Inuyasha
Aliases: None
Age:Unknown, but he is estimated to be around 200 years old; but he appears to be 17 or 18.
Gender: Male
Species: Half-Demon
Alignment: Neutral
Canon or Original: Canon
Date of Birth: Roughly around November 9, 1296
Place of Birth: Japan
Appearance(s):
Normal:
Inuyasha is a young man with almost waist-length silver hair;
which becomes black when he transforms into a human on the
new moon. His eyes are golden colored, and become brown
when human. He has a pair of white dog ears; however, they appear to look more like cat ears. He wears a sort of priest's robe relevant to the time period in Japan. It is a deep red color, with slits in the forearms to allow still more freedom of movement. Supposedly, it was made from a legendary "fire rat's fur", gifting this young half-demon with immunity to flames. He walks around barefoot. Why? because he feels like it. XD His fingers and toes have small, razor-sharp claws which can cut through many things; as demonstrated by his special demon abilities. Around his neck, he unwillingly wears a purple-beaded necklace; which also has small, fang-like beads on it. It is an enchanted necklace which places him at a human's level, maybe even lower, at Kagome's command. Try as he might, he cannot remove it. It was forced on him by Kaede, Kikyo's sister.
Fire Rat Fur Kimono:
This is a unique thing specifically set for Inuyasha in the series. Basically, it's like really light, really strong armor. It is entirely flame proof; and highly resistant to wear, tear, slashing, bludgeoning, and bullets. Normally, this thing would end up making him close in invincible. So I will be changing this a bit here. It is still immune to fire, whether you hit his skin or kimono. But the kimono isn't full proof. Close combat, high power attacks can break through and tear the outfit; making Inuyasha have to fix it up whenever he gets a chance. Also, bullets, from long range, will be deflected; unless they hit an unprotected part of his body (such as the face, hands, and feet.). Close-range bullet shot will have no problem going through the kimono.
Human:
On the night of the full moon, his demon powers desert him;
leaving him vulnerable and physically incapable of performing
many feats. The hair turns black, and the golden eyes go brown.
His claws retract into normal human nails, and he loses the
astonishing strength in his legs that make him able to leap long
distances and run quickly when in half-demon form. The ears that
distinguish him from being a normal human as a half-demon also
disappear; replaced by human ears at the sides of his head. The
enhanced senses of smell and hearing fade. It is during these
times that he is most vulnerable; preferring to hide somewhere
until the night is over so that he can return to normal. Also,
during these times; he becomes more bad-tempered, not
appreciating his own weaknesses.
Demon:
As Inuyasha is only a half demon, on rare occasions in which he is in a desperate situation; he is forced to transform into his demon form. But due to the fact his half-demon body cannot suppress the demon blood, he loses control of himself, and all memory of what his real reason for fighting vanishes. In this form, the golden eyes turn into a crimson color. Purple tattoos appear under his eyes, markings that look almost like scars. His fangs grow longer, as do his claws. His strength rises to the level of a full demon, as does his speed. This transformation takes place when he is cornered in a battle, and is in danger of inevitable death. The Tetsusaiga has the power to keep the demon blood at bay, but if he isn't holding the sword; then there is nothing to prevent the transformation. In this form, he becomes feral; fighting solely for survival. He fights to shed blood, to kill; and has no knowledge of what he's doing. He feels pain, yet ignores it completely and keeps attacking; no matter what physical state he's in. He would fight until one of two things occurred... Injuries so great that it's physically impossible for him to continue, or his own death. In this state, he goes entirely on the offense, attacking with brute strength and not bothering to defend himself; leaving him wide open for any attack. He fights strictly with his claws, as there would be no Tetsusaiga nearby for him to pick up. Should he get his hands on the Tetsusaiga at some point, his demon form is suppressed by the ancient blade, making him return to normal.
This form is in itself a weakness, one that Inuyasha fears above all. After previous transformations in which he caused complete destruction, the half-demon became paranoid of the hidden form. He didn't want to be a complete monster, and he feared what the change did to him. Inuyasha is only too well aware of what could happen should he change with his friends around, those friends will likely become his next victims in his demon's blood lust. The more this transformation takes place, the less likely he is to be able to change back. In the past, he was lucky enough to have Kagome nearby to force him into resuming his half-demon form before he killed himself. But every time, it was more difficult for him to revert. It is that very reason that adds on to his paranoia of the transformation.
This danger to himself and his friends has made him reluctant to ever release his hold on the Tetsusaiga, which is why he is never seen without it; unless it is forced away from him. Should he take this form in a roleplay, the best idea is to somehow get the Tetsusaiga back to him.
Personality:
Inuyasha is a quick tempered young man, lashing out with both
words and actions with upset. He trusts few, and acts as if he
couldn't care less about the others. That makes him a guy that's
hard to put up with to his friends, though they persevere.
However, Inuyasha makes it clear in his constant fighting for him
friends and allies that he doesn't hate them, and that helps them
group get along. The others tend to disregard Inuyasha's
snappish attitude. But when meeting new people, he usually
creates a bad first appearance. Irritable and often rude, he
doesn't think before speaking when meeting new people.
When it comes to a fight, he turns into a powerful foe, fighting
with sword and claw. Full of surprises to his enemies, he fights
nonstop. If Kagome gets involved, he usually turns on her and
yells about why she was putting herself in danger after the
conflict; even if he was the one who would have lost had the
others not interfered. He doesn't like weakness, and that leads
to his stubborn pursuit of his dream; to become a full demon. But
once he became exposed to the demon side of his blood, he
began to grow fearful, and isn't sure what he wants to do
anymore.
He is also confused, not sure who to love; Kikyo or Kagome. kikyo
betrayed him, and Kagome looks just like her. These confused
feelings often make him short-tempered, and even harder to deal
with. He disapproves of his own confused feelings, but he can't
figure out how to handle such a situation. He doesn't work well
under stress, making careless errors and running blindly into
dangerous situations.
Weapon Abilities:
Weapon of Choice:
Tetsusaiga: A special sword made by swordsmith Totosai
created the Tetsusaiga from a fang of the Daiyokai the Great Dog
Demon, the father of Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. The Tetsusaiga
will only transform if the user cares for humans and has yoki, this
means that humans can never wield it because they do not
possess yoki.
Sword Skills:
Katana Form:
(see above image for katana form)
- Anti-demon barrier~ Inuyasha and Sesshomaru's father put a
protective aura (barrier) which makes full yƓkai unable to touch it.
(There have been times where demons have picked it up like
Shippo, who held Tetsusaiga and received no punishment from
it's barrier. It is possible that it can also be held by those the
Tetsusaiga trusts.) - Human Shield~ The Tetsusaiga protects humans holding it from
harm.
True Form:
- Kenatsu~ This is the special ability that allows the
Tetsusaiga to cut opponents without touching them, surrounding
the blade in youki. Inuyasha learns of this ability once he
learns the Kaze no Kizu (Wind Scar). - Wind Scar~ A special attack that can literally kill one
hundred demons with one single strike, and does not need to
connect with the opponent(s) to hit. - Backlash Wave~ Uses the opponent's own strong youki
and the Wind Scar to return the attack, power of counterattack is
intensified. - Red Tetsusaiga~ One of some skills gained when the sword destroyed a particularly strong demon in the episodes; Red Tetsusaiga is a barrier-shattering ability. When in use, the blade color becomes red; it can either be used directly to cut throught most barriers and shields, or joined with Wind Scar or Backlash Wave to reach barriers and shields that are at long distance. Red Tetsusaiga can cut through most shields an dbarriers, exposing the target within. But shields conjured up by a powerful foe can deflect the sword. Note: As an addition specifically to avoid too much power, Tetsusaiga will be forced to revert to its katana form if Red Tetsusaiga is deflected.
- Adamant Barrage~ An incredibly hard rock from Inuyasha's world is called Adamantine. It is the equivalent to the hardness of diamonds. When using this attack, the Tetsusaiga transforms into a blade made of adamantine, and Adamant Barrage hurls hundreds of small shards of diamond/adamantine projectiles toward its target. These shards are small and numerous, difficult to avoid, and razor sharp. The force of the projectiles, combined with their molecular structure, makes them able to cut through most things. However, these can only be sent in one direction at a time. They cannot be redirected once fired, and anything that is thick or hard enough will not by punctured all the way through.
Abilities (claws):
- Iron Reaver Soul Stealer: Inuyasha's basic melee attack,
which channels his yokai powers through his claws, and is
powerful enough to tear apart iron. - Blades of Blood: Using demon power he can harden his
own blood and, like a bladed projectile, throw it at his enemies.
It's a surprise attack that often catches enemies off guard when he is weakened from battle. It is particularly useful when an enemy's movements are too fast for a direct attack or when enemies employ ranged attacks.
Weapons and skills section taken from Inuyasha Wiki. A few changes were made to avoid "overpowerful" trouble.
Weaknesses:
Physical Weaknesses:
When he turns human at a new moon, he can't use any of his
demon powers. he becomes no different from a normal person,
making it difficult for him to fight for his friends. Inuyasha also
tends to go all out in a duel, tiring himself rather quickly. He has
good endurance, but that is limited simply by wielding a sword
that's almost twice as tall as himself.
Sword weaknesses:
The Tetsusaiga forms attacks by the usage of youki, a sort of
aura/spiritual presence around its targets. If the target however,
has no yokai, the attacks cannot be formed. Therefore, creatures
with little or no life force are not affected by the sword; even a simple slash rather than a special ability wouldn't harm them. The blade is sharpened through yokai. Also, while the sword transforms during its usage; it reverts to its not-so-dangerous katana form if it is dropped or forced away from Inuyasha. (A few more weaknesses are given in the list of skills above)
Intellectual Weaknesses:
His lack of trust and his arrogance makes him difficult to get along
with, though Kagome and his allies put up with him. He loved
Kikyo, and then he falls in love with Kagome, while stubbornly
refusing to admit his feeling for kagome. He seems distant from
the others, making a show of how he couldn't care less about
them. He also strictly holds onto his beliefs, and his determination
in a battle can be shattered if he is made to doubt himself. Loss
of self confidence would then lead to reckless attacks; leaving
himself wide open.
Behavioral Weaknesses:
Inuyasha is an arrogant guy, his temper can snap quickly. He
shows a fondness for violence, hitting others (like poor Shippo)
when they irritate him. He is solely dedicated to becoming a full
demon, to be like his father. He may be a leader, but he would
willingly go off on his own, if it wasn't for the necklace and
Kagome's ability to see jewel shards. He doesn't do well when
meeting people; one would have to see through his rough
attitude to be able to be on good terms with him. This leads to
few allies for him; so he usually fights alone. Great numbers
would prove an enormous challenge for him
History:
Inuyasha was born roughly around November 9, 1296 in Japan.
His father was the Great Dog Demon, Inutaisho; while his mother
was Izayoi, a human. It is unknown as of what his brother,
Sesshoamru, was doing, and where he was. Inuyasha, being
only half-demon (curse those genes! XD), was looked down on
as soon as he was born. His mother died when he was around 6
or 7 years old, leaving him to fend for himself as his father had
also moved on. This explains his attitude in the series.
As Inuyasha grew older, he began to wish for full-demon. But in
order to do so, he would have to steal the Sacred Shikon Jewel;
which was protected by a pretty attractive woman named Kikyo.
He tailed her, attempting several times to get his claws on the
jewel. But as he continued to follow her, he began to develop
deep feelings for the Jewel Guardian, she she felt the same
about him. Then finally, Kikyo convinced Inuyasha to become
human and live with her, an idea that appealed to them both.
The jewel would be purified, and destroyed if it was used for such
a purpose, ending the demon problems. And they would both be
happy. It was agreed to meet the next day, and Kikyo would
bring the Jewel.
But another man, turned full demon after surrendering his body
to the beasts, also fancied dear Kikyo; after she had nursed him
when he was gravely wounded. He wanted the Jewel for himself,
and called upon his powers to set up Inuyasha and Kikyo. He
took the form of Inuyasha (thanks to shape-shifting powers), and
met up with Kikyo. But not really. He attacked her from behind,
fatally wounding her shoulder. He then proceeded to take on
Kikyo's form, and appeared to Inuyasha. After a brief encounter,
Inuyasha felt betrayed, and returned to the village to steal the
Jewel and become a full demon. Kikyo, having already been
betrayed by "Inuyasha", faced off with him and shot a sacred
arrow into his chest, pinning him to a tree. This only increased
Inuyasha's hatred for her, but it was short-lived; as he was soon
sealed away. Shortly after, Kikyo died, still hating Inuyasha and
her spirit would be restless and hate him for a long time. The
Shikon Jewel was burned with Kikyo's body, in the hope that it
would never again emerge.
But 50 years later (mistranslated from InuYasha series, which is
reason for the funky birth day above), a young girl, by the name
of Kagome, from present-day Japan (1996) fell into a sacred well.
She carried the Shikon Jewel, though didn't know it at the time. It
was later learned that she was the reincarnation of Kikyo, thus
their resemblance. Kagome found Inuyasha sealed to the tree,
and was soon discovered by the villagers; led by Kaede, Kikyo's
younger sister, who was now an elderly woman. While the
confrontation was hostile at first, it was soon broken up by the
arrival of a demon, Mistress Centipede. The demon was after the
jewel, and Kagome had seized the arrow and pulled it out of
Inuyasha by mistake.
Inuyasha woke from his slumber, and proceeded to destroy the
demon easily. But Kagome's similarity to Kikyo had shaken him. All
the same, once the demon was dead, he turned on Kagome. He
attempted to take the jewel from her, only to be given a present
from Kaede. An enchanted necklace was forced onto Inuyasha,
giving Kagome the power to make him submit with a single
command: "Sit!"
As yet another demon attacked later, a bird-like one, it managed
to steal the jewel. In it's getaway attempt, Kagome shot it with
an arrow, mistakenly shattering the Shikon Jewel in the process.
Now, Kagome and Inuyasah journey forth to find the shards of
the jewel, joined in time by a fox demon (Shippo), a amorous
Monk (Miroku), and a demon slayer (Sango) and her pet (Kirara).
Together, they continue searching for the jewel shards. Inuyasha
is unaware of Naraku's part in breaking up him and Kikyo, until
after Miroku joins them. Kikyo is later reincarnated, and she
believed that Inuyasha killed her; until Kagome told her of
Naraku. But even then, she remained bitter to Inuyasha, and
especially Kagome.
As time went on and more events unfolded; Kikyo eventually saw the truth, and stopped trying to bring trouble to Inuyasha and Kagome. Inuyasha travels with Kagome and the others for a long while; recieving his special fang sword Tetsusaiga along the way, and growing in strength and skills.
