I find this video hilarious. Christians make up the majority of people living in the United States as we speak yet they're complaining about being persecuted. Just hilarious!
If you're a white Christian male, or a white male in general, you have it easier than anyone else currently in the United States of America. Even more so if you're filthy rich on top of it. People like Rick Perry has nothing to complain about but then again he's trying to attract the idiots to the voting polls so this video comes as no surprise.

What religious heritage? Our forefathers came to America to get away from religious persecution and even put it into the Constitution that Congress shall make no law in favor of or against an established religion. www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/first_amendmentIt's not rocket science, people.

Clash and I was talking about this video earlier. I'm still blown away by just how blunt this is compared to other political ads I've seen, granted I haven't seen many so there's probably a lot worse out there. Personally I think Rick Perry shot himself in the foot a while back, even my dad doesn't like him and he's pretty religious himself.
Over one hundred THOUSAND dislikes on YouTube. Any more and he'd be the next Rebecca Black.

Disgusting. Just disgusting. This man has lost any respect I could have had for him as a person of stature. I hope he doesn't even make it through the primaries for his bigotry.

But it doesn't say anything about gays. I should know I'm a constitutional scholar!

I think some of you are overreacting to this just a tad or misunderstanding what's being said.
He isn't speaking out against gays as much as he's using an example to express how absurd he finds people giving the snub to religion (Christianity in this case) is. He just chose the absolute worst example he could have chosen.
This ad is really no better or worse than anything else the GOP has put out in recent years.

Implying that there's something wrong with the country because people can serve in its military regardless of sexual preference isn't speaking out or attacking anyone at all. Of course.

You're misinterpreting what I said. What I said was the "don't ask, don't tell" bit wasn't the prime focus of the ad but because Rick Perry, in his infinite wisdom, chose to even bring it up he tarnished his own message, which was a pretty piss poor one to begin with but something the GOP has been saying for years so it's nothing new.

This is why I liked your post. I couldn't have stated it any better. If he had chosen something else that wasn't so touchy with most of the population, this video may have gotten a few more positive responses. Probably.

Thing is, children can share their beliefs in school and openly pray. The school administrators just can't force it on anybody because you know, rights and all that.

Still doesn't change the fact he's against gays serving in the military, as is most of the GOP candidates in general which is why I won't be giving my vote to any of them. Our country is already way behind in terms of progression compared to other counties and having a Republican as our President would just backtrack us even more.

I wouldn't worry about it. Rick Perry has dropped down so much in the primaries that he doesn't even register on the radar screen anymore. This video is a clear last ditch effort to appeal to a very small minority of religious extremists because when it comes to serious debate on the issues at hand, he's out of his league.
Fact is there are other more qualified Republican candidates and should he, by some miracle, actually manage to become the prime candidate for his party in the 2012 Election he'll be crushed by President Obama at the rate he's going.

Sounds more like an attack on nonbelievers and believers of other faiths if you ask me.
