This is concerning... OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma could become the first state to legally define that individual rights belong to an embryo from the moment of conception.
The Senate approved the bill which some say is an attempt to outlaw or restrict abortion rights but it also has unintended consequences, according to the mother of 5-year-old Gavin Gayanich.
"We did several years of fertility treatment to get him. I feel like I won the lottery every day. I wake up every morning and this is what I have because of in vitro fertilization and this bill will prevent us from getting another child," Julie Gayanich said.SourceVirginia is looking to do the same.

Next thing you know we'll be banning the consumption of eggs because it's killing innocent birds.

Yeah the GOP has been pretty anti-women lately. It's not going to help them in the election.

It's just as stupid as this IMO. "But Justice Wooten declined to stretch that rule to children over 4. On Oct. 1, he rejected a motion to dismiss the case because of Juliet’s age, noting that she was three months shy of turning 5 when Ms. Menagh was struck, and thus old enough to be sued." www.nytimes.com/2010/10/29/nyregion/29young.html

*sighs* Everyday I hate the GOP just a little bit more.
So, they'd sooner give rights to a fucking embryo that hasn't even become a fetus yet before they give it to a grown adult that actually has to carry that that thing to term and raise it and then turn around and act surprise when women get upset about it!
They don't want us having abortions but they don't want us using contraceptives to help prevent unwanted pregnancies which leads to abortions in the first place!
Oh and people like Rick Santorum would rather we "accept God's gift" when a woman is raped and become pregnant as a result of it.
The GOP are just a bunch of hateful, spiteful, pieces of shit that can't stand the fact a black man is in the white house and will do anything, ANYTHING they can to undermine everything he's done and not give a damn who they walk on and spit on in the process.
So a big fuck you to the GOP and a fuck you to every goddamn piece of shit who thinks an embryo is more important than the woman carrying it!

You'd think that would go without saying but with stupidity at an all time high it's good they clarified that.
What I don't understand is how they can pass something like this while Roe v. Wade is still in effect unless they're using the tenth amendment as some kind of loophole. Well it wouldn't be the first time a law meant to be enforced at the federal level wasn't enforced....

I'm afraid it gets worseThe Republican Party doesn't have a chance now if they're backing something like this.

I see my "Fuck you, GOP" was well deserved.
Really guys don't act so surprise. The GOP has always been this way there's just now being upfront and honest about it.

Really guys don't act so surprise. The GOP has always been this way there's just now being upfront and honest about it. Proof positive that honesty and politics don't mix. Which, in a nutshell, is why I can't bring myself to take politicians seriously. The ones that seem to make sense are lying half the time, and the complete whack-jobs are actually the honest ones. But, really. If the GOP think they have the slightest chance to win the election pulling this kind of garbage, they're out of their gourds. This does not make me proud of living in a mostly GOP-supportive state at all (not to say I ever was very proud of it, but this has managed to make it all the worse). I'm completely baffled that anyone in their right mind could support this kind of bill. Of course, that's suggesting that any member of the GOP is in their right mind....

What amazes me is how blatant they're being about it. As if they honestly think women don't have a voting power in this country or that Americans are so apathetic they'll just sit back and watch.

Let's not lump all conservative into the same boat here. I consider myself an independent but I do have some conservative views on several issues and I don't support this. I'm pro-life too and I don't support this. I'm sure there are a lot of conservatives, pro-life or no, who won't support this assuming they have all the facts needed to make an informed decision. Some probably will but that's the way of things. But not all.
Most of you know by now I'm not an Obama supporter. I wasn't one in 2008 and I'm not one now. But I'd rather vote for him than anyone who would support an amendment like this because there are better ways to protect the sanctity of human life than forcing a transvaginal ultrasound on women looking to have abortions. That's wrong no matter what side of the abortion debate you fall on. Period. I wouldn't vote for anyone who would back something like this be them Republican, Democrat, Libertarian or whatever. And I have faith that there are plenty of other conservatives who are registered Republicans that feel the same way.
