari Grey stepped up the mic and began to speak.
“I would like to thank each and every single one of you for coming here today to show your love and support for our fallen hero. I am sure many of you are groaning to yourselves for my saying “our” as I was not, and never was, a supporter of Superwoman's activities here in Moon Valley and around the world and I will not lie to you all and claim that I am one now.”
“She saved your life!” yelled out someone from the crowd. Stopping Carari's speech dead as she could plainly see the glares from the people in the audience.
“But I never wished death upon her, not once. I have made many, many mistakes since coming into office that I plan to work to correct and had it not been for Superwoman I, and many others, would not be standing here today. Despite my open campaign to have her arrested for taking the law into her own hands she sacrificed her own life so that I could live. This turn out and the cries heard all around the world proves the impact that Superwoman has had during her short, bittersweet time here with us and she will never be forgotten, nor should she ever be forgotten.”
The boos aimed toward Carari stopped and the audience attention went to the casket, forgetting their hatred towards the mayor for one moment to remember the woman that fought and died to protect them from the threat dubbed “Doomsday.”
“May the world never forget Superwoman.”

Utena was one of many people standing out in the crowd but one of few who knew the woman behind the symbol. She could remember the first time they spoke on the bus stop in this very city, back when neither of them knew anything about the other. Before the Woman of Steel started appearing in headline after headline in various newspapers. Utena found out who she was after the incident at Razor's Edge, where the Angel of Death requested all of their assistance in a matter of ultmost importance. It was hard to believe that that same cheery woman with a smile always on her face was gone. It filled her heart up with guilt when remembering all the things she done to her while she was still around.
If she felt this bad for a woman she barely knew then she couldn't imagine how bad June and rest that knew her longer and better felt now. Her eyes looked up to Carari Grey, remembering that voice as the one who once demanded they yield to Isafaro's authority. It looked like one bad decision after another has finally caught up with her. With Superwoman out of the way who would protect her from harm now? Better yet, who would protect this city from those that wished its destruction? Isafaro? Somehow, Utena doubted that very much.

The joyride was finally over. Superwoman was no more. Bruno Mannheim, leader of Intergang, watched the funeral unfold near the back of the large crowd gathered around the destroyed City Hall. Although they've failed to eliminate the guardian of the seal it mattered very little in the end. Carari Grey was unable to keep it protected alive and there was now no reason to kill her. She would fizzle out on her own over time. Bruno took a good look around all the carnage, to think just one demon did all of this, it was astounding. And exactly what his master back on Apokolips has foreseen. Soon all of Moon Valley would bow to their new god, or truly perish.

Chloe stood a couple of lines back from the front of the crowd, looking over to see the war-torn cape of Superwoman being used to cover her own casket. She knew Carari Grey was full of shit but that wasn't important right now. The vampiress was here to honor an acquaintance lost in combat. Even though they barely knew each other they did stand for mostly the very same things and there was a mutual respect there. Chloe picked up on something that stank and her eyes went over to Bruno for a moment before returning to the service, brushing it off as just part of her imagination. Or the fact someone in the crowd didn't take a shower for the past couple of weeks.

Another tragedy in the world of Genesis.
Sincara removed the hat from her head and brought it up to her heart out of respect for the fallen hero.
Though she was successful in defeating Doomsday the effort was enough to take her life, costing this world one of its last defenders that actually belonged to the world they were defending and weren't responsible for a string of disasters caused by their own incompetence. Superwoman was far from the ideal hero but she was an effective one.
As the weeping of the crowd continued amidst the heartfelt speech by the mayor, Sincara looked up to Carari Grey with a look of suspicion on her face. She didn't trust the woman, a lot of people didn't but Sincara's main problem was the amount of evidence starting to pile up that Carari Grey was a foreigner to this land and if that was true,
then the situation in Genesis was worst than she feared.

Aminee stood next to Chloe in the crowd for the live funeral. Even though she didn't know Kara for long they had bonded over their previous adventure and the Pop Idol wouldn't have been able to sleep at night had she not attended this. It was amazing how many people were here to mourn the lost of their hero. She knew Kara was a big deal under the alias Superwoman but never knew just how big she was until this moment. It made her wonder if people back home were mourning her now like this. Did she even matter that much? Looking over to Chloe, Aminee spotted the man she took a glimpse at before looking back to the vampire. "Who's that?"

[Moving Ariel to this account] A funeral; just the word sounded so morbid to the mermaid with her innocent views and the look on Tori's face when she returned home was enough for her to realize it wasn't good. In the sea there were rituals to honor one's passing but they always turned to foam--a body was left to be buried and it didn't turn into earth.
Ariel didn't understand any of this. Why was the body put into a box? Where were they taking this hero? Was this her whole family? She didn't ask these questions aloud out of fear of upsetting her human friend but she just could't grasp all of this. The sorrow was far too easy to give into.
The mermaid felt a heaviness in her chest at the sight of Tori so upset at the loss of Superwoman. While she didn't know Kara personally, Tori spoke very highly of her, and they were close. Really close.
For once, Ariel was speechless, and watched everything around her. So, this is what happens at the end of a human life...?

Tori looked over to Ariel, feeling bad that she had to see all of this. It wasn't exactly the ideal way Tori had in mind to show the mermaid what things were like in the human world but it was an unfortunate part of it she would have ran into sooner or later. Tori only wished she could have eased Ariel into it instead of it coming at her so abruptly. But death just didn't work that way at all. Tori reached out for Ariel's hand and pulled her close, opening up her blanket for Ariel to join her. Tori's way to provide the mermaid with some comfort as the sorrow started to consume her heart as well. Smiling weakly at the girl, she whispered.
“I'm glad you decided to come.”

As a world allowed sorrow to fill their hearts a great darkness would soon surround them as a large unknown object was descending upon them. Panic began to spread through the crowd once the object got close enough to be seen as a planet in the sky which was now blocking the light of both suns. People were running and screaming while Apokolips hung them. Another object, much smaller than that of the planet, could be seen racing ahead of it. As it got closer the object was revealed to be a person and that person.... Was Darkseid. He landed in front of the coffin of Superwoman and began to speak to all those watching at home. "People of Genesis, as you see directly above you my home of Apokolips descends upon your world. If you wish to live then surrender yourself to me. Otherwise my planet will destroy yours. The choice is up to you."There was nothing but silence from the people who had stopped running in awe of the thing that spoke to them. Darkseid turned around to face Superwoman's coffin, lifting open the lid and looking to the beaten corpse, compliments of the demon Doomsday. "Rest in peace, Zor-El."

One second there was nothing but dead silence and the next there was screaming and running. While the rest of her friends and family started to hightail it, Tori only got closer to the large object descending from the sky. Mayor Carari Grey was quickly escorted away from stage and then a large alien landed down right in front of Kara's body and spoke. His voice was enough to send chills up Tori's spine and make her hair stand on end. The cries of her family and friends grew more faint as all the blood started rushing to her head. This alien had dared to open up the casket and mess with Kara. Without thinking Tori took a step forward and yelled out at the beast.
“Stay away from her! STAY AWAY FROM HER!”

"You're my friend. Why wouldn't I be here?" Ariel offered a weak smile to Tori. She wished she knew how to make her feel better, or at least understood what was going on and how, but once again her naive nature stood in the way. The mermaid adjusted the umbrella she held before she sat down next to Tori. It was imperative she made sure that her legs didn't get soaked otherwise she may sprout a fin and Tori advised her to be careful about that.
Then, Darkseid descended onto the already tense scene.
People were screaming, running, hiding, barreling over each other--anything to escape the threat that had descended without a hero to save the day. Ariel was, for the first time in her life, terrified. What was so bad about this? Who was that frightening looking man? "Tori!" Ariel shot up from her seat and grabbed her arm with a free hand. "Wh-What is that? Wh-Why is he looking at Superwoman's body?"

Tori and Ariel would hear the sound of the coffin lid slamming shut as Darkseid released his grip on the lid. The monster of a man, a god, slowly began to turn his body around. A flash of red threatened to blind the vision of Tori and Ariel as his already red eyes grew brighter in intensity, then the screams as his Omega Beams shot forth from his eyes to obliterate the women that stood before him.

Tori had to shield her eyes to make anything out after the red flashes of light. Seeing what the man was about to do Tori was quick to push Ariel out of the way, taking the full blast of the Omega Beam herself. The screams would be from that of her parents as they watched helplessly as their little girl was rendered into a pile of ash as the first of many Omega Beams were fired.
Shinta ran towards Ariel, despite his parents wishes, and quickly helped her up to her feet.
“Don't look back. Whatever you do, don't look back.”
Shinta said as he led Ariel back to his family in a run.

"I'm not sure," replied Chloe to Aminee, "but he's giving me a bad vibe." And the moments to past were to be full of bad vibes. Her eyes shot up to the planet that was descending upon them and then the unknown being that came down threatening to end them all if they didn't abide by his wishes. Just great. Chloe picked up the scent of Utena and looked back to Aminee. "Grab Utena and get out of here!" Chloe would turn, just in time to see a girl rendered to ashes as already the first strike was sent. Sheathing Kasul, the vampiress charged Darkseid and swung at him with a fury of slashes.

Th-that girl. She looked like Utena. That monster killed a girl who looked like her. But why? Why? Utena raised her Rapier and charged at Darkseid after Chloe, before Aminee or anyone else that was her friend would have the chance to snatch her away. She couldn't explain it herself but she had to make this thing pay. Pay for killing her-- that girl-- her. Pay. Utena's mind was fading away as she got nearer and aimed the tip of the Rapier for Darkseid's chest.
